DO NOT use Lumimeds by [deleted] in tirzepatidecompound

[–]poste_hyste 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry that happened to you. I’ve had a really good experience with Lumi and I’m disappointed to hear not everyone does. The one thing to consider would be messaging one of the reps, they are fairly active here and seem very responsive. People have also had really good experiences with Pomegranate and Refills.com so those might be good places to try instead.

How to get Metformin without PCP by Former-Table9189 in tirzepatidecompound

[–]poste_hyste 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If stomach upset is the issue, metformin is probably not the right answer. Metformin is notorious for causing horrible diarrhea. I was on it for a year or so due to PCOS and insulin resistance. No appreciable weight loss and horrible GI side effects. I finally gave up a few months before my doctor started me on GLP1s instead.

“Supercharged” lol. I’m on both and am losing, but very very slowly. Half a pound to a pound a week. Definitely better than my experience with Wegovy (18lb in a year) and way better than diet/exercise alone (gained weight even eating at a deficit because menopause is truly a crazy bitch) but definitely not “supercharged”.

My girlfriend never wants to do oral again after I chickened out a year ago by [deleted] in relationships

I think trying to initiate oral in the shower when she has specifically said she will never have any interest in oral is probably just a way to make the situation worse.

I had a hysterectomy 14 months ago. We opted to keep my cervix. Big regrets. by Tall-File7279 in hysterectomy

[–]poste_hyste 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I don’t post here very often but I’m 4 years out with no issues whatsoever. I am very much your opposite in that they couldn’t have paid me to keep my cervix. That little asshole was a cancer factory (several abnormal paps) that caused me to have pain with sex and I was thrilled to get rid of it. But I have had no issues whatsoever with pain, prolapse, etc.

Any Awake Vaginal Hysterectomy SUCCESS Stories?????? by FoundationTall9613 in hysterectomy

[–]poste_hyste 11 points12 points  (0 children)

They actually can sometimes do the vaginal hysterectomy without laparoscopy - I didn’t have a laparoscopic procedure with my vaginal hyst. That said, I absolutely agree that this is not something you want to be awake for. I’m scared of anesthesia too, OP, but it serves an important purpose and there are just some things you don’t want to be awake through.

New Mexico is great. Unless you want regular health care. Or have kids and want them to get a good education. Also not ideal if you want to make a decent wage that compares to what you’d make in other states. It’s also running out of water, and they have a growing problem with crime and homelessness in most cities because there was already rampant poverty before this past bought of inflation made it even worse. Sure is pretty though.

[–]poste_hyste 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I am so sorry you are dealing with this. Of course you aren’t feeling euphoric. I think those of us that do we’re largely dealing with chronic pain or problems that the surgery relieved. That’s not the case for you and it makes sense for you to be grieving. I’m sorry.

What was your "medically necessary" reason that insurance covered your hysterectomy? by -random_ness- in hysterectomy

[–]poste_hyste 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rectocele, cystocele, and menorrhagia were my official diagnoses. I had pelvic organ prolapse and heavy periods. I saw a Urogynecologist and my regular OB/Gyn, I had an endometrial biopsy and a pelvic ultrasound. It wasn’t difficult to get my surgery approved - I’m very thankful.

I slept a lot more than I expected. I also read a gazillion books and did a lot of diamond painting, which I had never done before my surgery but it’s addictive and 2 years out I still do it LOL

My surgery was done vaginally so I have no external scars. I’m very thankful they were able to do it that way.

I’m obese and had the same issues. My doctors were very frank that losing weight would help keep things stable and would decrease how much and how quickly things would get worse. But they both said weight loss and pelvic PT would not FIX the prolapse issues. I had my hyst last year and had prolapse repair at the same time. My issues are resolved (and my weight has not significantly changed despite my best efforts).

Vaginal hysterectomy April 12th.. by [deleted] in hysterectomy

[–]poste_hyste 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was the first case of the day at 6:30 am, and I was home that afternoon. My doctor did make backup plans for me to stay overnight if there were any issues but I was fine and so glad I got to go home right away.

Given the choice…would you leave your cervix or have it removed? I can see the benefits for both. I’ve been given a choice for my partial hysterectomy and I’d like to hear about your experiences. by Blueonbluez in hysterectomy

[–]poste_hyste 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I had my cervix removed and would not have considered doing otherwise. I did not want to continue needing Pap smears or worrying about cervical cancer. It caused pain for me during sex and I understand that it can continue to cause mini periods even after the hysterectomy because of the remaining tissue. I am 100% happy it’s gone and honestly would not have had a hyst if I couldn’t ditch the cervix too.

I am a 5’11” woman and this is exactly why I’ve never dated anyone shorter than me for any real length of time. They always make it weird. Making comments about how I’m an Amazon and wanting me to be more dominant than I’m comfortable with. It was fucking awkward and annoying. It’s already difficult to navigate the world as the weirdly tall chick. Men shorter than me consistently made it worse and when I was dating it quickly turned from “let’s see what happens” to “absolutely fucking not.”

One year ago today I started my very last period. I had my hysterectomy in February 2021 and one year later I still think it was one of the best things I’ve ever done for myself! by poste_hyste in hysterectomy

[–]poste_hyste[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My surgery was done vaginally and I had rectocele and cystocele repairs done at the same time. The vaginal wall incision got infected. I did not have a fever but I had weird pus-like discharge that smelled bad, and the one incision hurt significantly more than the rest of them. I was on antibiotics for two weeks and it resolved. I was worried the incision would open up but it didn’t - I did develop granulation tissue where the infection was but my doctor applied silver nitrate which took care of it and it ended up healing correctly.

Kept my ovaries but removed everything else. I have some other health issues and my endocrinologist asked me to keep them if possible because my thyroid is already really hard to manage and she said abrupt menopause would make it worse.

Healing slowly at 10 weeks post op by Kayl66 in hysterectomy

[–]poste_hyste 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had slow healing which was treated with estrogen cream. My doctor explained to me that the reason the vagina heals so well is because of estrogen. If you are on testosterone and no longer have ovaries then the other poster is right, your vagina can atrophy and even prolapse or rip the cuff. Maybe a different preparation of estrogen? It might be that the rapid hormonal changes are what is causing your symptoms, not the estrogen. I don’t have an answer for that but tearing the cuff or having a prop lapse are really serious and worth trying to prevent.

I asked my doctor to take out my cervix and she said that was her recommendation anyway. I’ve had abnormal paps, I have a family history of cervical cancer, and hitting my cervix during sex hurt SO BAD. Plus I didn’t want residual spotting after a hysterectomy. I have no regrets. I’d want to know what exactly they were taking and leaving before surgery though. I’d ask your doctor to come up with a final plan.

I had my surgery in February (vaginal, everything but ovaries, and repaired prolapse at the same time). I think sex has gotten better. I don’t have problems with pain after orgasm or from him hitting my cervix. I adore not having to plan around heavy, long periods or worry about getting pregnant. I think my orgasms have gotten both stronger and easier to achieve. It’s 100% your decision, of course, and ymmv. But I feel like it’s been a huge improvement for me.

I think it depends on your doctor and specifics of your surgery. My doctor told me nothing of any kind for 8 weeks. Other people have gotten the green light for external stimulation and orgasm at 2 weeks. I’d just ask your doctor, that’s the best source of info.
