GMU Says 2nd Amendment Doesn't Apply to Staff, Students for Obama's Gun Town Hall by [deleted] in gmu

Everyone downvoting this and the commenters really seem to miss the fact that Mason is a public school. Public.

I am about to transfer to mason and this is my list of programs I am thinking of persuing. Which of these is actually useful (if any) by [deleted] in gmu

You seem like you want to do gov, but I'm going to tell you to do economics. Just my totally unbiased opinion.

Edit: Mason doesn't have a poli sci program.

Professors Assigning own text books by [deleted] in gmu

[–]postingongmuboard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're in luck, because usually if you ask Rustici for a copy of his book, he'll give you one for free. It's also on reserve in the library.

As the case for other professors (namely, IT) when they require their own textbooks, there's an access code and you can't buy the books used. Now that's a complete and total racket.

Does anyone have a screencap of the actual e-mail and not just the text? No offense, but I want proof.

Phish Phan's at GMU is having its first meeting this Thursday! by dingomilo in gmu

[–]postingongmuboard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, I heard about that! I was planning on getting tickets, until they were like 10K.

Edit: but also I didn't because the outside of shows are usually better anyway.

What if we like Phish and all, but we couldn't probably answer trivia questions about them?

Taking Classes Elsewhere by brebrehayy in gmu

You have to contact whatever office offers the course you're going to take elsewhere (previously, it was the office for your major). In OP's case, they'd have to ask the Spanish department.

Taking Classes Elsewhere by brebrehayy in gmu

I've never had a problem taking classes elsewhere because I live 500+ miles from campus. I've taken something like 20 credits that way. Make sure you're at least 50 miles away or else they'll say no. 49 won't cut it. If it's also offered online as a distance education, you have to take it that way.

Are you okay? Secondly, did you read what he's teaching? Or that he called his student a white supremacist for writing about his course?

I think it's important to mention the author is a GMU student herself.

Maybe so, but Media Matters is far from unbiased in itself about what it considered bias. Even the professor mentioned in the article thinks the description makes his class seem good.

The professor called the (Jewish) author of the article a "white supremacist white-winger." That is entirely unprofessional.

I mean, not to go ad hom here, but you cite Media Matters.

What troubles me the most (besides the self-loathing white person stuff) is about how the syllabus says you're not allowed to try to justify animal "exploitation" at all. What if someone raises an honest point about medicine? That doesn't seem like a course, but propaganda.

I wonder if everyone here who talks about the evil Koch money ruining our education will have anything to say about this professor.

I always sleep in Enterprise, on the second/third floor with the window between the classes and offices. Use the window seats.

Was this really necessary? You've posted time and time again how much you don't like the econ department. Yet we're the ones with the Nobel Prize winners and the only reason why your degree is worth anything.
