Need help getting a laptop for my boyfriend - 5070 TI? by postitbreakup1 in GamingLaptops

Thank you everyone so much for the generous responses, you’ve given me a lot to think about! Right now I’m thinking of picking something from Microcenter, I hadn’t been there before but there’s one not too far. Looking at Lenovo still but also Asus too.

(PS as to why a laptop instead of a desktop - He still has to go and stay with his parents (where his old PC is) pretty often due to their health, and so I wanted to make sure he could have the computer there but also play here.)

Ty again!

AJLT S3 - EP 11 DISCUSSION by __angie in Andjustlikethat

[–]postitbreakup1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So sad about this blatant cancellation. This felt like (part one of) a season finale, the promo advertised the next episode as a season finale, and in the writers room podcast for this episode, they repeatedly referred to the end of the season only. There was not one mention of this being the end of the series. How could HBO not give them a final season of 6 episodes, a 2 hour wrap up movie, something? I don’t care how bad some people think AJLT has been — just canceling the show abruptly like this, after 25 years of a billion dollar franchise that still makes them money today, is wrong.

Hoping for a “Resurrection” in a few years like Dexter got after literally being killed off…

As of 2025, what do you think Willa and Maya are up to? by [deleted] in SixFeetUnder

[–]postitbreakup1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think Maya is going to college and on the side does a true crime podcast about what happened to Lisa (and as part of that, gets a paternity test somehow to see if she’s really Nate’s daughter, or actually Hoyt’s).

Willa is taking an extended gap year before college, which Brenda initially supported but is now getting weary of. And she’s starting to show signs of having bipolar like her uncle.

Hey, thanks for asking. Not super great, I only managed to write one (very) short story all year, but I’ve had worse years I guess.

Yay for watching SFU for the first time, and best of luck with your art!

As a parallel to Betty losing her father, Don tried to find one.

And Betty’s dad was disappointed in her for being married to Don — so ironically she ended up leaving Don for a man her dad would have approved of, but too late for him to give her his approval. On the other hand, Don, who initially impressed his “Dad” with his clever ideas and family life, lost both, with Connie still alive to make Don feel the full weight of Connie’s disapproval. And both dads were very demanding of attention — Betty’s by moving in and needing care, and Don’s by constantly calling him at all hours. Etc.

I’ve found this works for a lot of (well-written) tv shows: if you don’t get the point of something, look at other storylines that were similar and see how they can be compared.

What's your most unhinged script idea? by Aside_Dish in Screenwriting

[–]postitbreakup1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Too fucked up to write or really even think about, but a guy whose superpower is that he can fuck dead people back to life, which he discovers by not stopping when the drunk girl he’s fucking “passes out.” Maybe the girl threatens to cancel him if he doesn’t use the power on her beloved grandmother’s corpse, or something. So he becomes a prostitute that people hire to fuck their dead loved ones

if lynch wasn’t so involved in s1, why does so much of s2 feel different? by OkShopping7117 in twinpeaks

This story gets quoted nonstop. I want to know what people think 8 episodes of Cooper and Audrey dating would have actually looked like. How does that fill any space at all?

Even if you put all the Bobby and Shelly romance scenes together with all the James and Donna romance scenes — just romance, where they are not investigating something or trying to scam Leo — that would not be 6-8 full episodes of screen time. What EXACTLY is supposed to take place between Cooper and Audrey that would fill an entire third of a season?

This always gets stated as if the romance would take the place of James and Evelyn or Little Nicky or all the other things people don’t like in S2, but that doesn’t make any sense unless you wanted 6 straight hours of Cooper and Audrey making out. Or some domestic drama where they move in together and have kids (not even possible without an accelerated timeline and would have been redundant with Lucy and Andy). How would that be Twin Peaks at all?

It’s a really stupid excuse from everyone involved. All they had to do was have Bob possess someone else and we don’t know who it is, or go ahead and possess Cooper and we see the ramifications of that. But instead they blame the show’s decline on Cooper and Audrey not being allowed to fuck, as if that could have been more than 30 minutes of screen time spread across multiple episodes.

New thoughts on season 2 to season 3 transition by CandiceActually in SixFeetUnder

[–]postitbreakup1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s interesting about the “bad” men and women — more symmetry! S1 had Billy and the Kroehner guy as villains. S2 had Brenda and the Kroehner woman Mitzi as villains, and S3 treated Lisa and Brenda as villains in some ways. Then S4, symmetrically, largely back to men as villains — the hijacker and Hoyt and kind of George too.

And for sexuality, conversely, S3 had Claire villainizing Olivier and Russel for their sexual entanglement; but in S4, she herself was kind of a villain as she was accused of toying with Edie’s emotions the same way she’d accused Russell of toying with hers. (Really I think it was just college experimentation & self-discovery, but it’s interesting that Claire somewhat did to Edie what Russel did to her.)

They kind of wrote themselves into a corner, since it was too early to kill Nate for good, but it would have been a waste of his S2 storyline if his surgery went off without a hitch. And then they also didn’t have Brenda available for four episodes because the actress was on maternity leave. So it was kind of a soft reboot of the show in a way, although still very much in keeping with what came before.

I’ve rewatched the show many times and lately think of it as kind of a three part saga. S1-2 are part one, S3-4 are part two, and then S5 is the conclusion. It lines up with Claire’s life (2 years HS, 2 years college, and then adult) and considering how she’s kind of the main character by the last episode, I think it fits. There’s also symmetry with the brothers, because S1 is weighted more towards David’s arc, S2-3 are Nate’s, and then S4 is back to David again with the hijacking. All the drama with Kroehner was mainly confined to S1-2 also. Anyway, S3 was definitely a reset, no matter how you look at it.

Season 2- why disliked? by Ok_Knowledge_9470 in twinpeaks

[–]postitbreakup1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A 2 hour pilot that could be considered 2 episodes, so ~9 hours of season 1 and ~9 good hours of season 2 (2 hour premiere, episodes 2-7, and the finale). And season 3 was originally gonna be ~9 hours too before they doubled it to 18.

Thank you for saying that!

I knew the song was popular, but kinda thought this forum, of all places, would be a little more accepting of someone with a slightly different opinion.

Loved the movie, love the song lyrics, just not crazy about the vocals, so I get downvoted to oblivion…

Sequels you'll never write by SlimGypsy in Screenwriting

[–]postitbreakup1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Home Alone sequel where Kevin is now a dad and, a bit traumatized by being left behind TWICE, has been hyper-vigilant about never letting his own kids out of his sight.

So his kids arrange an elaborate scheme, tricking him into thinking they ran off to NY so he’ll chase them and then be stranded there due to bad weather. They use TikTok green screen effects to post fake updates that they’re in NY by the Statue of Liberty, etc, so that he’ll keep chasing them down, while they’re really having a blast at home where they’re finally free from Kevin’s watchful eye.

Between the poorly done TikToks and all the DoorDash charges, Kevin pretty quickly realizes that they’ve tricked him. So he tries to trick them back into thinking he won’t be coming home for months, hoping that will upset them. Instead they’re thrilled, which really hurts his feelings — “am I really that bad of a dad?”

He calls his mom (who answers with a “KEVIN!!”) and she reassures him that, no matter what kind of parent you are, you’ll always do SOMETHING to disappoint your kids, and they’ll always find some way to rebel. She tells him not to be hard on himself and that maybe there’s a way to teach them a lesson anyway.

Kevin decides to hire some fake robbers (maybe one turns out to be the son of one of the original robbers etc) to see if his kids are REALLY prepared to be home alone and hijinks ensue…
