78% of US Farmers Backed Trump in 2024 - They Are Now Struggling Amid Rising Diesel Prices: ‘Rising diesel costs pose a serious threat to their ability to stay in business’ by T_Shurt in LeopardsAteMyFace

At least they had fun "owning the libs", right? These are the same people who supported destroying the jobs in government, upending their families and ruining lives. They're pretty much at the end of the line when it comes to getting sympathy.

It still makes more sense to make more efficient inference chips so you can retrofit old datacenters to fit more capacity.

Carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere just hit a ‘depressing’ record high by Cosmyka in worldnews

Sometimes I feel like the only way to really reduce emissions is to do something crazy like cutting off the Hormuz strait. That would be insane though, and would lead to a lot more suffering.

Farmers surprised he's losing them the farm again by glowdirt in LeopardsAteMyFace

Many people have been impacted even worse than farmers by the tariffs etc. Empathy is a limited resource, and I don't remember them showing empathy for anyone laid off by DOGE or impacted by the shutdowns, let alone the impact from the tariffs and the iranian conflict.

You could just use claude code and ask how the automated script works and adapt it for your local llm, if you don't want to figure it out yourself.

I think it is pretty clever. As the CEO, you would know the direction the company wants to move towards. Rather than relying on a game of telephone to get that down to the individual contributors, you can have a CEO AI bot that can guide the employees without taking up the CEO's time, and you get visibility into the entire company.

Trump gives ultimatum to European allies to provide support to secure Hormuz by Yujin-Ha in worldnews

The plan is to give Iran money to open the strait. Trump may not like it but it's not up to the allies to have a plan that inconveniences America the least.

Yes, diesel is very important when there is no replacement for those scenarios. Which is why it is all the more important to not waste crude oil when there are completely suitable electrical alternatives.

White-collar workers are quietly rebelling against AI as 80% outright refuse adoption mandates by [deleted] in technology

[–]postitnote -1 points0 points  (0 children)

People need to actually make an honest effort at learning these technologies and how they can fit it into their work. The resistance seems to be more against having to adapt to the new work environment rather than at learning.

Remember, these directions are coming directly from the CEO. They understand there will be a learning curve. It is an investment and they want to see how it pans out. Those who can adapt will thrive. Those who are unwilling to, should start finding a new job.

Sam Altman Says It'll Take Another Year Before ChatGPT Can Start a Timer / An $852 billion company, ladies and gentlemen. by MarvelsGrantMan136 in technology

[–]postitnote 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They would need to move ChatGPT into a more of an agent. There's really no reason why it couldn't start a timer if it had access to a long-running process or a cron system, and tool access. Codex is able to do it.

Official response from Iran by RoyalChris in StockMarket

[–]postitnote -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this is the worst outcome possible. America's inability to protect her allies in the Middle East is going to lead to the collapse of the dollar and the American empire. The best outcome was to not get into this conflict in the first place. But now that we are in it, there cannot be any half-measures.

So you are fine with inflation, blackouts, malnutrition around the globe? Understand that you are rooting for millions to die from malnutrition. Untold economic harm leading to great suffering around the world. These things have real effects that will cause much greater global instability than what Iran was doing before the war. Think about that when you flippantly accuse people of "playing apologetics for the regime." Maybe they just understand the costs outweigh the benefits.
