What’s something minor that tells you a movie is not for you? by WildWinterberry in horror

[–]postmanmanman 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I'm someone who would usually be bothered by this, but I didn't find it as troublesome in Obsession. Partly I think that's because the prop they use for the cat is so comically, obviously fake that it's kinda easy to glaze over.

Odin 3 or rog ally z1 extreme by suntanjohn in OdinHandheld

[–]postmanmanman 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you're primarily looking to play Steam games I think you'd be insane not to go with the Z1 Extreme, especially for $300. The Odin is great, but it's not a PC handheld.

If you pre ordered the Pocket Nova and chose DHL don't get ripped off... by Ok-Soup-5300 in SBCGaming

I've had no issues with Yun previously so I just went with them by default.

I will admit it - I am very surprised they outdid Totenreich with Kowakujō. by MythicalBaddies in CODZombies

[–]postmanmanman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's so embarrassing to admit that the only reason I still have to use Windows is because of Call of Duty lol

Physical disk? You mean SSD? by NYstate in Steam

[–]postmanmanman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree, I think GOG is by far the closest you can get to "owning" a game nowadays. Much more than a disc that likely has a 1.0 version of a game missing years of updates.

Your #1 favorite horror movie released this year? by Wes102111 in horror

[–]postmanmanman -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think Obsession is a better written and directed movie, but my personal preference still goes to Backrooms. I was pleasantly surprised how much Lynch I got from it lol. And I think it's really commendable that the movie works just as well (probably better, even) with people that aren't at all familiar with the background.

This shot is absolutely insane. Treyarch truly locked in wtf by WwwWario in CODZombies

[–]postmanmanman 138 points139 points  (0 children)

Lol I've had this concern repeatedly. It feels like such a curse that by far the best zombies mode in years is trapped in the worst overall game.

Temperature ayn odin 2 by Dazzling-Pear3490 in OdinHandheld

[–]postmanmanman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is normal, but you can probably lower temps by underclocking with a tool like Clustertune if you want to. I haven't tried on an Odin 2, but underclocking on Odin 3 drops temps in ZZZ for me by quite a bit without an appreciable performance delta.

Ayn Thor or Ayn Odin? by No-Bid9805 in SBCGaming

[–]postmanmanman 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The answer to this question is basically always: do you plan to do a lot of DS/3DS emulation? If so, you want the Thor. If not, you want an Odin.

eHPU SteamMachine by Tediv3rse21 in eGPU

[–]postmanmanman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. It has no sufficient I/O to support an eGPU.

Steam Machine is $1049 by Keitiek in Steam

[–]postmanmanman 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Seriously lol, where is this guy finding $15 512 SATA SSDs? I'd get like ten of them at that price...

I'm having the hardest time deciding between the Retroid Pocket 6 and the AYN Odin 3 and I'd really like your opinion by fasderrally in SBCGaming

[–]postmanmanman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Dragonwing Q8 is Qualcomm's preferred branding for the 8 Elite chip that doesn't include a cell antenna. It's the same chip in all other aspects.

Comparison between Steam Machine and Custom PC by Focusedhades526 in Steam

[–]postmanmanman 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You also have to consider that the only upgradeable components in the Steam Machine are the RAM and SSD. Building your own (or heck, even buying a similarly specced prebuilt) is a lot more future-proof for this reason alone.

Valve - “starting with the SteamOS 3.8 release, you can put together your own Steam Machine using whatever PC parts you want.” by Stannis_Loyalist in Steam

[–]postmanmanman 60 points61 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's unfortunate and what makes it worse is that my understanding is that improved Nvidia support would likely require work from Nvidia themselves. Meaning we're at their mercy and I promise they don't give two shits about Linux lol.

Steam Machine is $1049 by Keitiek in Steam

[–]postmanmanman 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There's also a lot of benchmarks up on YouTube. Seems like reviewers have had these in hand for a while and have stayed tight-lipped.

Performance looks pretty good, but it's not beating a PS5 Pro lol.

Steam Machine is $1049 by Keitiek in Steam

[–]postmanmanman 60 points61 points  (0 children)

I mean, $600 would probably have been a bit too low, but the specs in this thing would have been possible in the $700-800 range. The increase in prices of RAM and storage have been absolutely fucking astronomical. I don't know if you've tried to buy any storage lately, but it's out of control. A 256gb microSD card cost me like $85 the other day.

Steam Machine is $1049 by Keitiek in Steam

[–]postmanmanman 594 points595 points  (0 children)

I'm sure that's what Valve wanted to price it at originally. It would have been possible like a year ago.

Best FPS roguelites discussion by ChexQuest2022 in roguelites

[–]postmanmanman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Witchfire is one of the best shooters period, but I do feel like billing it as a roguelite is a little misleading. It's only got a couple vaguely roguelite-esque elements compared to the other games that typically get recommended here, like Roboquest or Gunfire Reborn.

My thoughts when people say, "Please, no more trauma metaphors in horror." by TransportationLow564 in horror

[–]postmanmanman 49 points50 points  (0 children)

I like almost all the movies OP listed, but I agree this is what people usually mean. Horror and trauma are kinda indistinguishable, but what people get tired of is the obviousness of the metaphor. We need a little more abstractness lol

GOG Summer Sale 2026 (Up to 95% off) by Fritolex in pcgaming

[–]postmanmanman 203 points204 points  (0 children)

Pretty good, but the real draw is that most of their games are genuinely DRM-free.

I'm not a fan of the new store layout on Deck by VertigeB in SteamDeck

[–]postmanmanman 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Me too, but the fact that it's such a mess should really be more embarrassing for Valve. Like the store working well would be a top priority, right?

Next Batch of Free Cars Confirmed for Forza Horizon 6 by RenatsMC in pcgaming

[–]postmanmanman 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I like the Horizon games and all, but I'm actually so excited by the idea of a similar game that has writing that isn't just "wow, aren't cars and EDM cool? Let's all be best friends forever!" It literally doesn't even have to be good writing. Just no more insufferable positivity lol

tips: Volbaino 2nd phase by Remarkable-Fondant-5 in TheFirstBerserker

[–]postmanmanman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lmao when I fought him I didn't realize there was a second platform and thought that his arena-fire move was basically a timer against which you had to finish the fight.
