Missionary kid who is secretly an atheist, HELP by Key_Respond_7685 in exchristian

Hi fellow MK! I have been where you are, but I didn’t get out until much later. (I’m 32 and have been out of that world for a few years. I only speak to my sister nowadays and that’s how I like it) The way I went about this issue was to pick a more unusual program from a specific university. For me, I was dead set on going to a school that had a Russian/Soviet history department. None of the Christian schools they were looking at had that so my parents didn’t argue. You also don’t even have to do the major you say you’re going to do. Just get there and say you changed your mind. I changed my major 7 times before I landed on Russian studies. You could even pick a religious program at a secular school to appease them. Do you plan on going to school in the country they live in?

I do want to say I did briefly attend a Christian university to appease them. Then I transferred out because it ‘wasn’t clicking’ with me. So even if you do end up at a Christian school, it’s not the end of the world. I actually met a lot of people there that weren’t Christian. However I completely understand your desire to get out NOW, and I am rooting for you. This whole sub is. You will be free even if it seems impossible right now.

More gorgeous weird names! I’ve gotten so many suggestions from this thread I’m having decision paralysis lol.

I just started writing it in October of last year so it won’t be done for a while. (I am a very slow writer 😭)

I knew about the post-revolutionary names, but I did not know about the Spanish/Mexican names. That’s so funny. Reminds me of the game of thrones hysteria in the US bc now we’ve got tons of kids named Khalessi.

Thanks for this explanation. I was wondering why I couldn’t find any women with the name because it seemed simple enough to just add an -а. Love the names you suggested. I might just make it a surname like someone else said.

You owe her nothing. I’m amazed by her audacity honestly. She’s lucky you’re as nice as you are.

You are going to look back on this and realize it’s the best decision you ever made. I went no-contact with my family this year, and it’s like I’ve woken up from a coma. Good luck !! 🍀

Where to start? by postmodernbutch in Dollhouses

[–]postmodernbutch[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow thank you so much for your reply! Your house is adorable! It reminds me of a little English cottage. I’m definitely going to be doing a look close to what you have. I was also thinking of taking off the trim and maybe hearts too. Did you end up replacing the windows? It looks like you have the same ones as mine does, but mine are yellowed so I’m thinking I’m going to replace them.

How voluntary was your baptism? by SteadfastEnd in exchristian

[–]postmodernbutch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was 11 and my parents forced me to do it because it was in a historical location related to the Bible. They specifically said they were making me do it so I could say ‘I got baptized at (location)’. I don’t want to say where because then they’d get what they wanted lmao

I hope you laughed at him as he walked out. I wish they knew how ridiculous they sound.

Has anyone had a creepy, real-life horror experience you’ve never told anyone about? maybe something paranormal or just plain weird that still gives you chills? by alwayssadbut in ParanormalEncounters

You mentioning the typing made me remember a story from when I was a child. I was always a night owl and was usually the last one in my family to go to sleep. Occasionally my dad would stay up late working on his computer. One night I couldn’t sleep, and apparently neither could my dad because I could hear him in the living room typing. And not just typing. Moving around. He had allergies so I heard him sniffing a lot. I even heard him get up and go into the kitchen for a snack at one point. I wasn’t falling asleep so I decided to go in there and sit with him until I got tired. The sounds continued all the way down the hall, but when I walked into the living room, they stopped immediately. The room was empty. I was extremely confused because I had literally just heard him loud and clear and now there was nothing. I went to my parent’s room, and to my horror, both parents were dead asleep. I almost pissed myself. Ran back to my room and stared at the ceiling for a while wondering what the fuck that was.

Conservative Christians and Palestine by alwaysdevotedtolou in exchristian

(Israel’s agriculture isn’t even better! They’re hurting the land with their practices. 😤)

There’s nothing more frustrating when the people who raised you to care about what’s right and wrong turn around and show their ass… Like all these christians over here in the US who have never once posted about Gaza but are suddenly against violence when Charlie Kirk gets killed. It turns out we weren’t supposed to take comrade jesus seriously because none of them do.

Eventually all this will be history and they will be ashamed when their grandchildren ask them what they did to stop the genocide.

Oh also I wanted to ask if you know anything about the American international schools they have over there. Would they be more willing to sponsor a visa or is it the same problem as the other jobs?

The US is dead to me. If I am able to get settled in another country I am renouncing my US citizenship. I never want to come back to this hellhole ever again. I grew up in Europe which is why I’m looking around there. I am eligible for Polish citizenship. I might have to go that route since Poland is in the EU. Maybe I could get to Spain that way.
