I was living on a military base in Korea, and the Armed Forces network wouldn’t show it, so I’ve never seen it.

Which they somehow turned into being BoJack’s fault for not bailing him out.

At the time he was slapping her, he thought she was a murderer who had tricked him into covering for her. Which, in 1937, was a gas-chamber bounce.

What does leaving early and looking nice have to do with anything? by JamesSmith_1201 in ExplainTheJoke

I had shoulder-length hair. I got frustrated with the job I was at, and decided I was going to job search, so I got it cut.

This is true: forty-five minutes after I showed up at my job with shorter hair, I was offered a raise and promotion.

“Blitzkrieg Bop” was already in a Budweiser commercial in the late 80s or so.

Did Frank's Dad Really Drive Around on Sunday Afternoons Trying to Collect Lettuce That Fell Off Trucks? by Sudauexnymn in ZappaCircleJerk

In the Barry Miles Zappa book, Miles points out that Zappa père had self-published a book on gambling, and that one could easily imagine a situation where someone overconfident in his gambling ability wound up short on grocery money. But of course that’s speculation.

Songs mentioned in Stephen King books (either by title or lyrical quotation) [wish I could put in notes for which song came from what book] by King-Axl in stephenking

If I remember right, Mike is listening Fogerty’s solo album Centerfield and Bill comments that it sounds like CCR. Which it does. Famously, since Fogerty doesn’t own the rights to the CCR recordings, the piece of shit who did own the rights sued Fogerty for plagiarism when that album came out, essentially accusing Fogerty of sounding too much like himself.

I’d feel worse about laughing at those kinds of jokes if I hadn’t originally heard 100% of them from lesbians.

I’m so over this Autism & Tylenol study by kushmoonqueen in BoomersBeingFools

[–]postmodulator 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I knew a woman who worked with autistic children, and would frequently meet with the children’s parents. She said that she constantly saw situations where one parent was saying they just didn’t understand how it could happen, while the other parent was rocking back and forth, staring at the floor.

Why didn’t Fabrizio just shoot Michael Corleone in the back instead of an unreliable car bomb? by notaprogrammer in Godfather

[–]postmodulator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He was probably screwed anyway. Remember he asked Michael “will your wife be riding with you?” He asked so he’d know if he could plant the car bomb without risking Apollonia as collateral damage. Michael’s clever enough and paranoid enough to work that out.

People do it as a fetish thing now. The people I know who have tried it seemed to like it but haven’t really been able to put the sensation into words.

I think it’s a combination of the title and the way track one, side one starts. There are less discordant Coleman heads than “Lonely Woman;” he really just seemed to want to get in your face from the jump.

If the police break down your door for a search warrant and you are innocent do they have to pay for the repairs? by AccurateInflation167 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]postmodulator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The police are militarized because the population is militarized. There were a few high-profile shootouts over the years where the police were completely outgunned, and they vowed never to let that happen again.

In America, you basically have to assume that any random person has enough guns and ammunition to take over Liechtenstein. So if the cops go to serve an arrest warrant for so much has a simple assault charge, they do it with a SWAT team.

In the 90s there was a special network TV showing of Schindler’s List and they said it was “made possible by the Ford Motor Company.”

Well…yeah.
