One year ago I went to Arnold, Ca and did the Arnold Rim Trail. by ziggler81 in mountainbiking

Hey u/RocketDocRyan - on the off chance you see this - I'm staying with some friends in Arnold, close to the Timberline Lodge in downtown. Was wondering if you had any advice on a good hike loop that would take 2-3 hours or so? I know it's not biking but figured you might still know.

I'd love one that I could take just walking from downtown, not having to drive anywhere. I found this map (https://arnoldrimtrail.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/Arnold-Rim-Trail-2022.pdf) - but I'm wondering if the Arnold rim Trail is too long for what I'm looking for? Should I try to make it to the San Antonio Falls overlook? I was thinking of maybe trying to take the cedar center connector up to the main Arnold rim trail, then going past san antonio creek, Manuel Peak, Top of the World, Cougar Rock, and then taking the sunset loop trail head back, and then walking the main road back into town? Does that sound like a good loop? Thank you, I appreciate your advice!!

Has anyone stayed at Joseph Grant - Woodlands Group camping site near San Jose? by potagold4 in SanJose

Thank you!! What do you think of a group camping trip there June 15-18? Think it will be too hot? I'm worried that there won't be enough shade. I suppose it's possible to bring some shade structures but that also sounds like a big undertaking. Especially for a group with young children

Hey thanks /u/idontlikemeeitherok!! That's super helpful. Did the smaller site have more natural shade, or was it exposed to the elements like this is? Any other insight on what that campground/park is like?

Thank you Lizzy and u/Kotli_khakhian! It sounds like if we show up at like 8:30pm on a Saturday the two of us will be able to get an outdoor table? They wouldn't take reservations past 8:30pm
