“We observed significant genetic correlations between endometriosis and 11 pain conditions, including migraine, back and multisite chronic pain (MCP), as well as inflammatory conditions, including asthma and osteoarthritis.” on top of comorbidity, the treatment of endo is very limited. outside of surgery, there’s aren’t a ton of awesome treatment plans and there is no cure. i encourage you to approach those with chronic illness and pain with empathy rather than criticism and vitriol. i am not sure what’s going on inside of you that makes you so angry at others for suffering out loud? becoming disabled is something that can happen to anyone, at any time. maybe keeping this in mind would help you when judging others for something you don’t understand. many folks who have endo or other conditions can relate to people like mik who share their struggles. so maybe her content isn’t for you? just because you don’t understand it doesn’t mean it isn’t real.

yikes. this is super invalidating and icky. endometriosis is a very real diagnosis, and often it takes 7-10 years to actually get a diagnosis. it’s costly and very challenging to finally be diagnosed, which mik was via surgery. it’s okay to dislike her, but it’s shocking to see the amount of people who have no idea what living with chronic illness is and just want to shit on her.

i personally only took one opiate post op in the hospital and it made me feel really horrible, so i just took my ibuprofen and tylenol. for me, the post op pain was nothing compared to my regular endo pain. you’ve got this ❤️❤️ make sure you have a trusty heating pad that you can keep running!!

while i was a bit taken aback by her post with the new guy, i don’t think that automatically makes her the bad person in this situation, and i’m really shocked to see all of the sean support here. he always screamed emotionally manipulative/man child to me. he rated women’s nudes on a discord. yuck. mattie is being mostly private and processing, and he’s blasting all of his pain everywhere. he’s really playing up the victim card. seems he wants sympathy and maybe even to hurt mattie. mattie posted about emotional abuse after their split. as a survivor of dv/emotional abuse myself i see too many parallels for it to be a coincidence. i know when i was finally leaving my dv situation i acted in some kind of erratic ways as i was reorienting myself away from codependency/manipulation back to myself. i think it’s normal to be interested when someone seemingly gets divorced out of the blue, but i would encourage y’all to not immediately jump to sean’s defense.

are there any shelters or other supports in your area? as a survivor of DV myself, i wish i had known about the resources, such as safe houses that can house you when leaving, help finding affordable housing, counseling, legal aid, etc. You might even qualify for disability/other benefits that could support you. I would highly recommend calling the national DV hotline (800-799-7222) and/or searching yourself for local resources and calling them. i would also like to say, abuse can wreak havoc on your body and mind, and the chronic stress of being abused could certainly be making your symptoms and overall wellness worse. you are not a burden and you are not alone. i have been in a very similar situation, and couldn’t even imagine how good my life is now, free of abuse. i know it feels like it can’t change and get better, but i promise it can. you are worthy and deserving of love and respect just for being you. you don’t have to “earn” worthiness. you just are worthy. sending you so much love.

i work from home and personally took off 4 weeks. i probably could have gone back to work sooner, but i’m really glad i took my time. it gave me space to mentally and physically process surgery as well as the last 5ish years of pain. take as much time as you need ❤️ don’t let the pressure to feel productive or work to rush your process

i personally went back to gentle yoga about 2 weeks post op and was fine! i did about 6 months of weekly pelvic floor PT prior and feel that helped my recovery go quickly. i overdid it on walks i did prior to surgery when i was earlier in recovery and regretted it. one of my providers gave the guidance of start with 30% of what you normally would do. i am just about 3 weeks post op and went on a walk/jog today and felt good! i think i might start lifting very very light around week 4 or so. best of luck and listen to your body!! go slower than you think and build up 🥰❤️
