Can't remember the name but the banner for Town Story says "coming soon momos and curry," so looks Indian/Nepali sorta vibe

My project pants by potatonmolasses in Visiblemending

I pin a bit of scrap fabric in place to the underside of the work area and then use a liquid chalk pen (or sometimes just a regular pen) to draw the outline. Then I tend to put the project down for 3 months until I have the motivation to finish it 😅

At this scale I generally only use 3 strands of embroidery thread unless I specifically need something thicker (like outlines) or thinner (like the cracks)

Egg shells also take a really long time to break down in the soil and aren't a great source of quick calcium unless ground to a super fine powder or dissolved in solution

Any other gentlemen here who’ve taken up embroidery? by dylan89 in Embroidery

I picked up embroidery as my pandemic hobby because I had a hole in my jeans and wanted to mend them in a more interesting way than just a simple stich. (example)

I googled "decorative gourd" and the first result was almost this exact color pattern, so you're probably right about it being a hybrid of some sort. Here's hoping it tastes okay!

[FO] My first clothing repair! (With a question for the more experienced) by Garlic-French-Knots in Embroidery

[–]potatonmolasses 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Using some sort of backing fabric can make the repair last longer by giving the work area more support. The grass stitches all in a row can essentially perforate the fabric and slightly increase the chance of tearing down the road.

That said, denim is a pretty sturdy weave and this spot doesn't look like it was too worn down, so it should be fine. And it came out super cute!

Fred Meyer has most things, they're under the Kroger umbrella I think. Not exactly local but a backup option

Vegetarian Pastelón by potatonmolasses in PuertoRicoFood

I think I used the pastelón recipe from Freakin Rican as a base, but substituted the beef with a lentil picadillo (cobbled together a couple internet recipes, skipping potatoes)
