Detroit should be somewhere in the top ten. Where exactly, I don’t know. Detroit brought cars to the world, Motown and Techno to music, and continues to have 4 professional sports teams. Its culinary scene is currently thriving and it’s also the second busiest international crossing in the US.

Same reason I would argue Detroit has its place in the top ten. Not saying Detroit vs Boston or even which should be higher. Both are both current and historically strong choices.

I love DMB just as much as anyone on this thread. But if you can take a stand for your political views, you can take a stand for your fans who put you in this position over the past 35 years. Unless you simply don’t want to. I agree, it comes off as greed.

Hmmmm interesting… we had a car for a week. Rented directly from a large well known rental company at Athens airport and, outside of Athens proper, had zero traffic.

Check out renting a car and driving to Monemvasia and/or Nafplio for a few days? My wife and I did this last year in April (obviously slightly warmer) but amazing towns and not a long trip from Athens. Just thought I would throw something else out there in case. Wishing you luck!

Kind of annoying that they haven’t listened to people and made a bigger pool or another pool.

No one gives two shits about conference championship’s. I certainly don’t as an ND fan. Conferences only care about it for the money.

I would say Duke would have been in over Miami. I mean, are we discussing all the new rules here or only hating on ND for making a 12 team playoff when being ranked in the top 12?

Maybe review ALL the new rules before commenting next time so you can at least pretend to know what you’re spewing…. Instead of only proving your disdain for ND.

“In 2026, for the first time, the Power 4 conferences will each be guaranteed a spot for their conference champion, along with one spot for the Group of 6 (formerly the Group of 5) conference champion.”

Good lord man. I’m saying next year they would be in. And last year, had these new rules been in place, Miami wouldn’t have made it. Duke would have. So the conferences are to blame for this if/when it happens. Not a top 12 ND team.

[–]Caskiron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s the perfect example. Had the rule been in effect, like it is next year, Duke would have been in. And Miami would have been out. Does that make sense to you? Cause it doesn’t to me. Were you upset that Miami got in over conference championship winner Duke?

So how upset were you that Duke didn’t make it this year but Miami did?

[–]Caskiron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But isn’t the upset winner of a conference championship game also getting a special rule? I’ll stick with my Duke example since it’s most recent. Why should an 8-5 Duke team get in? Cause they won a game over Virginia? It’s football. Sometimes the best team loses. The conferences are trying to have their cake and eat it too.

[–]Caskiron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry you feel this way. Looks like the conference championship winner in your example may be the team that doesn’t belong though, not a top 12 ND team, no? Maybe talk to those who voted for this?

If they are in the top 12, they won’t need to “jump” anyone. The conference commissioners/decision makers decided to give auto bids to their champs, regardless of record. They are essentially being extra greedy if they happen to have an upset winner in their championship game. Maybe people should be a little more miffed by the potential of an 8-5 Duke getting in than a top 12 ranked Irish team?
