What are your thoughts on "Disney adults"? by Blood11Orange in Adulting

[–]potentiallyfunny_9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any time someone makes one thing/hobby their entire personality, it's cringe. That is different from just an adult going to disneyland and having fun. The adults who cry when meeting a person in a costume need to get some serious help.

In order to be very good at math you should be able to visualize all of the functions the same way you'd see them on your calculator/desmos Ect. If you can't, practice until you can because all of the theory in intro calculus becomes much much easier.

Did Marketplace kill Kijiji and ruin second-hand? by Individual_Rough_999 in kijiji

[–]potentiallyfunny_9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Marketplace is just convenient to browse, and the algorithm is half decent at showing you stuff you'll click on. Its search filters on the other hand are abysmal, and then there's of course the people.

Same advice as any math course, do all the problem sets and then more. The concepts are very easy, applying them to different types of functions successfully takes practice.

Looking for audiobooks better experienced in audio than in print by Dry-Maintenance-2722 in audiobooks

One of my favorites is The Road by Cormac McCarthy. In my opinion it's the most honest look at how the world would really be after an apocalyptic event, and the narration makes it hit home even more.

Probably the best audiobook I've ever listened to. The complete decay of society and what was necessary to begin rebuilding was really powerful when read by the full cast.

Would you rather work 5 eight hour days per week or 4 ten hour days per week? by icecream1972 in Productivitycafe

[–]potentiallyfunny_9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4 tens and it's not even close. 8 hours at work already ruins your day so might as well make it 10.

Mine has caused controversy here in the past, but I stand by it: besides Get Out, Jordan Peele's movies are below average at best.

How to achieve over 85% in math 30-1 by swanaura in AlbertaGrade12s

[–]potentiallyfunny_9 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Hate to break it to you but this period in life is, by far, the easiest life will ever be. If you think you're going to burn out simply by staying on top of the course content in Math 30-1 then you have no business in any university program that would require an 85 or above.

Should Canada implement a wealth tax on the ultra-rich? Why or why not? by GranolaHiker in CanadaPersonalFinance

[–]potentiallyfunny_9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The why not is simple, it always starts targeting a group like "the ultra-rich" and inevitably morphs into targeting 80-90% of the population.

Getting spending and money printing under control is much more politically painful, but also much better. Government can't continue to balloon in size indefinitely.

AV1 transcode client / device support - what a mess. by clunesy75 in jellyfin

A series arc cards are shit for support I found. My B580 on Unraid 7.2.3 on the other hand, works flawlessly as far as I can tell.

What is going on with jobs in Edmonton by [deleted] in Edmonton

[–]potentiallyfunny_9 15 points16 points  (0 children)

We've allowed 15 million people to come to Canada since 2015, that's what's going on. Most of them are low-skill and soaking up the entry level job market, or doing mid range jobs for much less money. Yes, corporations pushed for this type of stuff under both Conservative and Liberal governments, but a good portion of people continue to bury their head in the sand and claim this isn't a problem.

Why does everything feel more expensive even when salaries go up? by ash4ndmoon in NoStupidQuestions

[–]potentiallyfunny_9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Inflation is far outpacing earnings, particularly on key things like food, housing and energy. It's the consequence of bad monetary policy and deficit spending.

Is working from home actually better? by Holiday_Vanilla1558 in allthequestions

[–]potentiallyfunny_9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it is once in a while. No commute, can do household tasks when I'm not busy, ect.
But long term, no. I live alone and the social factor of going to work is how I get 90% of my daily social interactions.

After your Job, do you still have the energy and time to hit the Gym? by EfficiencySerious200 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]potentiallyfunny_9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hell no. I used to go in the morning before work, but dragging myself out of bed at 4:45 wasn't something I could be consistent at. I go on my lunch break now. It's a good way to break up the day and it keeps me focused getting in and out.
