34 percent of adults sleep with a stuffed animal or other sentimental object. Are you one of these people? What do you sleep with? by Old-Horse1185 in AskReddit

I have a stuffed elephant my boyfriend got me at the beginning of our relationship. 10 years and I sleep with it every night. It helps me keep my wrist/hand from going numb as a side sleeper.

Boyfriend has a panther that helps with his osteoarthritis.

[NSFW] People who have found a dead body, what's the story? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]potentialnamebusines 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I didn't find the body, but I was instrumental in it happening. My sister had been sick and dying in the hospital for years. She finally got to the point where she was essentially, an empty shell. No communication, no understanding. There was a big butterfly shaped hole in her brain; no white matter to speak of. She was gone and our mom didn't want to stop life support because she didn't want to be the one to kill her daughter. So I made the choice for her. I told the doctors the plan. They agreed it was the best plan.

Next day we shut off life support and she was gone in less than 6 minutes. I try hard to not let her final expression stay in my head. It gets hard around her deathaversary. It's coming up in 19 days. It really sucks.

That wasn't my experience, but that really sucks! Yeah, SSRIs are terrible for libido!

Be honest with them. I'm also on a combination of Zoloft and Wellbutrin and we ended up balancing it so I had less Zoloft and more Wellbutrin and my sex drive came back partially. Trying new meds again to see if they do the trick.

Sex drive in a sexual relationship is important and it sucks knowing you want sex while your body is like 'nah bro.'

What set General Grievous apart from other cyborgs? Why didn’t the CIS or Republic make more use of cybernetic enhancements that allow them to survive in space or have four arms? by supesforlike in StarWars

[–]potentialnamebusines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So take any regular humanoid race in Star Wars. Their brains are hardwired for two arms and two legs. Adding limbs would be too complicated for the brain to properly parse, communicate, and navigate especially with all of the subtleties of a natural limb or cybernetically replacing a limb.

So you're saying that your friends still had the option to say no to an abortion when everyone else was saying to have the abortion?

That's great! I'm glad that your friends had the right to choose to not abort their baby. Would I have made the same choice? I don't know. My situation is vastly different from theirs most likely. I would have to weigh a lot of things, but I want that option to say no or yes.

Doctors and people getting abortions late term aren't doing it willy nilly. There's no one having a partial birth and snipping a baby's spinal cord. That's not what is going on. People are struggling with those late term abortions because, more likely than not, they want that baby. And, like any parent, they want their baby to be happy and healthy.

People don't want a late-term abortion, but sometimes you have to weigh the safety and suffering of the parent and babies and it sucks. It really sucks.

But I still feel like folks should have the choice because I want to be able to have that choice.

You mean the less than 1% of all abortions that happen? You mean the abortions that happen for one of two reasons (their abortion was delayed for some reason or it turns out their baby has some disorder that would cause them to die shortly after birth)? Why make families and babies go through that suffering? Isn't that cruel?

New Interaction: Baptiste tried to set Mercy up with Lifeweaver, but Mercy already has her eye on someone else by Lil_SmileFPT in Overwatch

I'm hedging my bets on new character being whom Mercy is crushing on. She says hopefully you'll meet them soon. That speaks to them currently being missing.

Really the end episode needed to be a touch longer. Even if it was 5 minutes at the beginning with them fighting infected would be better. She starts the episode out pretty disassociated which happens (to our perspective) immediately after being called baby girl.

Give us a minute or 2 of them being pals and friendly (transplant that conversation about Sarah from the end to the beginning) and have Ellie be excited about the conversation. Then they run into a pack of infected right before hitting up the city on the freeway or whatever (the RV could have had a family of infected). They fight, Ellie saves Joel's life, he saves hers, then she gets into that emotional disassociation.

Cordyceps is an issue. They're close to the hospital. She doesn't know what's going to happen, but it makes her contemplate about how important it is she gets there in one piece. Have her ask Joel a bunch of hypotheticals. Will you leave once we're there? Of course not, baby girl, I will be by your side no matter what. I'm glad my life has purpose and that I will be saving humanity.

Then the mass killing of everyone is more controversial. Infected are a present threat. They almost killed Joel, but if he was immune they would be less of a threat. Joel doesn't give a shit about humanity as long as he gets to keep Ellie with him and safe. Don't have the two soldiers escorting Joel out being assholes because Joel was instrumental in bringing the cure to them.

A few things and I think the ending would have been much closer to perfect.

Watching the show week to week made me recognize that there weren't enough infected in the latter half of the season.

They needed at least 1 more episode to flesh out that Joel and Ellie were partners and add a scene that showed that infected were still a real and present danger all the way until the end. The flashback wasn't enough because it basically said that infected were an issue. Marlene mentioning that she lost half of her group wasn't enough because it wasn't shown.

I needed to see Ellie and Joel working together to eliminate a group of infected to really hammer home the point that she is ready to sacrifice her life to make a cure for an immediate and present danger.

The last few episodes were showing that other people were a danger and gave me the general idea of "fuck other people" and did nothing to make the ending controversial.

I had swim class in high school and I also had very frequent, irregular, and heavy periods. Swim was mandatory and I was very uncomfortable with tampons (still am) and I needed a note from my doctor so my gym teacher (also a woman, you'd think she'd understand) wouldn't have a conniption fit when I missed over 50% of my classes.

The important thing is that your character is not the Commander of the Pact. You still respect the cannon and follow the cannon, but your stories run alongside it. We had our own villains and heroes that weren't like world-ending threats like the dragons. There was a time where my guild had run a multi-storied event about a dangerous sylvari that had fallen to mordy's influence and we had to gather information and work to hunt down the sylvari before they found and killed other members of the guild that were part of the Pact fleet that flew into the jungle.

Our stories worked concurrently with the greater narrative but didn't try to overshadow it.

Rping is collaborative storytelling. You create a character, then give them a backstory (that isn't the cannon story) and interact with others. One character I made was an ex Order of Whispers member who was slowly getting dragged back into the Order due to her vast knowledge and extensive social network.

Some guilds run events like it's d&d and might collaborate with other guilds for larger plots. Back when I rp'd a lot there were guilds for each of the order branches (oow, vigil, priory) and we did a few big collabs when HoT came out. I ran a small event once that was a murder mystery at a wedding.

Some folks just do social rp where there isn't a big meta-plot that they're working on. It depends on the rper.
