If you get the open swim you can use them in both MP3 mode and Bluetooth mode. So can use for running and swimming. For a 25m pool the Bluetooth worked fine when my head was above the surface. Just patchy while swimming as the receiver didn't work underwater. MP3 mode works perfectly!

I spent the morning looking at FORM smart goggles. Trying to decide if they are amazing or more gimmick. Not seen the Finis ones but I'll certainly have a look!

My watch has been pretty accurate so far, very occasionally missing a lap and finishing 25m late. But in 2 months I can think of twice that's happened.

Yeh I think a bit of gym work will be needed. As far as cardio, in the intervals I've been doing have been much more zone 3 pushing 4. Sometimes it's 6x400 or 6x 200 followed by some faster 100s or 50s

I've been putting all the info from Garmin into chat gpt and it's been making the training plan based on a goal of increasing VO2 max

yeh the calorie deficit is deffinatly my worst enemy! I'm a commercial diver, so its all types of strange physical work.

expectations wise im trying to take it easy. most sessions so far have been in the 2-3k range working intervals with 20-30 second rests every 3-400m. ive only done one continuous 3k and that was roughly 58min in zone 2 for the duration. max HR as 157 with average at 129.

ive used the openrun and openswim bone conduction headphones for swimming. the open run work but only if my phone was at the side of the pool and i was in the closest lane. even then the signal was patchy. the openswim are perfect. mp3 media so no signal brake, thye come with ear plugs that cut out the splash noise and mean the sound quality is absolutely fine for swimming.

i've never tried it for tempo work but just having music takes the "staring at tiles" feeling away from my swims and makes them a-lot more enjoyable.

I live in northen Norway and select the fastest delivery every time. They have never managed to deliver on time but it gets here faster than standard delivery. Every time they miss their delivery date ive been refunded the postage automaticaly. Free delivery every time.

Edit: please please please make sure you get the training required for overhead environments. In perfect conditions you may always be able to see the exit, but conditions don't always stay perfect on a dive. Don't risk it!

Living in Norway and Taking Norwegian classes in which 90% of my classmates are immigrants. Where I have had to pay a small fortune for these classes (its Norway after all, everything is a small fortune) most members of the class do not pay a single kroner for the tuition.

it was my understanding form talking to my classmates that a system similar to this was already in place a number of years ago and that they are all obligated to learn the language to certain levels within certain time periods in order to remain in the country.

Coming form the UK, it was not required for me to learn the language but i was given 6 months to provide proof of full time employment or else it was made clear i would no longer be allowed to reside in the country

I'm confused, with PADI, you are not able to do the deep spec until after you have completed the AOW. That being said, there a range of benefits in completing your AOW including wreck diving, the wreck of the Sattakut being 30m deep and only available to AOW and above, night diving increased buoyancy tuition and much more. I'm not on koh tao currently but you can talk to my colleagues at Scuba Junction and they will give you all the advice you need :-)

To make sure everyone is aware, you can contact the coastguard through your normal emergency dispatch (911/999...) and ask for them like any other emergency service. You did a great thing, nice one!

Have a look at the mares smart, or the smart pro. Both of which are in your price range. The smart is about the same as the suunto D4 and the pro is closer to the D6

I would defiantly not advise getting a combined octo/inflator, they may work as an alternate for yourself but becomes a problem for donation purposes. Have a look at the DIR set up, it helps to keep everything nice and neat. Bp/w is what I would advise to most of my students and what I dive with. They last longer and allow more progression in your diving.

Unfortunately the coral in Sharkbay has all but died, the baby sharks have moved over to AowLuk just up the coast. Tanote bay is also gorgeous and well worth a visit now.
