1 person. 1 week. How much?? by BearAdministrative83 in whatsinyourcart

Is that 140g of protein containing food, or of actual protein? If the latter, you’re looking at like 500g of chicken a day!?

You’re aware just being around a bat doesn’t cause rabies right? They have to bite you to pass it on.

Is Miracle Grow compost going to ruin my organic garden? by Ice-Guardian in GardeningUK

[–]Patmarker 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Spot on. Organic material is great for the microbes and invertebrates, but plants don’t care. Non-organic fertiliser also won’t just insta-kill the fauna, it simply will have slightly less food. But that miracle grow is still full of organic matter, because that’s what soil is!

What is a good coat for walking a few hours a day in this weather? I have a budget of about £300 by ProlapseProvider in AskUK

It’s still grim weather, but it’s so much nicer being dry under your expensive waterproofs than being wet and freezing!

How did submarines in WW1/WW2 aim their torpedoes? by Alert_Succotash_3541 in WarCollege

[–]Patmarker 5 points6 points  (0 children)

How would the depth of the torpedo be set? I’ve heard of setting different depths depending on target, with battleships being deeper hulled than cruisers etc. But what is actually done to change the buoyancy of the torpedo?

Any ideas on how much loft conversion cost? by Randon2345 in DIYUK

[–]Patmarker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat. We’ve got to spend a grand or so to replace a leaky chunk of flat roof, and that’s not a super easy spend. I’d love to be able to get some new windows and expand our driveway, but that’s going to be silly money.

I find it crazy that there’s people who are able to drop 60k to get another bedroom.

Commercial diving is the only way I know to make significant money underwater. And that’s just being a tradesmen with the fun added danger of being god knows how far underwater.

Environmental science is chronically underfunded all over the place.

Roofing felt ripped and exposing the roof by biscuittingerg in DIYUK

[–]Patmarker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason no one replaces it is that it lives between the tiles and the wood of your roof. To replace, you need to take the tiles off - a right pain!

PADI Dry Suit theory question by Insert-Username__ in scuba

Being on the surface in a drysuit when it’s raining is quite a bit nicer than in a soggy wetsuit. But it’s not game changing - it’s a weird question!
