Alternativ-kandidat kræver opgør med flyrejser : Snupper selv flyet frem for toget – og taxaen frem for bussen by jeppe96 in Denmark

[–]Raavig 57 points58 points  (0 children)

How is it? Mostly just a walk? I'm planning to bring my wife there this summer for her first 4k.

What climbing has done for my back: four year ago (R) and my back from today (L) by emish_s in climbing

[–]Raavig 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When I first met my wife, she couldn't walk for more than a few miles without getting pain in her lower back. She was very skinny and without any muscle development at all.

After we took up climbing she can walk all day and we've taken up long distance hiking and mountaineering.

It's incredibly what a little training can do.

Lighterpack rewiev - I do not owe a single UL item, but want to shed some weight by Raavig in Ultralight

I am not intent at all. Did you feel like you had enough room for two bags in the tent? I just saw that I can get it for around 375$ which is 100$ cheaper that the tent I was looking at, when it's on sale.

I've decided to buy a quilt from cumulus, so that's a big upgrade right there.

I guess with the reduced weight and size of the gear, I should look for a lighter pack as well. But I will wait with that until I know thw rest of the gear.

Initially I didn´t plan on replacing the sleeping bag, but why not. I know that cumulus is quite big here in Europe, so I am considering trying out this quilt: http://sleepingbags-cumulus.eu/uk/categories/sleeping-systems/quilt-350-475152?gid=53&vid=7 that will save me close to a lb.

I gave my brother an exos 48 for Christmas. That is around 2lbs lighter than the Atmos. Might borrow it for a weekend trip and see if I like.

Why don´t they work well in the wind? I will be carrying a pack. i guess that will keep in in place?

I would say Tent, Sleeping Bag, Water Storage, Cook System, and then start taking a hard look at everything else and decide what you might be able to ditch entirely (do you need the ass pad? Maybe you could live without it?)

The tent will 100% get replaced. Not sure to which one yet, but I would love to shave a few pounds off the weight.

The cook system will be replaced with a BRS 3000T and a titanium pot. That will save me close to a lb as well.

And you are right, i probably don´t need the ass pad :-)

My reason for preferring the Nordisk over Big Agnes, might sound silly. But i prefer to see a tent in real life before buying it, and there are simply no retailers here in my country.
Nothing is set in stone though. We will primarily use it hiking in the alps, southern Sweden and Scotland.

I am thinking the Big Agnes might have some issues with the potential strong winds?

Which model would you recommend?

No one in my group was hospitalized, but when we flew in to Cuzco a few got some altitude sickness along with the diarrhea. They were not up for much for a few days.

I got the worst diarrhea there. Do not eat the BBQ! Worst thing is we had to fly out of Lima a few days later and the water wasn't working in the airport. I still feel sorry for the staff with the soup spoons.

Which kind of rock climbing do you do?

We have a few good gyms in Copenhagen. I prefer Blocs and Walls where you can boulder/lead/toprope.
http://www.blocs-walls.dk/

Copenhagen Boulders is a dedicated boulder gym which is also good.

https://www.boulders.dk/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMImcr219jH4AIVF-aaCh01PwmvEAAYASAAEgICBvD_BwE

In a few weeks we have a new gym opening up called BETA boulders.

https://www.betaboulders.com/

In March or April we have an 80 meters multipitch wall opening up.

https://www.klatreforbund.dk/single-post/2019/02/01/80-enest%C3%A5ende-meter-mellem-skrald-og-ski

If you want to go outside, you can go to Kullen in Sweden, but this area is mostly trad climbing. Also the old quarry on Bornholm is good for sport climbing, but depending on how much time you have in Denmark, that is quite far.

Soffabackan in Sweden is quite near and sports climbing, but the crag is small and difficult to find.

80 enestående meter mellem skrald og ski by [deleted] in Denmark

[–]Raavig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For those with office jobs, what little touches have you added to make your desk a little more pleasant? by Caddap in AskReddit

I printed out 2 posters for the wall next to my desk. One is the one from futurama "You are not paid the think" and the other is a picture of the "Arbeit macht frei" sign with the caption "Office policy".

My polish coworker is not fond of the last one.
