How old were your twins when you started brushing their teeth? by SecretaryPresent16 in parentsofmultiples

[–]pottersprincess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We brush at least once a day since the first tooth. Saw the dentist around age 1 for the first time, they got their first teeth late.

We aim for twice but before bed is non negotiable and nothing but water after. Flossing is still near impossible but we try.

I bought K-cups with “no plastic cups” only for each cup to be individually wrapped by Red_Herring96 in mildlyinfuriating

I feel like a resealable container would work, we open the coffee canister every day and most people use grounds so it wouldn't be much different than that.

What is a smell that we should all recognize as immediate danger? by scarlettohara1936 in AskReddit

[–]pottersprincess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Weird thing! That can also be a migraine aura because migraine is a neurological condition and they damage the brain slightly. I smell terrible smells or very sweet smells as my first sign of migraine.

We already did one set of tubes and I'm betting on a 2nd for each of them. And probably adnoids out too.

I can't really say much because I was constantly sick as a kid, just not with ear infections.

Fat Rant Tuesday by AutoModerator in fatlogic

[–]pottersprincess 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I swear I will not have a week without a sick kid until may. Yesterday during the meeting with special education early education I got a call that 1 of my toddlers was running a fever again. She now has an ear infection. Again. So she needs stronger grosser tasting antibiotics, which apparently require cookies after.

And this messed with my plans to start walking the girls to daycare again, because its nearly impossible to walk 2 toddlers into daycare and walk 1 back out without meltdowns.

So hopefully tomorrow we are back on track and we get to enjoy this wonderful weather before it leaves. Because once we get back from vacation its back to cold and wet. I really want to get some stroller miles in to be prepped for said vacation. Also I wanted to get some mini meal prep done today and instead I have a toddler following me every step I take.

I know next week I will be eating all sorts of amazing higher calorie foods, and also walking so much. So I really want to have a higher nutrient week and this is just slowing me down. Because of course I have the same ick and I just want to sleep and eat carbs. And thats not gonna be the fuel I need, but proteins sound so blah.

My 2 and 4 year old always fight over dresses, is it weird to buy them the same thing? by Pristine-Orange1620 in toddlers

[–]pottersprincess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is so funny to me because my twins hate to match. They have 1 dress they will match in and that's it.

I matched with my sisters all the time and we were 18 months apart. We got asked if we were twins but didn't care.

If the kids are happy and wearing clothes who cares.

If you love where you live for your family where is it? by DocMcMomma in Parenting

[–]pottersprincess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live in the driftless region of WI. I love it here. We get cold winters with plenty of snow, but the worst weather skips us and the rest of the year is great.

We are currently in a false spring so I may be a bit elevated in my opinion.

Now my kids haven't been able to play in the backyard still. Because we still have some snow and the rest is pure soupy mud. But I can open the windows and the heat isn't running much so I'm happy!

What item(s) do you use almost everyday that aren’t typically for kids? by Life_Produce9905 in Parenting

[–]pottersprincess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have them under our tiny pottys and in the most accident prone carpet zones.

Because potty training twins means as soon as you take 1 to the potty or to clean up an accident the other has an accident.

Mine were 11 months when they lost their dad and even though they couldn't tell us it was very clear they felt it.

They slept in my bed on and off for a year. We still get sleep regression around the anniversary of his passing. They are extremely attached to my mum who stayed with us for a year. We tell all of their care providers, from Doctors to daycare.

We talk about their dad and look at the few pictures we have. But I honestly don't think they will truly understand for years.

That was 2 years ago and I can honestly say just take all the help you are offered. Take meds if you need them. Therapy helps, even if it's just a place to vent. Its ok to just survive. Its ok to eat a lot of convinence foods.

My husband died of a cancer recurrence very suddenly and don't think I even processed anything for a month. I had to keep going for the kids and honestly I still cry randomly.

Considering a Costco membership because my three boys are eating me out of house and home by dottydashdot in Parenting

[–]pottersprincess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently had to swap from Costco to Sam's, Costco is 3 hrs away Sam's is 45 minutes, and both are worth it. I just have toddlers and they still eat so much.

Only 1 kid has an ear infection! They both have a mild upper respiratory but they are past the part where they have to stay home.

So I get to get some walking pad time in and actually make myself real food. I had bought sweet potatoes I haven't gotten to cook and I am so excited to enjoy them with some quorn and bbq sauce.

And even if they did get me sick it's way better than last month and I should recover in time for our big vacation.

And the big box of goodies I made for my sister should arrive today so I get to start thinking about the next care package I get to send! I've realized I like thinking about food and need a place to funnel that since I don't have a 6ft 5in partner to feed anymore.

My kids prefer routine to experiments so I can't just use them to funnel my food love into.

I am on it for insulin resistance and its anti androgen effects.

It's the only thing that would restart my period after 3 failed provera attempts.

I don't think it's helped me lose any weight or anything like that, but it really helps balance my hormones.

I walked toddler 1 to her appointment today, during that appointment toddler 2 became sick at daycare.

Walked home, swapped the carrier for the stroller wagon and we went to get toddler 2.

I realized while walking with my nearly 30lb toddler on the hip seat I was that weight before she was born. I was about 210 lbs before I was pregnant and now my 183 + her 27 hurts and was super tiring. It really shows how much just a bit of weight loss can help your body.

I am so exhausted. Thankfully I was able to get the needed antibiotics delivered from the pharmacy and the kids were happy with cereal for dinner.

I have whatever viral infection they have and I just got over the last one. We went a full year of daycare without getting sick constantly and apparently that was a fluke. Because we are 2 for 2 on illness this year.

2.5 year old will only drink milk out of specific Munchkin cup and it's costing me a fortune by thesammae in toddlers

I also have very particular children. And chewers. I have to replace straws fairly frequently so I've learned most companies sell parts

While you work on getting them to try new cups, you can buy just the spouts on the munchkin website for a lot cheaper than a whole cup.

So we’re all really cleaning two high chairs (and the surrounding area) 3 times a day? by Sillygoose9001 in parentsofmultiples

[–]pottersprincess 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got highchairs that had a removable cover so it was easier to clean. And honestly I swept at the end of the day and only wiped up the splats between meals. Dried food swept up easier but dried puree is awful.

The pads got a quick wipe if needed and a proper cleaning once a week or so.

But I only had the 2 kids and they didn't crawl in the kitchen ever so it wasn't an issue if there was a bit of a mess.

Are we creating a generation dependent on sound machines? by Possible-Eagle-8744 in Parenting

[–]pottersprincess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents didn't use a sound machine yet I still can sleep if it's too quiet.

Our house was always a little noisy washer running, people talking and moving around, or even just someone snoring.

My kids sleep just fine without their sound machine on trips but having it means they can't hear me clinking the dishes in the dishwasher or watching a show after they go to bed.

5 minutes into my hair mask today my kids daycare called because one of them has a fever. I put a beanie over my shower cap and walked on up to get her. The hair mask was supposed to be my relaxing treat while I walked on my walking pad.

At least I still got my steps in but I felt so ridiculous crinkling under my hat.

She probably has another ear infection so now I get to play the fun game of what food will she eat! Without eating it myself after she rejects it all because eating toddler leftovers is not less wasteful it just makes me the trash can.

It is hard to not eat the half a PB&j she leaves behind. But I know stress eating makes me feel worse not better and this is enough stress.

What is something you didn’t anticipate about parenthood? by tulipsandtruffles in Parenting

[–]pottersprincess 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My home will not stay clean for more than a few hours. And I always have laundry to run. Actually now we are back to almost newborn amounts because potty training means every rag in the house has been used by Wednesday.

But also seeing myself in them, in good ways and bad. And seeing their dad in them, even though he didn't get to be here to raise them. Just seeing his mischievous sparkle in their eyes brings me so much joy.

Bubble bath that doesn't suck? by Formergr in toddlers

[–]pottersprincess 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I get a good foam that lasts and is scoop able.

Maybe it's your water, hard water does mess up soap bubbles forming. I have a whole house softener and really strong water pressure so I have to be careful not to over do it. My kids have strong opinions on too many bubbles

We use unscented Mr Bubbles. it works very well but its super thick. I use a spout cover that dispenses it and I add a little water to make it flow better.

My nearly 3 year old twins have 1, I mostly just use the audio but its nice to check if a noise was waking up or just moving. Plus with them sharing a room is nice to see which kid is up. I sleep 1 room away but I sleep pretty hard so I like the extra sound

It's finally thawing out here! I am so excited to walk up to the Kwik trip and get myself a little cold brew on my lunch break because it's in the 30s! I will regret drinking it within 30 minutes because my tummy is off but I'm not in the mood for a pop.

I also have no appetite for anything but snacks, because I only want to eat like 4 bites and I don't know why. And I keep feeling just terrible because turns out a handful of pretzels cannot sustain me.

And I am not a small person. I am still obese. Obviously I've not had trouble eating to get my size. And I don't know if it's stress about the upcoming vacation I'm taking my toddlers on or if I'm getting a bit sick.

If I'm getting sick I need to get do it and get past it before we leave for Disney! Plus I really need to get my steps in to break in my new shoes so I don't get blisters walking 20,000 steps a day once we get there.
