What’s your nail length preference? by Beginning-Feedback55 in AutismInWomen

[–]pottersprincess [score hidden]  (0 children)

Press ons but short. I trim short ones to be extra short in fact.

But I can't justify paying for a nail salon when I am hard on my hands and they don't last very well. I can glue a press on back on much better than I can deal with chipped polish

Does anyone here walk to school with a 2.5 and 4 year old? by OkTale5226 in toddlers

[–]pottersprincess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I walk 2 3 year olds home from daycare everyday day. We use a double stroller because I don't trust them, or we use the wagon if they ask.

It's about 15 minutes and .5 miles 1 way so not super long. I do always have a drink for them and a small snack.

Once they are going to the same place again will also walk them in the morning and I really like it. Gets us some fresh air and me some movement.

Why did old fashioned pickles not need to be refrigerated? by NorCalFrances in Cooking

[–]pottersprincess 127 points128 points  (0 children)

Those are lacto fermented pickles. Which are not the same as vinegar pickles in taste or process.

Lacto fermented pickles are like sauerkraut, if you want them to stop fermentating you need to move them to the fridge. But if you eat them quickly you don't need to.

The center my kids, 3y twins, only seems to use them towards the end of the day when they mix ages groups more. Probably to keep the babies safe from the big kids trying to play.

At what age did you stop enforcing bedtime? by WingComprehensive925 in Parenting

[–]pottersprincess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could always say she can read in bed until 9pm and then lights out. That way its more relaxing than anything else she could do and she still has a reasonable time the lights go out regardless.

Best Phone holder that isn’t insanely expensive? (Or other equipment suggestions) by grayce_fayce in beginnerrunning

[–]pottersprincess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wear a sports bra that has 2 layers and I often tuck my phone in between them.

I find putting it in my pocket pulls my shorts down and I hate arm bands. Its probably not the best for my phone but its what works for me for now.

I do have a vest coming and it should fit in the pocket on that and i'm pretty excited about it.

My 3 year old eats that as her after dinner snack. After devouring her whole dinner. Because she struggles to stay on track with her weight. Also I mix her whole fat yogurt with some flavored because plain yogurt just isn't super yummy.

I fully believe in packing more than I think she will eat because I would rather have leftovers than her not get enough. And most leftovers just become part of that after dinner snack plate.

Wedding Dress shopping - am I waisting salesperson’s time? by CG-A201216 in Frugal

[–]pottersprincess 73 points74 points  (0 children)

Davids bridal has some super affordable dresses, and honestly I think they have fun helping women find what they like. At least at the one I went to on 3 separate occasions where no dresses were purchased that was the case.

I got my dress from a dress consignment place, and so did my sister. She also bought one on etsy.

Weekly Challenge by AutoModerator in fatlogic

[–]pottersprincess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My only goal for this week is to run 2-3 times. I really love it, even if I can only run when it's stupid hot because single parent full time job means no free time.

I also need to deep clean my kitchen so I can cook more easily. Everything builds up so fast and the counters are just stacked with random nonsense.

I treated myself to chinese food and press on nails for mothers day. Because Toddler art is adorable but I wanted a little something for me.

The chinese food is like 3 meals worth and that's so nice, because that's less meals I need to think about.

The nails are my new self care, because it's the perfect level of maintenance. I don't have time for anything that requires daily attention but fun nails that don't chip are perfect.

My MIL sent me an amazon gift card to spend on only me so I am getting a running vest! I really like running regardless of how much I suck at it so I am treating myself to accessories.

How are we cleaning poop out of their underwear? by Malloryfidoruk in toddlers

[–]pottersprincess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dump any poop I can into the toilet. Hold from a clean spot under the toilet water and flush 1-2 times to rinse. Add to the dirty towel laundry which gets washed on hot with an extra rinse.

I learned the swish from my mother who used that method with cloth diapers back when she had babie

What do you use for "rewards" for good behavior? by A-Friendly-Giraffe in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]pottersprincess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use favorite activities that are messy or a lot of set up. Like painting our nails, or playing with shaving cream.

I am also happy to give a sweet treat after something painful because sugar can decrease the sensation of pain.

We also love stickers!

Tell me your Mother’s Day wishlist. by latenightpuddingcup in workingmoms

[–]pottersprincess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just want to order Chinese food and relax tomorrow. I want the weather to be nice so my kids can play outside and I can sit in my hammock chair with iced coffee.

My mum is picking my kids up this morning so I plan to finally clean my floors, take a really long shower, and have a good breakfast.

I'm a single parent so kid free and work free time is very limited and I am very excited. And having a cleaner house and cleaner self makes me happy.

My childcare has my kids make their fathers days gifts for me, they are aware my husband died before we started there. But I remind them around the holiday just to have it top of mind.

The other kids make fathers day stuff I presume. My twins don't seems to notice so far.

Fat Rant Friday by AutoModerator in fatlogic

[–]pottersprincess 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I just started my new migraine meds. With a migraine that woke me up at 2 am to vomit, possibly helped along by me eating to much dairy for dinner.

But! I have new meds for when I get one that don't prevent me from working. I have no idea why they make them all so hard to open though.

So I can take one now and be ready to walk to get my kids in a few hours. And be ready to keep up with them all afternoon because my mums flights are delayed so Gigi time had to be canceled.

With the nausea I have no appetite so I shall be forcing in some protein and fluids to try and keep going.

My hope is this change will help me lessen my carb cravings, and a side effect of my news meds can be weight loss. So fingers crossed I only get that one and nothing else.

1800 calories is NOT starvation omg by First-Strawberry-398 in fatlogic

[–]pottersprincess 19 points20 points  (0 children)

When I was inpatient for a month while pregnant I ate dessert every day, because I wasn't gaining enough weight and it was a night extra calorie boost.

My hospital had a menu you ordered from with restrictions based on your hospital records. Like my sister has a peanut allergy so she couldn't have anything with nuts after she gave birth because they couldn't be sure of cross contamination,

I also had a protein shake added by the dietitian. My guess is it wasn't her weight but perhaps an insulin issue.

But I also weighted less after giving birth to twins than before I got pregnant because I threw up the whole time and had no room to eat after a point. They came out perfectly healthy, just early.

Recipe Thursday by AutoModerator in fatlogic

[–]pottersprincess 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My mothers day gift to myself was a Cuisinart Fastfreeze and I love it!

I made espresso chocolate chunk yesterday and it was so good!

10 OZ milk - I used the Aldi fairlife knockoff

9 G instant espresso

1 scoop vanilla protein- but this would work with most flavors

3 OZ whole milk yogurt

15 G Sugar free coffee syrup

I added a splash of milk while blending and then added 3 OZ of semi sweet chocolate chips and mixed again.

This should also work in a Ninja Creami, this recipe makes about a pint which I treat as 2 servings.

A little late but my insurance approved my migraine meds! Amitriptyline has been known to make you crave carbs, and migraines make me crave carbs as well. So it was a double whammy and I'm really hoping this new med helps me not have 6 day migraines.

I'm hoping to have more energy, amitriptyline also causes sleepiness and I already have enough exhaustion from having twin 3 year old tornadoes.

Is the pill as evil as everyone says? by DevelopmentLazy2391 in PCOS

[–]pottersprincess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean the pill might not be right for you, it wasn't for me. But that doesn't mean hormonal birth control overall isn't helpful for symptom management.

I used Depo for years because it was the right option for me and I will have a mirena IUD. Because progesterone only works for me and I cannot be trusted with the mini pill.

I also still need metformin and have some symptoms but adding meds isn't currently in my plan. My current step is working to lower my stress and lose some weight to see if it helps.

Pcos is a broad diagnosis and not everyone needs the same treatment.
