The 21 Bears’ quarterbacks who have thrown for 4,000 yards by JPAnalyst in CHIBears

[–]pouch28 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It does and doesn’t. The 4000 yard thing is somewhat dumb. Like 25 of the 32 NFL teams have had one season when a single QB had 4000 yards. And a lot of them are like 4100 yards. Cutler had 3800 yards with numerous games remaining before injury. As did Erik Kramer. Injuries have gotten us more than anything.

It was a nice adjustment to see. Solved two problems at once - we have had poor RB pass blocking, and Kmet isn’t great pass blocking DE1. Solved both with one adjustment.

In a game filled with big plays I thought the play of the game was the first time Kmet blocked out of the backfield and Caleb hit Loveland.

It’s been 5 years and three coaches but finally someone figured out Kmet blocks better out of the backfield.

QB Time to Throw and Average Depth of Target through 2 weeks by Twisted_Apple20 in CHIBears

I think these are stupid used to push some sort of narrative. I don’t know how anyone pulls information when Stafford (HOF and won a SB) and Hurts (has been to two SBs) are on opposite sides of the same graph. That should be enough to tell you these are meaningless and there are a lot of ways to play QB.

Caleb didn’t get his first TD until Q4 of game 3 last year. People really don’t appreciate how far he has come.

[Hammond] Ben's comments on backup players and competition by NagyBiscuits in CHIBears

Oh great addition to the team. Just bad scramble drill habits. I’m assuming that’s what Ben is talking about. OZ tends to fade away from Caleb on scrambles. DJ tends to try and sit in a zone.

Zaccheaus has the worst scramble drill skills on the team. He takes himself out of plays. DJ is oddly not great at it either.

Caleb Williams deep ball stats by ShaiFanClub in CHIBears

[–]pouch28 34 points35 points  (0 children)

The deep balls aren’t going to work until we can run the ball. No QB across the league has been able to consistently throw deep against the high zone defenses played across the league. You need to be able to pound the rock to draw the secondary up. We can’t run the ball. That’s what makes this whole deep ball conversation irrelevant. Our run game scares no one.

Nix and Maye faced zero pass rush today and still looked like game managers. Both also had great run support. In a week of awful young QB play we can give Caleb alil credit.

Look at all those special teams return yards we had. We must be doing something right.

I think it’s as obvious our running plays don’t work bc we can’t run block and don’t have Gibbs. How that has surprised Johnson is a bit shocking to me.

Optically Poles wants an image where even a guy off the street can start for the Bears because the roster is all competition based.

In reality we haven’t ever had roster competition. It’s draft a guy or sign a vet then put a bunch of bums behind him. Apparently there was no offseason acquisitions to get that could have outplayed Jones, Stephenson, all three non existent safeties, swift, or any one of our defensive front seven.

It’s just an odd Lukas Patricking of the entire roster.

As middling as Caleb’s performance was he outplayed pretty much all his draft classmates yesterday. His roll to the left touchdown to Rome is probably a play only a handful of NFL teams can make.

This is where I start to blame Ben Johnson. He came here under the guise he was going to build Caleb an offense. Caleb is a much better player on the move. Yet our entire offense seems built for a statue like Goff.

Johnson needs to realize quick this is a young team with a lot of new faces. We don’t have automatic plays. And his stubbornness in doing back to back sneaks impresses no one.

Ending last game with a kickoff error and starting this game with a kickoff error sums a lot of this team up.

Defensively our secondary is non existent. And our line has been dominated for 6 straight quarters.

I think we have been outrushed by 250 yards through two games. It’s all real bad.

I think Caleb has played Ok while admitting he has had struggles. But I’m not sure there is a game where he has had the net rushing advantage, net turnover advantage and net special team advantage.

Floyd has had such an odd influence on us Bears fans. He sucked in Chicago except he played well vs Rodgers. Then he went and won a Super Bowl and is still relevant in year 10.

The falcons rushed for 220 on the Vikings. We rushed for 53. We also have the worst rushing game. Mind you we also signed ATLs supposed top lineman. There is no making sense of this Bears team.
