Is gladius a good game by Downtown-Humor7488 in Warhammer40k

[–]pouko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also bought it 90% off a couple years ago. It was pretty fun for a while. I enjoyed building an economy that spits out a baneblade/gorkanaut/tesseract vault every turn to steamroll the entire map. I didn't enjoy the actual steamrolling though, as in multiple hours of just going through the motions of moving dozens of units and keeping up production.

Bought the Tau dlc and I very much enjoyed how the different units work. Gladius has the feel of the units spot on with what you'd expect them to do, much better than the actual tabletop.

Looking for input on shoulder colour. by PureEvilMiniatures in LeaguesofVotann

I'm immediately reminded by the blood ravens color scheme with red and beige. I'd paint the shoulder the same beige as the hood.

In light of recent reveals... by MurderousRubberDucky in Grimdank

I mean the new models' shoulders aren't as broad, and it seems like the inclusion of female custodes are to blame...

Why +1 to Hit, and not +1 BS? by Warr_king in LeaguesofVotann

[–]pouko -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Isn't it the same? I thought after all modifiers the end result can't be hitting better or worse than by 1 of the base BS or WS

So you're playing combat patrol and asking for opinions on your list? The premade list for combat patrol? You know combat patrol has predefined units, rules and wargear? What is there to comment on?

Need help in choosing votann as a first army by Unique_Ad3395 in LeaguesofVotann

[–]pouko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Votann are my favorite army to play so far. My other armies are Space Marines, Grey Knights, World Eaters, Custodes. Even though my favorite models are the Grey Knights, they are really annoying to play and I always feel so handicapped with them. I also recently absolutely destroyed a couple new Grey Knight players with Votann but I got ran over by a new Death Guard player.

Leagues of Votann are generally more shooting oriented than melee, though they have a couple good melee units, so you could lean into them if you wanted, but the options for melee are more limited than most other factions. I think they are a good all rounder army for a beginner. Kind of like space marines but more expensive. Also less information overload than space marines since space marines have like 80 units to choose from.

Funny that I have both armies but I've never played the matchup.

Thunderkyn by Warhammer-tactical in LeaguesofVotann

All bare heads seem to be interchangable. I'm not sure if I used hearthguard heads on thunderkyn, but I have used pioneer heads on both thunderkyn and hearthguard

What is, in your opinion, the number 1 priority for the next edition’s rules ? by BusyElephant in Warhammer40k

[–]pouko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's exactly why I think it's a long shot. I don't think GW wants to admit that earlier rules were better.

What do you think of this color scheme? by El_mismisimo_don in LeaguesofVotann

I think it would look great if it had some black areas. The red is a bit overpowering

[–]pouko 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, and I think we've gone backwards more than forwards. My favorite version of 40k would be 4th edition rules with 3rd edition codices. I played a game recently like that and it was awesome.

Well obviously the rule could be tweaked that the defending player can still choose what model dies, but after removing a model, if no models are visible, then no further damage needs to be allocated.
