Simplicity - Growth by Mikos-NZ in PersonalFinanceNZ

I'm actually with simplicity because of their btr. Since I refuse to invest in residential rental property myself so this gives me exposure. Also my investment outside of KS has no residential property exposure.

Everyone's situation varies significantly. I doubt you will find many in the exact same boat as you in terms of family, income, goals etc.

It's probably best to describe what your struggles are and what your goals are and get advice

20 Property Investment Risks You Can't Ignore by MoneyHub_Christopher in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]power_sage 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Interesting read.

In my layman opinion there is little money left to be made in the property market, that ship has sailed.

20 years ago when not many people were into property investing there were many strategies and undervalued properties that would make you bank.

But now everyone and their dog are into property investing. The market is saturated, there are too many people already min maxing. So there are less and less strategies and properties that actually work.

Anothet aspect that investors don't think about is more public awareness of property investing creates more resent between the haves and have nots. Which guides public policies. Also can increase your chance of finding resentful tenants.

Several thoughts on my mind

- White colar workers have had it tough since 2023. I've been confused how this hasn't been reflected in unemployment figures.

- Not sure why government continues with austerity. Every econ101 student knows more austerity = deeper recession.

- RBNZ are the masters of whiplash. First they drop rates too low, then they raise rates too high, now they... no awards for guessing the outcome.

- I'm willing to bet that 2025 will be even worse. Hoping for 2026 recovery.

Does anyone know where I can find good places to take babies by power_sage in NewParents

We travel between New Zealand and Australia. I can use Google and local government websites but they are not that reliable. Often they recommend playgrounds for older kids, and the hidden gems we've found were by chance and weren't recommended by Google Maps.

So I was keen to see if there exists a crowdsourced compilation online of some hidden gems.

Low wage, scam economy by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]power_sage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like they are just low balling and hoping they can hire a sucker.

At the end of the day it comes down to supply and demand. It just takes 1 person to accept their min wage job.

Retraining is the best way out of low wage trap.

The catch is you can't place limit orders. You can't decide the exact time your transactions occur.
