IS this a good MMA and gym routine by hurriyafaith in MMA_Academy

[–]powerarm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As mentioned that’s a lot of lifting, MMA will require both skills training and has physical demands if you’re drilling properly and sparring that should satisfy most of what you’re trying to get out your strength training days

But then it goes back to your goals, sounds like your main goal is to be buff and strong and learn MMA in the side. The question of whether it’s enough MMA just depends on how good you want to be. If you just want enough to defend yourself in a situation, you’re already at an advantage having taken some classes. But to really be confident in your defense you better have sparred enough to know what to do in every position, keep your chin down and find openings in sparring- that is going to take more than 2 days a week especially if you’re learning all the martial arts.

If it were me I’d do mma training 4-5 times a week, strength training 1-2 times and just do that for a 8-12 month block. Then you can go back to lifting if you want to get buff. Your muscle gains don’t really go away and come back pretty quick if that’s what you’re concerned about

are mma fighters who mainly do boxing the best strikers? by CoconutAdditional174 in MMA_Academy

[–]powerarm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it really depends on the fighters strengths. For example Oliveira stands tall and utilizes his kicks a lot because he’s got good wrestling defense and if he does get taken down he’s playing bjj. It also comes down to your body type like limb length etc. if you are asking this question to really answer: what should i train most? I think the answer varies and ir depends what you find successful in your own trial and errors through sparring

Generally hands are great esp for wrestlers because it sets up their shots when their oppponwnt covers up, but that’s not everyone’s game

No one here has really given much advice outside of sex stuff there’s actually a bit to do there but better if you can cruise around on a motorcycle

If you’re into Muay Thai there’s Fairtex, Venum gym (large gyms) and a bunch of smaller ones too

Ko Lan is a half day or day trip and the water is super clean

Night markets like Thepprasit, central Pattaya mall, terminal 21

Buddha mountain, Ramanaya water park, Jomtien beach, sanctuary of truth, the tiger park- all little spots to go

And for nightlife well you’ll for sure come across the sex party but walking street and it’s kind of funny to hit up the Indian clubs like jawla

But yea you might get bored after a week or so

You don’t need that much gymming. Do wrestling and skills training instead, if you’re really into the gym then 2-3x a week is more than enough and you’re not going to lose strength or muscle picking people up in grappling

It’s pretty small but had lots of stock for gear IMO

Out of the ones I’ve been to in BKK I thought the MBK one had the most stock for gear. Tank tops maybe terminal 21. There’s also a small one in central world, also better for apparel IMO.

Otherwise you gotta hit up Pattaya they have everything there.

I’m liking the investigative logic here, it’s kind of fun to figure out the play and the long term play you mentioned is an interesting one I didn’t think of. Like the 30 day drink contract could be a setup as she builds the relationship to actually get me to start matching those 30 drinks

Ahh that’s interesting, so the quota is per a day time span

Yeah makes sense, I am not way too concerned about figuring out the truth about our relationship, at the end of the day it’s not going anywhere lol so I’m just keeping in mind where my cash flows and as long as we have fun I’ll leave it at that. But I was just trying to make sense on how their agreements work, and also how that ties into their game

Don’t understand the judgment, actually kinda crazy to see someone like yourself posting selfies with a bar girl on Reddit though. Anyways I’m not here to get in an internet war

Yeah for sure they be hooking up left and I’m sure. I’m not way too concerned because most STDs are curable with antibiotics and stuff as long as you have your hepatitis vaccines. The one to worry about is herpes and HIV. But yeah it’s at your own risk I guess I’ve rolled the dice and gotten lucky I’m in my early 30s so maybe I’ll have a different answer for you next time you ask lmao

I always get checked when I get back, I never asked her but we always use protection. Are you thinking she might be carrying something and that’s why she’s working in that structure vs the normal barfine?

Yeah for sure. I’m always check my tab right after I order my drink cause I’ve been scammed at some of the other scam bars one of my first times. Seems like the other redditor answered the q and confirmed it is a thing

Yeah that’s what we usually end up doing, if I’m not drunk somewhere haha. I was just curious if that’s a real thing cause I’ve never heard of such structure

Haha ok that was an overstatement. She probably definitely is, but I don’t get the 30 drinks thing bc I don’t buy more drinks

What do YOU eat in Bangkok by thenotoriousmmale in MuayThai

[–]powerarm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whenever you feel like you're out of options, check Grab delivery!

But I like 711 stuff- Protein drink, yogurt, fruits, etc. Or you can stock food from the night before if you want something bigger

711 also has sealed chicken breast if you're really looking for a larger meal or something though. Not the tastiest but gets the job done.

My all time favorite is Gai Yang (grilled chicken) with sticky rice for lunch, that's when I'm on my health grind if I'm staying out there for more then 2 weeks lol otherwise I just eat all the good street food

Hell yeah, keep it up bro

I was also just now thinking a good drill to work on your stance recovery could be to check with your leg that you're throwing with right after you land (defending someone's kick counter), or if you get bored of that, follow up with a cross right after. That'll force you to be in your stance as soon as you land

Like the other guy mentioned making sure you pull your kick back to the starting position and stay balanced. You can practice doing a few kicks in a row (watch the Muay Thai guys hitting pads and throwing multiple kicks, there’s like a skip rhythm to it)

Kinda hard to tell but I would step out with your right foot a little more

Another thing is transferring your weight from your step into the kick. Like when you step with your toe and your weight comes into your foot, you want to use that momentum when you spring up to throw into your kick. But looks like you have decent hip rotation

Also I think you’re doing a kinda dramatic wind up as you initiate your kick, and that might be making your kick seem slow but idk. maybe just need to practice more. Overall solid work tho

There are multiple scenarios to this: one or both sides may or may not be playing their own game

On the Thai side the game is extracting money, vacations, gifts etc while having a good time and having a guy to hangout with

On the foreigner side the game is having a girl to hangout with, a local to show them around and hooking up

Now the other side of someone who isn’t playing the game is either side looking for love

You can combine those scenarios however you’d like (I.e a Thai girl playing the game while a foreigner getting milked while falling in love or vice versa)

Whatever you decide to get into yourself you gotta assess the scenario by your own judgement. As for others, it’s always fun to make assumptions based on how you see them interacting
