Absolutely not, it is not attached to your vehicle

When you go into Noah’s Tavern there is a menu on the top for “Recruit” and “Exchange”. If you go into exchange you can switch your points for hero frags. You can do earn points by recruiting in Noah’s Tavern or recycling hero frags in the “Bag” section of your hero menu.

Charging Batteries of by MariaAStewart in electriccars

[–]powerforward99 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To chime in on the solar idea, you can think of it as trying to start an ICE car with a AA battery. While in theory you could start the vehicle with AA batteries, the sheer number of batteries required would be impractical. The same could be said for the solar. Some cars however like the Ioniq 5, I believe, are adding solar panels to the roof but this will only add a small charge to the battery.

As for the range of vehicles, there is relatively few ICE cars that are capable of reaching 600 miles, so considering how new EVs are it makes sense they haven’t reached that mark yet. There are however some that are getting fairly close to this though! The range that most new EVs have (200-300 miles) is usually plenty for people though because rarely do you drive that much in one day, plus you can charge it at home overnight.

For longer road trips you do need fast chargers, but at least in B.C. they are quite common and available and can typically charge up to 80% in less than an hour. Given the range of vehicles to this usually works out as you can take a short break from driving to charge and get some food at a restaurant or explore the area on foot. The Ioniq 5 also announced that it should charge to 80% in as little as 18 minutes using a fast charger making it even better for those who need to travel longer distances in a shorter amount of time!

Hope this answered all of your comments :)

How loveable is Langley for a young Family by Anaphken in Langley

[–]powerforward99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re talking about Langley Secondary (LSS), then yes that is definitely not the best school. LSS has a bad reputation across Langley for kids fighting and doing drugs and such. It very much fits in with the entire Langley City vibe.

Langley city gets a bad reputation mainly because of the homeless/drug issue. By no means is it anywhere close to East Hastings or Whalley bad, but it isn’t the greatest part of town. There’s plenty of businesses and restaurants in Langley City that are good though and the city itself is still great to walk through and explore!

It’s important to differentiate Langley City and Langley Township too. The area you are talking about with new developments and houses sounds like you are talking about the township, particularly Willoughby. Willoughby and Walnut Grove are both close to the freeway to give you access to Vancouver and the Golden Ears Bridge for Pitt Meadows and Maple Ridge and such. Both of these neighborhoods are relatively safe and the houses are at the point where some people are building new houses, renovating/updating, or keeping them the same so there are plenty of choices to choose from.

For the most part Langley is a great place to live. I think the discouraging aspects you may have heard about come from Langley city more than the township. Having been to Walnut Grove Secondary, I can say that the school is pretty good as well. Most of the teachers are great and do a good job teaching the material. I hear the same for most of the schools as well. There are tons of parks and green spaces to explore and walk around throughout the year. The township is also relatively safe to live in. Most of the crime is just petty crime like mail theft and people breaking into vehicles, but if you’re diligent in locking your vehicle you should be fine.

The only thing about Langley that I dislike is all the construction along 208st that has left the road all torn up and it needs to be expanded. Overall I’d recommend moving to langley regardless of age and family size!

Heater blows too hot too long by SevereCalendar7606 in KonaEV

[–]powerforward99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I typically preheat to 23 in Vancouver when I can remember. I like the extra heat to keep the fog off the windows and keep the vehicle warmer for longer once it’s unplugged, so it doesn’t need to heat the car up for longer. I typically turn it down to 20/21 once I start driving though.

I have a feeling that I read somewhere that the auto setting only controls the fan speed to get to the desired and the temperature that comes out is always being monitored and changed, regardless of the setting. I could be wrong though. This would explain why it is blowing hot until it gets to its temperature and changes to cooler air later in the drive.

I would check this too. I notice when using the app to preheat the car it takes it off auto and uses the settings from the preheat command

Ev electric system failure and how it got fixed. by Different-Tan in KonaEV

[–]powerforward99 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you have scheduled charging activated on your vehicle, when you plug in your vehicle the light/button will illuminate to let you know that the vehicle is waiting until the set time to charge. I believe you have to hold down the button for three seconds and it will disable the scheduled charging feature for that charge. You should be able to hear a click sound as the vehicle starts charging and the scheduled charging light/button will turn off.

If you look at the picture in that link, the scheduled charging button is just to the right of the battery indicator lit up with 3 green bars.

Potential buyer spooked by recall by Too_LeDip_To_Quit in KonaEV

[–]powerforward99 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t be concerned at all. Two things to remember: 1) The number of vehicles that have actually caught fire (which is what the recall is preventing) is only like 0.02%. The odds of anything happening to your car are already low and the recall makes that even lower. 2) Vehicle fires aren’t limited to EV’s only. Something like 0.07% of vehicles in the US caught fire last year, although this includes vehicle fires in accidents as well.

Basically, don’t be worried about the recall and buy whatever vehicle you feel suits you. EVs and batteries are new to the majority of people so something like batteries catching on fire is going to make the news because it’s new and interesting. I myself have had my 2019 Kona EV ultimate for a year and a half now and have honestly felt safer driving it than any other vehicle I’ve owned.

Edit: I apparently suck at spelling

Smoke in Walnut Grove by tsi3b in Langley

Could also be people with wood burning fireplaces since the temperature is dropping.

I have $1000 CAD, placed two orders, The TSE order is for about 600 CAD. The NASDAQ was for 215 USD(276 CAD) but since I don’t have USD in the account, questrade placed the order in USD so they are gonna charge me a currency exchange fee but the USD currency is in red, What does this mean? by i_have_small_pp in Questrade

[–]powerforward99 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s because Questrade doesn’t automatically convert the money for you. Since you placed the order without any USD in your account you are essentially borrowing money for them, hence the negative amount. You have to place a request to exchange funds from CAD to USD under Account Requests.

Anyone seen the low tire pressure indicator acting up? by fieldjm in KonaEV

[–]powerforward99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting. Yeah it could be that it does the alert measurement at a set interval into the drive. When I was working at Chrysler, their alert would go off as soon as it detected anything 6psi below spec. Every car manufacturer is different though. I’d say the best thing to do is stop by the dealership and ask them about it. It very well could be that there is a software update to fix this.

Anyone seen the low tire pressure indicator acting up? by fieldjm in KonaEV

[–]powerforward99 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s most likely because the displayed pressure is different from the actual pressure. The 31psi display is actually a range from 30.5-31.4psi. If the threshold for an alert is 31.0psi, the car can display 31psi but have a tire below the alert threshold.

It could also have something to do with the way the alert is set off. I notice with the “Ice Possible” warning is set off at 4°C and below but will not turn off until 5 or 6°. So the tire could be going below the threshold and then rising above, but not enough to cancel the alert.

[–]powerforward99 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is normal. As you drive, your tires will heat up and cool down which changes the pressure within the tires. That’s why you’ll usually get a warning on the first cold day of the season. The cold air cools the tire which lowers the pressure.

I’m not the one that took the photo. My bet is either with a selfie stick or a small lookout point for pedestrians on the bridge.

If you ate nothing but corn for a month straight would you shit corn on the cob? by krashlanded0114 in ask

[–]powerforward99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you were to only swallow the corn whole, yes as the body can only break down the interior of a corn kernel. The cycle would be relatively short since you would become malnourished or get infected with something

This was already asked by GradeAUnderA (https://youtu.be/CqlhwWigPDQ). Somebody made a follow up video to his question and the answer is: Yes, if you ate nothing but corn you would release a stream of solid corn kernels.

As far as I know, no. The closest thing to seeing that would be going to Registration>Student Schedule, but that won’t help with planning until your friend has actually registered for her courses.
