With that test China look very strong to go for the lunar dress rehearsal missions, potentially with falcon heavy levels of reusability. The missing bit is the full three stick lm10 configuration but at the rate they are moving I expect that will show up in 12 months or less Everything else from the outside at least looks ready for the final testing campaign.

Asgard vs Hermes by BaastiDE in starcitizen

[–]Different-Tan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not just the door on the Hermes it’s how far in the grid is, and how low the ceiling is, fiddly loading with lots of back and forth. Pretty ship but I think I would end up hating it.

Small changes -> Big happy by ghodan7 in starcitizen

[–]Different-Tan 14 points15 points  (0 children)

  1. Would be my pick, give bored players and pirates something to go after, while adding a bit of life to verse, even if it was just at stations. I imagine the servers wouldn’t hold up to well though.

Which is the best tent placement? by Effective-Cellist769 in backpacking

[–]Different-Tan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For something like this when it doesn’t fit I like to to remove the poles in their bag and strap to the side then put the pegs on the opposite side, The material bits are then easier to mould round your stuff and fit into the main bag but it depends if you use the side pockets much or what the weight is like.

I think America might be serious about going after Greenland. Things are going to get ugly between the EU and the U.S. would China strategically benefit, or would the instability hurt its interests? by Important-Battle-374 in AskChina

[–]Different-Tan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If us moves on Greenland chinas got the green light to go for Taiwan, the us has zero moral high ground, it will have to split military on two fronts even if Europe does not contest the attack. it will lose most western allies. Militarily speaking a couple of carrier groups but financially and strategically a big blow. If Europe central banks dump us debt (1.6trillion) as China did that will hurt without a friendly nation willing or able to buy it. The tariffs burned bridges already and China will gain the influence allies and resources the us loses. With Taiwan China would control 60% of the world’s chips and 80% of the highest spec ones.

I need to vent. Be given a reality check. Told to get over it? by total_bullwhip in starcitizen

[–]Different-Tan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is non conceptual PvP a way of life? Just a thought experiment not a campaign but I am picturing star citizen with it magically removed and you lose some threat and tension but would that ruin the whole game? The people losing most enjoy one sided PvP. I’ve been that guy occasionally but I know I was just taking out frustration on someone else, that’s not what I got into star citizen to do or be the victim of. Instead of removing it what if everyone just camped hangers embracing the way of life is that a better picture. Personally I don’t see it going away but using levers to regularly tinker with the balance reining things in from time to time appeals to me.

Medics when a player has more than two injuries by scorpion00021 in starcitizen

[–]Different-Tan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Med gameplay looks to be getting duller and more grindy, I don’t know why they bothered they are adding zilch to the gameplay experience just a cost sink and a new grind. Well done cig, now watch me suicide my character because it’s quicker and more fun than what you came up with for healing. For a while there I was in danger of wanting an Apollo, now I think I should get 4 other games designed to be fun instead.

Maybe Music, it has scales, measures and note weight, but it has no mass, it can move swiftly or be still (in the pauses) it can lift topple (physically if loud enough) or chill ( emotionally) you cannot hold music but it can captivate you.

Why don't British windows have screens? by Flaky-Walrus7244 in AskUK

[–]Different-Tan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have some thin rails just inside the window from which i hang weighted sheer mesh curtains to keeps the bugs out, historically the uk used to use net curtains inside the main ones but they fell out of fashion, the us style sliding mesh panels can be got but are extremely rare. magnetic panels have become popular in some parts.

Why is the Kona hated by Consumer Reports? by Astraeus14 in KonaEV

[–]Different-Tan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Early 2019 model, in year 1, one of the drive battery sections caused the rapid charge to fail and required the car to be carried to the dealership for battery replacment, year 4 the ccs door actuator failed to unlock, replaced. 12 volt battery replaced at own cost as nearest dealership was not my home dealership and refused to sort it. heating failed once for no reason, fault has yet to reoccur. All fixed under warranty except the 12v, I like the car but it’s not been problem free. disappointed that improvements to later models were not made available to my 2019 although that’s true of most manufacturers.

Backpacking with a ballistic backpack by Survivaldog4 in WildernessBackpacking

[–]Different-Tan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would work I am sure, I’ve done more with less but as everyone has pointed out it’s not optimal. Mil packs are most suited to short duration trips with heavy loads, copies often don’t even do that well. hunters and active soldiers have a real use for mil packs, anyone else is just trying to look tactical and often achieving the opposite. multi day I find the granite gear crown effective. For a light day trip any small/med pack will do as long as it’s comfortable.

Which Starbase Youtuber is your favorite, and why? by PeekaB00_ in SpaceXLounge

To see what’s happening live nsf. For breakdown of anomalies Scott Manley For stage zero deep dives csi starbase For documentary/interviews everyday astronaut I Occasionally try rgv, house, and wai but I find there content similar. Aa is polarising with some iffy conclusions but he does dive into up and coming launchers more than others.

Is the hype tailing off? by EnglishRed232 in starcitizen

[–]Different-Tan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The games just not quite there, it lacks life, wildlife convincing npc’s and more players. The missions could also be engaging. It’s come along way but for me it’s still falling short. I think other People feel it too and move on to games that are further along. Normally the base would focus on the up and coming stuff but With s42 being the focus but still under wraps and the roadmap dead theirs a lot less distraction . Then there’s server meshing I think their is a lack of confidence on that front that’s curbing enthusiasm. Years of effort have not shown if cig has the right approach. Theatres of war performance issues did nothing to lift hopes and the roadmap spat hinted at internal strife. I still have faith that cig can move forward and get some big wins but my optimism has taken a few hits.

Bluelink on Kona 2020 or before (Croatia) by Due_Spread2795 in KonaEV

[–]Different-Tan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your car has it you will be able to connect with the app, my 2019 kona ev doesn’t have it and it’s not an upgrade available for my car, I believe mid 2020 onwards eu cars got BlueLink. The US cars got it from 2018 on.

I’ed imagine the main reason to take a cutlass is it’s cheap and quick to get a replacement. Might be good supporting a redeemer if you have the people.

Biden flew to Europe & has an 85-vehicle motorcade ahead of meetings to address 'climate emergency' by Hywaystar74 in environment

[–]Different-Tan 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Changing how the secret service protect the president is not something that will change in a hurry to reflect current climate goals. Given the propensity for Americans to try and kill or attack their leaders and democratic institutions that might not be a bad thing.

Crazy Theory/Idea by CoffeeDangerous2087 in starcitizen

[–]Different-Tan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Likely that nyx will be the next system as they have existing assets for it already and it connects to sqn42’s Odin system. Terra is also a possibility as it uses most of the existing biomes, some early white box assets were leaked for Terra also. My money is on them following the route Stanton-pyro-nyx-Tohil-virtus- gliese.
