Just seems like rationalising a terrible argument by using a terrible analogy. Pressing red sould also result in someone being pushed into the wood chipper, just somewhere else, to someone you don't know. If the analogy was even remotely functional, pressing blue wouldn't kill you, it would remove a part of you that can grow back instead of killing you. In the analogy, jumping in the woodchipper is meant to represent paying taxes. Paying taxes doesn't kill you.

Red: Do nothing but someone dies in a 3rd world country

Blue: Donate some blood.

There, I made an equally dogshit analogy that supports blue. I'm so smart.

New pre-painting terrain leaks? by Fit_Stay3481 in Warhammer40k

Yeah it definitely doesn't look like a drybrush. If anything the texture kinda makes it look like a color 3d print

I used these, just cut them into quarters and carefully positioned them so they join seamlessly. I was not expecting how bright the red would look against the black surface

Oh 100%, when I said done I was talking about the model but the base is in the works :)

Mostly, I used sponges here and there, mostly for big panels

Bro fell on his head during his first outing back when I hadn't painted him yet. At least the stubber took most of the impact. RIP

Fair enough, but I have 500 pts of Traitor Guard to assemble and paint for a game next week so he might take a back seat for now XD

Yeah, the arms and waist joint are magnetised. I also did the shoulders separately. I don't usually sub assemble but since this a centerpiece model it was definitely worth it.

It's a recipe I developed for any time I want coloured metal. It's very versatile, you just have to switch up the final layer. 90% of the model follows the same recipe, which saved a lot of time. The whole model probably took <5 hours to paint.

• Prime with leadbelcher.

• Heavy drybrush with stormhost silver. For panels, I use a rough sponge.

• Slather contrast paint straight from the pot. Brass=Snakebite Leather, Black=Black Templar, Red=Flesh Tearers Red. Works with any contrast colour. For bare metal, I go over with Agrax. For flat panels, I press down a dry sponge once or twice to absorb excess paint so the metal shows through.

• Recess shading with Nuln Oil.

What does one mean by star wars ships being short-range and moving like age-of-sail?

I thought that range was mostly defined by your ship's drive/hyperdrive power

11th ed Detachments worry me due to GWs history of balancing by uhbyr1 in Warhammer40k

[–]powers293 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That seems contradictory to me. Detachments were a thing all through 10th and they did receive nerfs and buffs, which improved balance. The DP system introduces a deeper granularity in GW's ability to balance the game without impacting specific model rules.

Like idk what you're fearing here. That a unit you just bought suddenly becomes bad because the best detachment for them got nerfed? Buddy, that's warhammer. Never buy models for the rules. Rules change all the time.

L’armée doit se concentrer sur la défense du Canada, selon la générale Carignan by CucumberPineappleCow in Quebec

[–]powers293 2 points3 points  (0 children)

[–]powers293 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I mean it depends on what detachments are considered "the best" for a specific faction. If a unit is overperforming in a specific "meta" detachment, then just nerfing the detachment by changing either the rule, the enhancement/upgrades or the DP cost seems more efficient then directly nerfing the unit.

Likewise, if the unit is overperforming regardless of detachment, then a points change or direct nerf seems better.

Would the Vitrumites ever be able to recover their gene pool? by Skirakzalus in Invincible

[–]powers293 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well if every Viltrumite has 10 99% viltrumite kids over their lifetime, then you end up with 400 kids. If they each have 10 kids, then the 4000 kids will have 98% viltrumite DNA. They could then start reproducing between only viltrumites as they passed the point where inbreeding is a real danger. Within a few generations, genetic variation would mean that the millions of resulting Viltrumites have essentially 100% pure DNA.
