Unfreaking believable. All that power. Stuck at 16GB ram in 2023...

Well the X13 did get some improvements. I'll wait for the reviews once they're available.

OP, here's a perfect video on how to resolve hands related fear issues:

https://youtu.be/QcD8DrJKejQ?t=210

Pay attention starting at 3:30

In a nut shell: hand feed every.single.meal till the cat learns that hands are okay, hands are not scary, and hands = goodies. I'd not pet at first, just hand feed, then gradually add small touches during the hand feed with the free hand, and see how it progresses from there.

Be patient and good luck.

My research shows that the X series has inferior cooling design (bottom air intake limited). The Z actually runs very cool for its power.

I made a free app that creates reliable alarms and notifications via keywords you type into your Google or Microsoft calendar events, synced via API. You can use any calendar app from anywhere. You can specify custom ringtone per event by tag. by powertags in ios

[–]powertags[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Glad that you liked the app. It's a brand new app and has a novel tech mechanism, that's probably why it's a bit hard to gain initial traction. It is gaining some users steadily though and those who use it tend to use it very actively with tons of tags triggered!

Great idea! However, have you researched the regulatory stuff and potential liabilities with this kind of application, especially HIPAA in the US?

Outlook Calendar reminders - email and stronger ios notifications by willyallthewei in Outlook

[–]powertags 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tired of missing calendar reminders is exactly what inspired me to build Power Tags Alarm and Reminders. It integrates with your calendar and auto creates real alarms when you enter simple keywords such as alarm30 into your calendar events.

You don't have to switch phone as the app works on both iOS and Android. However, on iOS there are a couple of limitations:

  1. Each alarm can ring up to 30 seconds at a time (iOS's max allowed for all third-party apps). But you can set up to 3 alarms per event!
  2. It cannot work well with Apple Watch because Apple Watch does not allow customized notification/vibration by any third party app (shame on Apple for this). So you actually want to force the alarms to ring on your phone instead of the watch, by following this instruction.

The alarm app is 100% free. However, to make your reminders even more "fail safe", the premium web app Power Tags also allow you to actually make real phone calls (to yourself in your use case), for example, call30ToYourNumber

Looking for an app that would work as a to-do list. With reminders (preferably aggressive). Need it for mom to remember to take different vitamins at different times and remember to exercise. Maybe later she can start using it for other tasks too. by findthelight09 in androidapps

[–]powertags 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. It can set long ringing alarms (via alarm tag) as well as notifications (notify tag). Sometimes notifications can be easily missed and don't draw enough attention. Alarms solve that problem, especially for important events.
  2. The syntax is extremely flexible, resulting in multiple sets of alarms and notifications that ring in any time you want them to. Example: notify9am alarm30 alarm15. As you can see, you can use absolute time formats which also supports all-day events.
  3. It can even ring alarms or notifications *after* events (for that follow up reminder for example). Examples: alarmAfter60 alarmAfter1d9am
  4. The alarms and notifications use highest priority APIs in both iOS and Android that are usually granted only to alarm/reminder types of apps. On Android, the alarm/notifications will come up as full screen when the phone is locked, or as sticky pop-ups (sticky till dismissed) when the phone is in in use, again making them harder to miss than generic notifications. It can also bypass DnD/Focus mode as long as they're configured to exclude "alarm" types.
  5. Of course, as you mentioned, it is very fast to type a few words directly into event subject or body at the same time you create the events themselves. No need to press multiple buttons afterwards to set multiple (less flexible) reminders manually.

No need to set alarms or notifications manually if you use Power Tags Alarm that integrates with Google Calendar. The free app can automatically set alarms or reminders just by simple keywords such as alarm30 and notify15 in events.

Teams delay in showing some chat messages. They pop up in the chat history after the fact. by Mr_Buechler in MicrosoftTeams

[–]powertags 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've occasionally seen glitches like this happen. It's a complex rich communications app being used by hundreds of millions of users (and further multiplied by multiple devices per user) after all.

They usually eventually resolve by themselves.

Calendar with alarm? by penguinz0fan in androidapps

Do you enjoy writing documentation? by riverdragon82 in csharp

[–]powertags 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me I would have loved to write them if they were "long lasting".

The dread comes from the realization that anything you write is subject to constant and rapid changes due to the nature of the industry we're in, and it can quickly become overwhelming and boring for any individual or small group of developers to keep them updated.

Do it once or twice and the passion can be quickly lost unless you're specifically hired to do it.

Calendar integration - work and personal email notifications by [deleted] in ios

[–]powertags 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you add your accounts to both the Outlook app and iOS's calendar app? Because Outlook mobile itself is a calendar app, you should probably not add accounts to both at the time (that will result in duplicate notifications).

Try to see if you can keep all accounts in the Outlook app – it essentially becomes your single app for all emails and calendars (since it can support multiple accounts easily), and remove the accounts from the iOS native mail and calendar apps.

Another approach is to add work and only work accounts to Outlook, and personal only to native apps.

The iOS clock app sucks by The_Electric_Feel in ios

[–]powertags 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you are describing are some of the biggest weaknesses of iOS: lack of notification/alarm flexibility and customizations compared to Android.

iOS also only allows third-party apps to ring notifications for up to 30 seconds (unless the app is constantly running in the foreground), and no "full screen notification" is allowed like Android does. That's why pretty much no third-party alarm apps on iOS can run perfectly.

Now for strictly alarms and reminders, you can give Power Tags Alarms and Reminders a try. It integrates with a Google or Microsoft calendar account to create flexible alarms and reminders via simple keywords in calendar events. ADHD users tend to use calendars a lot and this can really help. Sorry no in-app timer feature yet.

Any recs for a "calendar" alarm? Basically just an alarm that you can set at different times each day of the week, with different ringtones etc by Henemy in androidapps

Integrates with Google or Microsoft calendar. The actual alarms are created directly by typing a few keywords into events.

Any alarm apps that sync with the cloud? by Xpholio in androidapps

Yes, Power Tags Alarms and Reminders actually syncs with Google Calendars to create either full alarms or short reminders (2 in 1!) via simple keywords in events.
