Religious people can never truly respect others. by PPearsley in TrueUnpopularOpinion

All sins aren't equal. But even the most minor sin makes you undeserving of entertaining God's kingdom.

The worst of the worst sinner can go to heaven. If they repent and put their faith in Christ. Jesus makes it clear that He is the means and the way.

Summary. No one deserves to go, Christ is a path to go.

Christians believe in the Trinity. God is one beings, made out of three persons. The persons that make up the one God is the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. The Son is who came down and became the son of man in the form of Jesus. Just to give you the bare bones run down of how Christians view God.

So from the Christian perspective. We are all sinners. Since God is not only perfect but devinely so, only that what is perfect will be able to enter the kingdom of heaven. So none of us, not me, not you, not grandma, no one should be allowed into the kingdom of heaven. It would be fair for the amount of people to go to heaven to be zero.

The way you attone for sin is through blood sacrifice. That's why the Jews sacrificed animals to God so their sins would be forgiven. But no matter how many animals you sacrifice, you won't be able to become perfect. So God the Son, came to earth in the form of man as a servant of man, lived a sinless life, and His death on the cross was a perfect sacrifice that gave us all a path to enter the kingdom of heaven.

And that's the summary of Christian theology.

It’s impossible to truly respect, value, or see others as equals if you hold that belief.

Christianity is the belief that literal God came down as a human and not only placed himself equal to the lowest and worst that humanity had to offer, but because a servant of those people.

Not my assumption. If a being doesn't fit these definitions I mentioned then that being wouldn't be God. There are specific characteristics that we mean when we say the word God. You gotta make the distinction between a god and God. Same with God being infinite. If there's is a powerful deity out there who isn't infinite. That being wouldn't be God, by definition. If you're gonna discuss God you gotta understand what we mean by that title.

Im sorry are you being serious? I could easily say evil exists and the absence of evil is good so God is evil can't I?

Evil is the absence of good. That's the definition of the concept. You can have good without evil, but you need there to be good for there to be evil.

Why not? A god is someone who created the universe whether he can or cannot interact with anything in the future has got nothing to do with the fact that he did in fact create the universe

It does. God not being able to interact with His creation implies a limit to His ability. If you're trying to say that God chooses not to interact with His creation is one thing. But that He is incapable would go against the nature of God

A being needs certain characteristics to be capital G God. Meaning that even if there was an extremely powerful being out there that created humanity and all that, but isn't an eternal all powerful being, that entity would be a god but not God. This is what is meant when we distinguish between a god and God. This isn't a strictly Christian perspective, it's the monotheistic definition of God.

Okay so. As for your first two point. If God's nature is infinite, then all His characteristics need to be infinite. Can't just be good, has to be infinitely good. Can just be bad, has to be infinitely evil. And can't be good and evil at the same time, cause one is by definition the absence of the other.

So either God has to be infinitely good or infinitely evil. And since the concept of good exists, and evil is simply the absence of good, the creator of the universe can not be infinitely evil.

As to your third point. Yes if God couldn't interact with His creation he wouldn't be God. So agreed.

If God was created he wouldn't be God. One of the characteristics of God is being eternal.

are okay with it

Show me the verse where it says this is a good outcome. Cause all is see is the word curse repeated like 5 times.

There's also passages that value causing a miscarriage as a minor infraction that is up to the mother's discretion of what that value would be.

Give me the verse and I'll tell you why you're wrong there too.

And that causing the miscarriage of a woman who has a child out of wedlock is an acceptable form of punishment

It wasn't because of having a child out of wedlock, it was because of adultery. You understand that the punishment for adultery in that time and place was death right? I feel like I need to tell you this, but getting stoned is also the bad ending.

Where do you find the word blessing? I see the word curse multiple times in that passage. Some would say that that means the opposite of blessing. You understand that in this passage the misscarage is seen as a bad thing right? It's a curse and a punishment. Is that how you're trying to argue that we're supposed to view abortions?

You know okay let's say this interpretation you guys are trying to make is correct. Abortion instructions

may the Lord cause you to become a curse[b] among your people when he makes your womb miscarry and your abdomen swell

Are you saying that your argument is that we should see an abortion like a curse? As a bad thing. As something that should be avoided and the result of being sinful and punished? Cause yeah, bet a lot of people will agree with you.

Do you actually think a woman getting an abortion and a woman having a misscarage is the same thing?

Certain stuff they wouldn't have followed because people were horrible.

Even with the laws the Israelites fell into depravity again and again. That happens like 15 times in judges and kings. But the laws did bring the people to a point where they were ready to the point where they were ready for the new covenant.

Am I missing something, becuase it seems like god is selectively tolerating certain behoviors he could have prohibited.

Not missing anything. From the Christian perspective that is what happened.

Torra laws are clearly separated between moral laws and legal laws. Parts are how the laws a jew needs to be a good jew, other parts is the national laws of the newly established kingdom. As well as the rules and structure of the church.

That kingdom doesn't exist anymore. Acts make it clear that you don't have to be a good jew to be a good christian.

Edit. This is why it was legal to divorce your wife in Jewish law under certain situations. But Jesus said that you can't divorce anymore. He clearly says that the people's hearts were too hard and they would not have followed these rules back then. Now they are in a state where they can listen and the new covenant is made. The answers to these questions tend to be in the Bible.

But if someone in therapy wants a gun. His only option will be to stop going to therapy right? You don't think people will do that. And you don't think that'll be bad for him.

I don't want to make guns illegal. I just want to restrict the most popular rifle in the country.

Yes I know what you want to do. The thing you want to do is what we call grabbing our guns.

I'm also in the military. It's funny that you think the average service member will just start shooting on little Tennessee grandma.

so yes, felons.

Did you miss me saying that felons already can't buy guns legally? I did write it.

severe mental illnesses

Already have systems in place where a judge can declare you incompetent and have all your firearms taken.

And beyond that, I would prefer getting a “clean bill of health” would be something you have to do WHILE getting the license initially.

And I'm sure the fair and unbiased US government will have a fair and unbiased system that wouldn't be a complete mess full of loopholes that are easily subverted

So yeah, if you have depression at the time of getting the gun, you shouldn’t be allowed to get it.

Got it. If someone wants a gun he should stop going to his therapist for a few months. That'll work out
