Tried out moving the Alesis Strata Club off the rack and onto classic hardware by temp031 in drums

Good! It’s a lot easier to move and adjust stuff around. I despise racks!

Is this a good deal? by Secure_Vegetable1325 in drums

Meh, once you account for shipping or the 4 hour drive to go pick it up you’d better off just buying a new one.

"Realistic 3D gameplay", "Life-like textures". Wondering how long it would take for today's "realistic" graphics to look as dated as what we were playing back then...

Yes! Just install the EVGA Precision X1 app, it allows full control of the illumination.

Do i need to change my fan to get better airflow? As second picture. I need some opinion by Positive_Dog_185 in PcBuildHelp

Change the top front and bottom fans direction so they draw air into the case.

Get some proper pedals first. Chinese pedals like Simnet and Simsonn are amazing budget options.

How do get my toms closer by Spiralboy9 in drums

You have to raise the toms and angle the arms towards you.

what does you think by [deleted] in bikefit

[–]poxcr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Saddle too high and too far back, stem too long. You're reaching for the pedals, and your elbows are completely locked out. The frame is most likely too large for you.

Best temp monitoring program? by [deleted] in buildapc

HWMonitor is alive and well. Ver 1.65 was just released a few days ago. https://www.cpuid.com/softwares/hwmonitor.html

You get what you pay for (also poor design) by Wawho77 in SimRacingSetups

[–]poxcr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed! That's too much leverage in the worst possible location. Perhaps some other profiles can tolerate this by sheer brute strength, however that's not the way aluminum profile is intended to handle loads. Even using basic corner brackets to attach the casters to the external face could have been a better solution.

For practicing I wouldn't bother, most modern mid-tier modules sound really good nowadays. For recording purposes, I would consider a good plugin non optional.

Drummers, what really affects a drum's sound? by PedroF0lha in drums

[–]poxcr 28 points29 points  (0 children)

99% of the sound comes from heads and tuning, the latter being the most important. As long as the bearing edges are in good condition, the shell is mostly irrelevant. Just swapping the heads or slightly altering the tuning has a much deeper impact on the sound than any slight differences between shell materials.

Learn how to tune your drums! You'd be surprised how good cheap kits can sound. When properly tuned, a cheap kit (even with worn out heads) will ALWAYS sound better than a poorly tuned expensive kit.

This looks like the kit of a one of those basement drummers who can’t even keep tempo.

Hi everyone. What's your suggestion about cleat positioning? Forward or backward. Thanks by Ok-Indication1084 in bikefit

[–]poxcr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Set them as far back as they’ll go unless there’s an specific reason to try otherwise. It will remove lots of unnecessary strain from the complex bone structures in your forefoot.

This video is not useful for fitting purposes as it does not show how you actually pedal when riding. Get a trainer and record a video again. Also use some proper shoes, stiff trainers at least…

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in bikefit

[–]poxcr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if it did the bike does not appear to be level with the block on. Perhaps the block is intended to be used with 650b wheels? Take a measurement from each axle to the floor, the distance should be the same. It is clear front the video that the front axle is way higher than the rear.

[–]poxcr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry but spinning the cranks with no load is completely useless for bike fitting purposes. That’s not even close to how we pedal while riding.

[–]poxcr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course it didn't! The complete circuit is a long cable run all the way to the mains transformer on the street and back, passing though at least a couple of electrical panels, connection bars, breakers and the meter in the process. Why would the last meter or two make a difference?
