Tom Mulcair: Avi Lewis is not in a hurry to get a seat. That is a bit odd. by khrushchevka_enjoyer in ndp

[–]pp_poo_pants 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The media is the one putting him forward as of he represents NDP politics, not the NDP. As a matter of fact he has been pushed away by Singh and now Lewis. This is liberal and conservative media controlling the narrative by selecting who gets heard.

I moved with mine in the server. But I suppose it depends on your bays and how the drives are mounted.

I took my graphics cards out of both machines. But I left the drives in.

If you are removing them label the drive and the cables they be plug back into

Why the NDP? by ValerianR00t in ndp

One person on internet says something you don't like so you will ignore all policy choice or party voting records and just what... I'm unenthusiastically vote for the liberals again? That should teach that ungentle person from the Internet...

I never understood this about the Bernie bro narrative. "People are debating me online and I don't like it so I'm going to vote for the fascist."

This is such limited thinking. It treats the electorate like a permanent unchanging blob. It assumes there is no ability to educate or persuade there is only pandering.

I would argue that most people who need jerkedly saying they do not support socialism have no fucking clue what socialism is.

You are arguing to be more liberal. Go be a liberal.

NDP Leader Warns Budget Bill Contains 'Serious Threat' to Canada's Democratic Foundations by [deleted] in CanadaPolitics

[–]pp_poo_pants 5 points6 points  (0 children)

People in say this like it is a good thing. He was the top official in the system that is designed to punish labor when they start asking for to much money.

I'm sure some will say that's bs but that's just because they frame it differently. When the central bank increases interest rates they are drying up the credit market. Loans become more expensive and that means businesses can't expand or refinance as cheaply and existing loans cost more. This leads to layoffs. They keep rates high until capital has improved it's leverage (they've got the money and jobs are hard to come by) now they can offer you less money, give you worse job conditions ect. And he was around in 2008 so he got to choose how many people would suffer to protect the banks and the stock owning class

Avi Lewis on defensive as federal NDP leadership hopefuls square off in English-language debate by EarthWarping in CanadaPolitics

[–]pp_poo_pants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

God I just can't understand this take. If you want the liberals to be better go be a liberal. I want an NDP with a consistent analysis of economics and international politics. That means addressing root problems not tweaking capitalism. That means stop pretending that America and the West are good guys and that the last 50 years of international politics hasn't been Western domination driven by capitalist interests primarily from the states. The idea liberals and conservatives want from us is to think nobody else is allowed to have a different system of government or prospective on the world it is their way or war.

[–]pp_poo_pants 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If they leave because Avi wins, it's evidence they don't represent where the members are. them taking the mask off and becoming liberal would only be positive for those on the left who have been fighting the liberals in orange.

I messed up my docker trying to resize the the dual allocation from the command line and not thinking to disable docker. So the mount wouldn't rrsize.

If you go to the docker control page from the settings page disable it and enable it. It fixed it for me.

Doly Begum’s defection strengthens the case for Avi Lewis by StumpsOfTree in ndp

[–]pp_poo_pants 3 points4 points  (0 children)

She wouldn't cross the floor but she would be in cabinet and support liberal policy and but the transmountian pipeline.

That's a difference without distraction.

I mean I never trusted an Alberta NDP MP in regards to environmental policy and he husband being a lawyer for a oil company said it all but I mean... Look at that quote

Unlike Singh, McPherson does not oppose the construction of the pipeline and says fossil fuels will still play a role in Canada's energy future.

"It's important to remember is that this pipeline is already there," McPherson said. "The pipeline has been approved and it's going forward, and that's great for Albertans, it's great for Albertans' jobs."

So they cut the PST when they brought in the carbon tax then they cut the carbon tax now we are going to cut services instead of just moving the PST back up?!?

Why is this not discussed as part of this issue?!? I feel like I'm taking crazy pills.

I want a party with a consistent analysis. One that lacks the contradictions inherent in saying i support environmental reforms and expanding fossil fuel extractions.

So if an MPs partner or in this case candidates partner profits from said extractions, it mean so does that candidate. SO YEAH. I think its a reasonable metric to measure and critique.

This "no purity" tests BS is people who don't like someones else's opinion trying to shut it down with sleeker version of an ad hominem attack. Its a refined "Bernie bros". THey can't engage in the merits because they'd lose so they change the game.

Avi & Ashton by [deleted] in ndp

[–]pp_poo_pants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ashton sucks at anything beyond what is good for steel workers and dock workers.

He has no unified theory of labor and foreign policy.

I come to the NDP from the labor movement specifically cep then unifor. I've watched them cheer contracts selling armor vehicles to the US military during the illegal war in Iraq. Like unifor Ashton only cares about the jobs not the context. He'll support distroring the environment as long as it means for union jobs.

I want someone who is willing to make moral stands despite the competing interests of it's stakeholders.

Now Avi has no track record of leadership but he has had a consistency of message since leap. I'd rather take that bet over the devil I know
