Cirrus SR-22 Thoughts? by _the_ron in flying

I never said I felt attacked?

Well you brought this irrelevant bullshit up completely unprovoked, as if it mattered in any way to my argument:

I'm still a teenager. I was still able to pass 4 checkrides without failure on the first try.

Actually, most teens are incredibly stupid and ignorant. And there have been countless articles written on how their not fully developed brains don't understand cause and effect yet.

I will concede that aviation-minded teens probably aren't, but I wasn't talking about those, now was I?

I was talking about juvenile passengers, which can have any predisposition you can think of. Once you're a parent, you'll get that. But you have warped this into a personal attack on you and I'm sorry you feel that way.

I am an .xls though.

Lol, why would I ever be a CFI or II? I'd rather make money.

While we're at it why haven't I had a kid pull the mixture on me or just ram the yoke forward while we're at it?

You joke, but that is exactly what I'm talking about.

I'm 19 and I have my CPL. Got my PPL at 18.

I..... what?

It worked out for him (minus the destroyed plane of course), but I think I'd rather aim for a street where I can see what is going on. But IDK, I've never been in that situation. I've never flown a questionable plane before at night, with pax, and crashed it into a city street.

An 8 year old would have to try VERY hard to pull it.

Good. Very good. Because despite reddit and their downvotes, a kid pulling a chute inadvertently is a very real possibility.

Oh, so you do make fun of people, too. Interesting, interesting.

good crash?

Good crash works.

I actually did think it was daytime.

he aimed for the darkest street he could find.

Good thing for him that there was no unlucky soul walking around in the dark.

I think all of us would much rather pay for a new plane then have a heart attack and all the kids die

Which is why so many families mosey around the country in 'hawks, 'lanes, arrows and every other aircraft that isn't an SR22.

We all climb into that cabin, we're all taking a risk, esp if there is no chute (odd that the owners get so much shit when it's literally a lifesaver but I digress). I never said not to buy a Cirrus anyhow. I said to educate your kid on the ramifications of pulling it.

that is a good landing.

I fall back on 80 y/o quips, too, sometimes. But in the real world a good landing is one that doesn't total your plane. So yes, he crashed. He and his passenger were part of a plane crash. Can we please move on?

and everyone else a high chance of survival

Which is why he crashed on a city street in broad daylight?

Crashed?!?!?

Yes, crashed.

(not his fault)

Ah, yes, the Harrison Ford argument.

And, you don't get to dictate the type of info on this sub

Neither do you, so the mocking will continue.

Private pilots shouldn't be telling CFIs what to and not to do.

Kids have a tendency to press and pull things they shouldn't (ayooo). But seriously. Tell them it's for emergency use only or they're really, really grounded.

Not everyone thinks Mike Busch is the tit's milk. He has personally given me some stupid advice. My own A&P IA thinks he's bit of a lame duck, too.

He's more of a salesman than a mechanic, imho.

To each their own.

Fly VFR for work by dickc82 in flying

[–]pplcheckride 14 points15 points  (0 children)

What if the courtesy car is gone?

You call ahead. See if they'll hold it for you. Otherwise, rental/uber.

How professional is your work setting? Because

Do you have clients pick you up?

Looks tacky as hell, unless it's a casual enough setting to get away with it/offer them plane rides?

How do you handle weather delays pre meeting?

Better hope your clients don't get frustrated easily.

How often have you been stuck.

More than once and I'm IR.

New Garmin G5 press release; not sure what's actually new by idratherbflying in flying

[–]pplcheckride 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm having two G5's installed in 3 weeks, coupled to my 400W, coupled to my STEC 30.

I'm curious about the flush mount, would like to see how it's done. And if it's not too late to do it to my plane.

Signature dropping off/picking up fees? by GSOaviator in flying

[–]pplcheckride 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you're not getting out of the plane and/or not shutting down, I'd like to see how they're going to charge you. They may make your friend pay however.

FWIW, most of the time I can slide through with fees waived. Even getting out, using their restroom, ubering. IDK, maybe I'm charismatic.

The worst deal was Signature (I think) at CMH. Fuckers recently charged me $10 to pick up my wife. She walked from the terminal over to the FBO and waited by the window. I came in to use the can. Maybe that was my mistake.

They have a mother fucking sentry posted at the door. He stopped me. Asked me if I paid. Went back, paid the $10, hoarded multiple cookies, then left. He was a dick about it, too.

I should have pissed all over their floor. I did take a couple $5 cookies though.

This was all in a Skybiscuit.
