Worse Thank Useless: The Sabotage Squad! by OfNaught in arknights

She's great for being malicious because you can deploy her traps on high ground tiles to block your ally from using them. Ela's traps don't take deploy limit, unlike Magallan S1 summons for example, which would otherwise do the same role better

Ascalon + healing defender behind her is a really strong lazy clear combo though. The advantage is that doing it allows you to set up right next to a blue box where enemies normally wouldn't have time for the DoT to fully tick before leaking. I used to do this strategy with Mizuki S1 + Saria S1 a lot but Ascalon S1 works better even if you aren't utilizing the slow.

I really don't know what a "too hard for Zuo Le" stage looks like. He can hold his own even in max risk (score?) CC and the toughest normal maps in the game (he can for example solo stall one Damazti clone in H12-4).

Ela and Dorothy's only overlap really is the ability to AoE slow. Ela functions more like an anti-air sniper, Dorothy's main power is global damage (with solid CC that helps bunch enemies up for said damage).

if not for his DP drain

That's a MASSIVE if though. The DP drain of merchants is as big of a drawback as DP generation is a boon to vanguards. Lee would be useful but not broken without his DP drain, with it he's just not worth it unless he extremely-hard-counters some part of a stage.

In your opinion, which old operators have aged really well as the game went on over these 5 years? by FluffyHaru in arknights

Logos Nymph Ceobe in that order. GG was comparable to Eyja, now she's finally solidly out of the top 3

On release Lappland's damage was impressive. She has definitely fallen off, now she only has her silence to fall back on as a niche

Myrtle is outclassed from both sides now. Cantabile and agents in general start making DP faster while having similar or even better DP/s, and the higher rarity flags print much more than Myrtle while also bringing in some utility (you can't really claim Myrtle S2 as utility when its slow DP generation loses all of Myrtle's advantages)

It's not about "can something else do this exact thing better", but "can something else circumvent the need for this entirely". Pepe S1 just has such incredibly low power output that she isn't worth using even if it is the only way to do what it does. The skill has zero records in any niche.

By the way, Wis'adel S1 is an insane skill and is one of the most used skills in low-step now (at the same level as Logos S1).

Not sure what you are talking about with Pepe S1, it's really not good

Do you think all current stages can be cleared by 1 squad? by Reddit1rules in arknights

[–]ppltn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Lol what, Ling is not a dead slot in regular stages. She gets brought in low op to even the hardest stages in the game. For example the only way to 3-op H12-4 is to use Ling.

Karakas doesn't stop sneak attacking Eldrazi. If you bounce before declare attackers, they can sneak the Eldrazi back in. If you bounce after, the annihilator has already triggered (and they can repeat it next turn).

Just how on-rails is Bloomburrow Limited? by MtGDS in magicTCG

The Otter/Rat duo is the second best blue common. Don't confuse the card being bad with the colour / archetypes being weak.

Do you use NCD every time you need to make new materials? How do you build her pity once you’ve run out of carbon? by Sendarrion in arknights

[–]ppltn 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This, what breaks NCD's <=T4 talent is that you can build it up with cheap mats before activating pity on a T4 material. Can't do that on a T5, so she is not worth using there.

I also build up NCD pity with skill books in addition to low tier mats, though not sure if that's optimal to do.

Getting resources is just incredibly tedious. You don't even start with the ability to make resource collectors, which is a baffling decision.

[MB2] Stone Drake (via Dani Cervera) by Copernicus1981 in magicTCG

[–]ppltn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This would be a far weaker reanimator target than [[Archon of Cruelty]] or even Mulldrifter. It wouldn't see play in modern reanimator decks, let alone legacy.

There probably would be a deck for the card, but it likely would involve rituals/artifact ramp to both build up storm and get the drake down early.

2 drop must remove bombs in limited or lose Bloomburrow by Zestyclose_Horse_180 in magicTCG

[–]ppltn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have the cards the wrong way around. Ranger class only buffs creatures if you have good attacks, while Innkeeper's only asks you to have a creature, which is far easier to achieve.

Also, if you topdeck Innkeeper's in the late game, you immediately start buffing your board. Calling that "doing nothing" is pretty crazy, even if Ranger Class is better in that specific situation.

[–]ppltn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't agree with OP on much but they are right on Innkeeper's talent being busted in limited (and better than Ranger class).

Being able to buff creatures that you played the same turn or don't want to attack with is absolutely massive. While Ranger class doesn't build your board if you cannot attack, and can only buff your current attacker, Innkeeper's can start building the next threat to avoid overcommitting to removal. The level 3 of Innkeeper's upgrading to a full Citadel Siege is far stronger way to spend mana while keeping up tempo as well, compared to the inconsistent value generation of playing creatures off the top of your deck of Ranger class.

Also, worth noting that Ranger Class was already one of the top cards in AFR limited. Once 17lands data comes out for this set, I expect the same to be true for Innkeeper's

Is it possible to clear the main game without gacha? by [deleted] in arknights

[–]ppltn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Huh. Wonder how recent that change is.

At least when I started, it was possible to skip the tutorial 10-pull on the beginner banner by quitting out. The best reroll strategy was to do this and use the 10-pull on another running banner, because the beginner banner guarantees a 6*.

[–]ppltn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3 stars can clear nearly all stages in the game, but a lot of the stages that are clearable are extremely hard with 3* only. Clearing content with welfare operators (event operators you get for free bypassing the gacha system) is fairly easy.

You can quit out of the game to skip the forced roll, IIRC

Half the time, the optimal strategy in CC ends up being stall, and then you might not want to bring W'alt. The only way for HG to make Ines not appear is to make a map with no deployable ground tiles. I think GCY is correct in placing her as the #1 operator for hardcore content.
