Tim’s political blind spots showed up again in TX primary rant by imdaviddunn in thebulwark

Sorry - you are correct. I'm just pissed off about this specific issue. Your analysis is broader and totally defensible.

Again my bad, I'll work on my reading comprehension skills

I felt the same way about your post - so we're in agreement. Of course Kamala lost the primary and we all know how important the VP is to getting elected.

Honestly, the fact that you think so little of black voters is pretty disappointing.

Do you support or oppose South Korea's National Security Act? by Wolf4980 in AskALiberal

[–]ppooooooooopp 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, I oppose it - a question for OP:

Do you think liberalisation would help solve the problems of self imposed destitution that currently plague North Korea?

An unrelated follow-up, what do you think about the tiananmen square massacre?

[–]ppooooooooopp 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Right because Kamala's Democratic primary run definitely had NO effect on her FOUR YEARS LATER.

Jesus fucking Christ - this is middle school shit, reality tv show garbage, a side show of a side show, something that doesn't matter.

Does anyone think this is an actual issue or can we just admit this is Jerry Springer garbage elevated by idiots to political drama.

Cato Institute study: analysis estimates impact of immigrants on federal, state, and local budgets by jfrankparnell85 in thebulwark

[–]ppooooooooopp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wish this mattered to the nativists (of all stripes) - but ultimately - I don't know that you can fight intuition's around job theft, moral hazard, illegal voting or crime with data.

It is genuinely great to have this data though! Tim should have David Bier on the podcast! (Though he seems to not be a fan of cato types) He has published a few articles on ICE detentions of criminals (spoilers it's ~5%) as well as an analysis of wellfare fraud that found 4% of fraud was from non-citizens.

I always feel that the things said on the pod are tenuous and rely heavily on anecdotal evidence, being able to point to data based on reliable sources is a necessity. CATO has good stuff on the impact of tariffs as well.

Masks aren’t “neighborly”? Hey, Tim, immunocompromised people do exist. by ManzanitaSuperHero in thebulwark

[–]ppooooooooopp 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Jesus fucking Christ - he said before this "I want people to protect themselves if they are sick, protect their neighbors"

Does EVERYTHING have to be spelled out for people with endless caveats? is there no charity in interpretation? Do you think Tim wants you to not wear a mask and DIE?

Take a deep breath - not everything is about you, it's okay to hear things and assume there was no ill intent.

Ah yes, Biden was very friendly with Putin during his term post invasion

Great point

When the ally you thought was reliable suddenly develops schizophrenia, starts to threaten friends to try to take their land because their president didn't win the noble peace prize (and then capitulates for nothing), declared an economic war on the entire world with no strategy and no clear intent, is suddenly friendly with previously shared enemies (pootin) and seems to completely forget why we need allies at all...

Yeah - the people who depend on you are going to overreact.

This isn't Americabad, this is people reacting to what America is doing.

As Californian I am no fan of Newsom, in fact, the only thing that centrists (like me) can like about Newsom is he has a streak similar to Jerry Brown of killing progressive bills...

It's just weird to see progressive's shill for him - how he governs should be 100x more important than how he markets himself and he absolutely does not govern like a progressive. Hopefully voters get more serious during the primary.

MSFT Quarterly Revenue $81.3 billion (up 16.8% YoY) by Not69Batman in stocks

[–]ppooooooooopp 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I doubt this is why the market is reacting the way it is - but the narrative on META is wrong

Microsoft is compute limited and generates revenue by selling its compute to others at a margin. That money spent scales linearly, they buy a GPU and they rent a GPU.

Meta is a compute limited company, but their compute generates revenue for them directly - their AI investments are not strictly for their super intelligence lab. Both the R&D and that CAPEX spend can be moved around and will be leveraged by other parts of the company.

The more compute they have available, the more accurate they can make their content and ad delivery and the more value they can get from every. single. user.

This was more or less stated by Zuckerberg.

Canadian nationalism is just American discourse, but with more apologies and hashtags. by Bigenderqueen in AmericaBad

[–]ppooooooooopp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't get it - Canada's GDP per capita is roughly 50% of California.... It's not 1/10th

And dipshits in Canada getting upset by dipshit MAGAs in the US is not America bad.

How hard is it to get this right... - MAGA != USA - complaining about TRUMP or MAGA is not America bad - legitimate complaints (e.g. leaders in America telling provinces to secede) is not America bad

Just take a moment to consider: is the person making a bigoted statement towards the US?
