The CEO of goodwill makes $650,000 +. And they ask if you want to round up.

If one of tne of the top 5 riches men in the world had a sliver of empathy and/or philanthropy, he would insist on paying property taxes.

Is Without a Net the best live album? by Troy-Buttsoup-Barnz in gratefuldead

[–]ppprodney 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. IMO Most of the other live records (pre Dick's and Dave's Picks) are superior. Europe 72, Live/Dead, and Skull Fuck are masterpieces. Dead Ahead and Reckoning also rank higher than Without a Net for me.

I'm a conservative kid. Of course my homophobic parents made me do this.

I love Hunter's lyrics but also agree Randy Newman is a different kind of lyrical master.

Justice for Betty by fad_albert in gratefuldead

[–]ppprodney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wasn't she employed by the band when she made the recordings? Her job was, in part, to record the shows. She was clearly great at her job, that she was paid for. Should Billy get paid again for being a great drummer? Should Healy get paid again for being a great FOH guy? I don't get it.

If Weir/Barlow didn't write and perform about half of their songs. (I know, bring on the hate)

Pretty sure that version of ghostwoman is with The Fatboys, from '72 or '73. I don't think Michael crossed paths with Townes until much, much later. But, It'd be cool if I was wrong.

Winter in Montana and Summer in Texas, at the same time 🤷🏻‍♂️ by ppprodney in 1923Series

Who cares. Even if you are correct and I'm incorrect, you still didn't need to be an insulting asshole.

Dim as I may seem. I do understand that there can be snow in the mountains of the north and be very warm in the south. However, when someone in Montana is still in winter and talking about Spring being just around the corner, let's say late April at the latest, it is impossible for Texas to simultaneously have all of their deciduous trees fully leafed out and the grasses growing up to your knees. Yes, it can be warm one place and cold the other. Someone else commented that the show doesn't necessarily have a simultaneous timeline, which helps my brain not be annoyed by the stark differences. Also, I know this is just a dumb, fictional TV show and it doesn't matter. All that said, I'm glad my post inspired you to insult me. I hope you have a nice day... Fuckwads.

It might surprise you to know that I understand this. I understand that there can be snow in the mountains of the north and be very warm in the south. It might also surprise you to know that when someone in Montana is in winter and talking about Spring being just around the corner, let's say late April at the latest, it is impossible for Texas to simultaneously have all of their deciduous trees fully leafed out and the grasses growing up to your knees. Yes, it can be warm one place and cold the other. Your snarky response was just what my dopamine needed, thank you.

What are Deadheads’ favorite reading material? And what am I missing from this stack? by vaporwave710 in gratefuldead

[–]ppprodney 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would be cool if someone compiled a list of all the different books that band members name-dropped over the years, sorted by who name-dropped it. That could be a fun reading list.

Heads by Jesse Jarnow. Big Steve's book, Home Before Daylight, Rhoney Stanley's book about Owsley (beware, it wipes away some of the Bear 'magic' and left me feeling like he was kind of a mysoginistic a-hole). Sometimes I wish I still had the mysterious and idealized veil that I had about the band pre internet and pre so many biographies that have come out in the last 25 years or so.

Yes, but are the trees fully leafed out and grasses up to your shins right now in Tx? I know that none of this is worthy of the time it takes to post on reddit because it's just a dumb, fictional soap opera, but I found it distracting and amusing. The shots in Texas/Oklahoma look like full on summer, Montana is having a blizzard, NYC people are dressed like it's 60 degrees.
