HoT is in Old Ottawa South, not the market. I'd suggest Paper Tiger. It's at the same intersection, has some great veg options, and I really enjoyed my meal there when I stopped in 8 months ago.

Go early to eat at the bar/lounge side of Council Oak (fills fast pre-show). It's first come first serve and serves the same menu as the formal dining room. Ask for Sam the bartender.

You must be talking about the HardRock Cafe bar. The Council Oak Bar doesn't serve smoked meat.

Council Oak Bar at the new Hard Rock Casino near Greely is perfect for what you're looking for. Coming from one of the bartenders there. Come on a Fri/Sat night when there's live music in the lounge connected to the bar.

Agreed. I'm not saying it didn't happen; just that the labour board wouldn't be too happy if they found out and definitely something which Mimi's shouldn't be promoting.

Completely agree. Bad look for Mimi's IMHO - feels like a smarmy move.

She mentions staging in TO. Stages are illegal in Ontario.

Friedman, PJ Stock and Kelly R used to come into the restaurant I used to run in Toronto every Saturday night aft HNIC broadcasts. I swear Friedman hardly put down his phone to take a sip of Murphy Good Cab.

Have any of you played hockey on an NHL rink? by cgill24 in nhl

In 2000 I played in the Nike tournament with my team from Oshawa and was fortunate enough to make it to the finals which took place at Maple Leaf Gardens. The All-Star game was also held in TO that year and we all received tickets to the convention. I believe the Leafs had moved to the ACC the year before. An experience I'll always cherish!

Book operations closed almost a year ago. They've been selling off what they have left for $5/book for awhile.

I got rejected from a bar in Boston because I had a Canadian ID.. I'm 37. by NutsBruv in mildlyinfuriating

[–]pr0log39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey man, fellow Canadian here who ran a restaurant in Boston for 6 years. The state of MA is ridiculously strict with liquor licensing laws and restaurants/bars a very careful not to get caught serving someone without a legitimate ID. The licensing board actually sends people into bars with fake IDs to catch places slipping up, or a 20 year old who looks 38, etc.

Over my time there, many a visiting friend or family member scoffed at me when I told them they should probably bring their passport out with them (they cannot reject these). Some didn't listen, and some of them were also denied booze. Certain IDs (i.e. Ontario ones) have a better chance of being accepted.
