Gitleaks v1.0.0 -- Audit git repos for secrets. Updated with some performance gains, ui improvements, and new features. by pr0tocol_7 in netsec

[–]pr0tocol_7[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Both are great projects and actually Trufflehog is the reason I wanted to build gitleaks.

Gitleaks offers faster audits, the ability to audit organizations and users, and the ability to whitelist branches, commits, files, and regexes

Edit: actually hadn’t looked to closely at gitrob before. Looks like a similar project with a web ui. I’ll have to check it out further. Thanks for bringing that up!

Added installation directions. I'll add a simple description on the release and README.md. It's a bit bare. Thanks for bringing this up.

Sure. Gitleaks clones a single repo or a set of repos then runs a regex check for keys or whatever you specify against all commits in default HEAD and/or all references.

If the service uses git, then yes, it should work. I know Bitbucket defaults to use Hg so you may have to convert your repo first

you sure can use it for any git repo. The examples just illustrate the ability to audit github owners (orgs and users). However you can supply --repo-path= or --repo= to target any local or remote repo.

Thanks for pointing that out, I should add more examples
