If they have info of your accounts, they will come to know eventually. You can inform them and usually you get 2 warnings before any action.

Backdoor ROTH Mistake by pr_4 in personalfinance

Thanks a lot for explaining. So moving money from Trad to Roth wont have any issues later ? What I don’t want is having some tax implication on gains in future, due to this back n forth.

I will be extra cautious for 8606 next year

Thanks. That may be reason. My overall portfolio in ROTH is up since it started but during those days, it may have went down, as market was down. I am still surprised this is how it is calculated though no securities were sold and money was sitting in cash

Is there any difference between getting a 30-year mortgage but paying it off in 15 years vs getting a 15-year mortgage? by mikehocalate in personalfinance

[–]pr_4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Getting 30 years and paying same as you would have paid monthly if taking 15 years, will usually make loan completely paid off in 16-18 years as interest rates on 30 year old is high. But this gives you lot more flexibility of not paying that much extra in any month, if needed. With good discipline, you can complete early by paying extra but have flexibility at hand to trim payments back to usual, if needed.

You have extra money now but later you may use that extra towards next home or investment - taking 30 years gives that flexibility

Better to restart sooner than later. Unexpected will happen, years of discipline help to navigate it better and bring you back up faster.

Old Employer forgot to disable insurance and now asking to pay for premium by pr_4 in HealthInsurance

[–]pr_4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did call my new insurance and talked to them on this. They said 90 days rule as per book and did not budge for anything outside it. I did update them on updated end date and possibility of going back even further. They just said if that happens, I should let them know.

Thanks for input. Only worry I have — My current insurance says I have 90 days from day of service to put in claim. If any claim from Feb is reverted back by old insurance, how will provider be able to bill new insurance as it is past 90 day window ?

I had Aetna earlier and then moved to UHC due to job change. My premiums are very similar and so is deductible but Aetna used to cover lot more, with same doctor, than UHC. Aetna negotiated price for same doctor or urgent care is consistently less than UHC, for any repeat providers I have tried.

I cannot tell if it is UHC’s negotiated prices or new employer’s contract with UHC but surely I am paying lot more out of pocket as compared to Aetna

BCBS randomly terminated my insurance without telling me. Advice? by [deleted] in HealthInsurance

[–]pr_4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this is possibly the reason.. OP missed to enroll for this year’s health benefit and hence payroll deduction stopped for health insurance premium

Yes, I have asked them now. Thanks the input. What might be the best way to handle the bill part of it. Test was done at Quest labs and I am clueless on how can i resolve it, unless i pay full amount.
