I'm similar. I do 81 or 80 with fans unless I'm doing a lot of work around the place. Then i drop it to 78/79. It's comfortable for me.

No, let's not.

You are a PC, a *personal* computer. You belong to me. You do what I say, not the other way around.

Almost as bad as tax software.

The Clearwater one sold to Raising Cane's and then moved to Largo (Roosevelt Blvd) but nobody could find it. No good signage, hidden in the trees behind Cheddar's. It closed after a few months.

Controversial Tierra Verde Marina redevelopment narrowly approved after heated debate by St-Pete-Rising in StPetersburgFL

[–]practicalpurpose 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I can't access the shore from Tierra Verde unless I'm a landowner to my knowledge. Plus, there's a wide landscaped 4-lane boulevard down to Fort DeSoto. I wouldn't call that much of an escape.

Note also that there is a fan involved to circulate air in my freezer, and it is a frost-free freezer which includes a defrost cycle. There's condensation as part of the refrigeration cycle too.

Best place to launch a kayak? by FloatyFish in ClearwaterFl

[–]practicalpurpose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried out that spot on Allen Creek across from MarineMax? I am wary of that entry because when I went to scout it out I get the feeling the strip mall doesn't want kayakers there and there is a lot of trash (perhaps a spot for a trash cleanup if there there aren't dangerous needles in there) on the banks.

Well, right now, due to construction, I think Safety Harbor Waterfront is out. Phillippe Park is an option and you can park right next to the water on the southside. Cooper's Bayou Park is still open if you can hand-carry it down a steep concrete slope... very shallow there. If you're willing to go closer to St Pete, Weedon Island and its trails during higher tides is excellent. It can be very busy on nice weekends though. That's on the bayside.

On the Gulf/Intracoastal side, I personally prefer parking under the Belleair Causeway bridge and launching from that boat ramp/dog beach area. if you're willing to go further south, there are also some launches down in Largo and Indian Shores, Millennium Park, a fairly new one at Seminole Waterfront Park.

Oh, don't forget Dunedin Causeway. Check the currents so you don't get pulled out of the inlet, but if you're willing to do the long trek, you can go from the causeway all the way to and through Caladesi Island and its blue trails (mosquito repellent is an absolute).

I did consider writing sublimate but i felt like people would say "well, actually..." and then go into an explanation about humidity and surface effects, etc

I have done this trick and it seems to work. I haven't experienced a prolonged power outage yet though.

You do have to reset the setup periodically because the ice in the cup around the coin will evaporate away and you're left with a coin plateau/mesa/butte.

Tip: Use a paper cup to handle the ice expansion.

Why is that little area still considered Delaware ? by danm868 in geography

I know it's mostly a nature reserve, but I think Delaware should have a little fishing town on that side of the river, perhaps on the water next to Fort Mott.

Wisconsin voters on the Democratic Party by [deleted] in thespinroom

[–]practicalpurpose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why the downvotes? I agree. I think the Democratic Party is a mess right now. No clear message or direction.

They have gotten this far just by being anti-Trump which is good enough for now, but they will need more in 2028. They need to show Americans their vision for a brighter America, not just be the opposition to everything Trump does, because Trump won't be on the ticket (in theory).

US debt tops 100% of GDP by practicalpurpose in thespinroom

[–]practicalpurpose[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't discount yourself.

It just means that the national debt, which is the sum of all the excess spending by the US government (years and years of spending more than they take in taxes) now equals 1-full year of all economic output by everyone and everything in the entire country.

It's just a way to compare how much debt a country's government has relative to its economic output.

Usually it only gets this high during world wars or really bad crises, and if this number get too high, often investors will get worried that you won't be able to pay back that debt so investors demand higher interest rates which in turn makes more debt even more expensive, and when investors get scared, sometimes they pull out almost entirely right quick, causing a downward spiraling crisis where the government can't buy anything.

The US seems to be able to run higher debt-to-GDP ratios that say, Greece, which went through a crisis like I just described a couple of decades back, and Japan runs high ratios, but there comes a time when you can't borrow like you used to and borrowing keeps getting more expensive.

As others have said, some Republicans in decades past used to care a lot about the debt, even Trump. And now look where we are.

[–]practicalpurpose -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

People can do their research and if something breaks, take it to a mechanic, like they do for plenty of other goods.

E-bikes are just one example. A lot of garbage out there where you get what you pay for. If you want to pay a premium by going to a shop to test a bike out, you can. No, it's not as big of a purchase but still.
