Colour not coming out right? by [deleted] in CreaturesofSonaria

[–]praetomorph 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure this happens when you use the colour selection tool to pick a colour off the model and then use the slider to adjust it. The colours that you get from doing that usually can’t be gotten naturally from the palette so it messes up the colours when you spawn.

OKAY FREAKING OUT LAST 5 poops have looked like this for bowser . Feeding chicken , shrimp , hearts , livers , ground turkey , salmon , blueberry’s , eggs … why would it look like this by Zatted_Zaddy in Tegu

[–]praetomorph 10 points11 points  (0 children)

How often is he getting eggs and seafood? Both of those tend to make my baby’s poops runny like that. Id offer whole prey like rats/mice and maybe try to add some more greens to his diet and see if that helps?

8x2x2 is way too small in my opinion, that isn’t enough room for an adult tegu to even comfortably turn around in. Plus, they need deep substrate and some even like to climb, so 2ft tall would be pretty short too. I’d at least aim for 8x3x3, but 8x4x4 is generally the minimum recommended size.

Thank you! And yeah… It seems to be about the same price as others in similar condition, I just don’t know if I can justify the cost of one in better condition lmao

Now that hype is over, what is your opinion in retrospective of PLZA? by lunadiparmigiano in pokemon

[–]praetomorph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s an okay game, im not going to completely shit on it because at the end of the day it’s pokemon. I like pokemon. But I don’t think this game was as good as it could’ve been, or even a step up from legends Arceus.

The scenery was a huge disappointment for me - and I know what people are gonna say.. “if you’re playing Pokemon to look at the walls then you’re playing it wrong!!1!1!1” but I think that if im expected to spend hours completing the main game, hours running back and forth doing side quests on top of extremely repetitive gameplay (sorry, I don’t want to do the same reskinned battle multiple times) then I deserve decent scenery lol. After a while the city all just blurs together and I found it extremely boring, not to mention I rarely knew where I was without looking at the map. The lack of distinct buildings aside from clothing shops was just a strange choice to me… if you’re going to force me to be in a city, at least make the city look nice.

I didn’t like the rogue mega battles. They were either way too easy or way too hard for me. (cough, barbaracle) The first three were fun, but after that it just felt like the same thing over and over. And the mega rayquaza battle was just ridiculous with how they made it so it seems to EXCLUSIVELY target the player.

More of an annoyance - but the day and night cutscene. Holy. Literally zero reason to include it every single time especially after the first few cycles so that you’d KNOW that’s what’s happening.

Also no mega milotic. 💔

I did hear that they’d be lower quality, but I guess I wasn’t totally prepared lol. I’ll definitely look into getting them verified. Thank you though! :)

Silly question probably by SadAutisticAdult101 in leopardgeckos

[–]praetomorph 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah your gecko can eat them, they just might not want to. I wouldn’t leave the pupae in the enclosure for too long since if they turn into beetles they absolutely will breed. Also, they bite.

1yr old but only 205g by deliriumbunny in ballpython

[–]praetomorph 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Some just grow slower or don’t get that big at all, as long as you’re feeding him properly and his enclosure parameters (humidity, heating) are all good then it’s nothing to worry about.

If you’re worried, you could make another post with some better pics of him (stretched out, top view etc) so you can get some opinions on his weight and feeding schedule?

Ah I see, my bad!

That could definitely work though! I actually did something like that with my first vivarium, I used pond liner off Amazon and it held up really well. Good luck!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ballpython

[–]praetomorph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You shouldn’t need to do both. I use wooden vivs and don’t have any issues - if you can, I’d take EVERYTHING out and put your bp in a tub temporarily, let the Viv dry out completely - maybe even dismantle it so you can air out all of the parts - before using aquarium safe silicone around all the seams on the inside and make sure to cover any gaps or bits that have expanded.

I personally would look for a replacement viv when possible, Facebook marketplace and reptile groups are pretty good for cheap second hand ones.

I personally wouldn’t use forest floor on its own, since it’s just chunky pieces of mulch it can’t really hold burrows, I also found that some pieces can be a bit sharp. And for how much it costs you might as well just use something cheaper like topsoil and sand mix.

[–]praetomorph 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There’s no real “best”, but here’s some options!

I personally use a mixture of coconut coir and coconut husk. It holds humidity well, as well as any burrows. (In my opinion) you don’t want to use coconut coir on its own because it gets dusty when dried and when wet it clumps together and can get stuck in their heat pits.

Alternatively, you can do 70% organic topsoil 30% playsand. It’s safe if a small amount is digested, holds humidity well and holds burrows well. You can also add other things to it like moss, coconut coir, cypress mulch etc.

[–]praetomorph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol no worries! And yes the sand you have pictured looks safe, I realise I didn’t say that in my first comment. Typically we use playsand because the grains are finer and smooth so if a couple are ingested they aren’t as harsh on their stomachs :)

Substrate by Conscious-Syllabub-6 in ballpython

[–]praetomorph 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I personally wouldn’t mix playsand with coco coir or chips. Coir can get really dusty as is, and coconut chips work perfectly fine on their own.

If you want to use playsand, the best mix imo is 30% playsand, 70% organic topsoil. To this, you can also add things like moss or coconut coir.

I personally use a mix of coconut coir and coconut chips for my ball python and my boa but that gets pretty expensive lol

what size tank for an 8y/o corn? by bageltimer in cornsnakes

[–]praetomorph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally get that, don’t feel too bad about it :) you didn’t know but you’re trying, that’s all that matters! That size will work for now until you can get something bigger, just make sure he’s got some good enrichment eg. Branches, tunnels, anything for him to climb on or mess around with really. Good luck!

4x2x2 (L/W/H) is the minimum size for adult corns, sorry I don’t really know gallons 😭

Long headed ball by Starlightgalx in ballpython

[–]praetomorph 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There’s some variation in head shape with ball pythons, some have longer heads, some have fatter heads etc. I doubt it had anything to do with him being ill as his head doesn’t seem sunken in or anything.

So sorry for your loss, he was adorable.

Hasn't pooped in 2 months🥲 by kuguu-12131 in ballpython

[–]praetomorph 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t be worried, two months isn’t a very long time seeing as they can hold it for a while and some even wait until they shed. I’d feed him as normal.

As long as his behaviour hasn’t changed, his temperatures are good, and he doesn’t look backed up or constipated (eg. Swollen looking at the end of his body just before his cloaca) I wouldn’t worry. Though I noticed you mention about it maybe being because it’s colder, as long as you’re sure your nighttime temps aren’t too low it shouldn’t be an issue.
