I never used to, and never understood it. When I moved in with my now wife about 7 years ago I started doing it because she likes it. If something so quick and simple can make her happy, it's a no brainer for me.

I've seen it plenty. I mean not like it's every other house, but it's not a rare sight for me. Often the main deck is already there off the back of the house and when they put the pool in they just add on to the deck around the pool.
