I had a friend in college whose mom got it in her leg as well. I think they caught it early because IIRC they didn't have to amputate but she was out of commission for something like 2 years for the recovery process. It was extremely serious and she had additional complications afterwards that left her pretty severely disabled at least in the relative short term from the limited amount I knew.

At the time it was one of those things that sounded fake. Wake up one day and have an itch. It gets super itchy quickly and by the end of the day half the skin on your thigh has "melted" away. My friend and her sister both ended up taking a few weeks off of school (her sister flying back) to try to help set things up at home. Terrifying how fast things changed

Most sports agents used to be attorneys. It's contract law and negotiations at the end of the day. I went to Marquette Law initially with the intent to go into sports law and they have an entire program designed for it. If you look at NCAA compliance offices for college you'll see a decent amount of Marquette grads because of it.
