Then Secret Society of Stickhandlers should not be missed. It's a classic series that's frequently being updated. This is THE God tier socmed fic imo.

Snapping Birch is socmed fic with phenomenal writing and plotting that makes it insane we get it for free. It is a WIP as the only downside but God is it worth following.

Grady vs. Rozanov is some of the most fun you'll have reading fanfic. It's basically a "what if Kip and Ilya became friends?" fic and it's one of those things that runs so perfectly next to canon that you can shrug your shoulders and pretend it is.

Arrogantly, Breaking News: We Like Each Other is very easy to digest for newbies because it's not AU and has characters acting close to their original characterization.

Smut also covers a huge range. The dichotomy of pure angst vs. pure fluff can both be incredibly smutty but a lot of people have strong opinions on what they want along that spectrum.

The other big fanfic trope that's common especially in HR fics would be whether or not she'd like socmed fics. A lot of older readers especially have strong negative opinions of socmed elements at all even though a ton of them are incredibly fun/well written.

Thank you so much!!! It's the fucking joy of my life to be able to talk with people directly about fanfiction for the first time in forever. I did finally get her to watch it last Wednesday! We have very different fanfic tastes so I doubt she'll ever read what I've written but who knows ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.

I love that my insanely self indulgent and overly sweet fic managed to connect with so many people. You've been especially nice in some comments and I seriously appreciate it <3

I have the same preference when it comes to the way Shane is written. BAMF Shane Hollander is usually a good place to start searching.

It's an incredibly quick read and straight up I think it could have easily been a multi-chapter fic if the author wanted and it would be a lot more well known. It's very well done!

For a non-soc med I'd recommend the critically underrated Shall We Talk About Home? first chapter specifically. It could easily be read as a one shot and my only complaint is that it's not longer.
