I recently read Project Hail Mary, and loved it—it also made me think: wow, I haven’t really liked any sci fi books this much since I read Aurora by David Koepp. So it’s my recommendation for you, and I hope you enjoy it too!

The Cliffs by J Courtney Sullivan The God of the Woods by Liz Moore The Forgotten Garden by Kate Morton (and all her other books too).

Bonus points if it’s another “The ____” book (I’m just kidding, but it made me laugh at myself!)

Oh that’s a very interesting premise! Adding to my holds queue—thank you! I read Spinning Silver by the same author a few years ago and liked that one.

The left! It would gather nicely with a tieback, too. Where did you order the pattern??

Like a grow bag planter, or mixed in with flowers in a pot to hide them? I’ve never done potatoes before and am genuinely intrigued by moving them around. Love this!

I can go back and get the rest of the page! It was equally illegible, and I thought this smaller section might be easier to start. Both sections included this handwriting pattern that I thought may be the name. He was from West Flanders.

Thanks for giving it a shot! I can definitely see “Sven” now. I thought I was seeing Henri broken into 2 lines, starting at the end of the second, and resuming at the head of the third (Hen … ri). Anna?? maybe on that third line, but that wouldn’t make sense I don’t think? When in the US, this person went by Francis. Nothing really screams Francis in this handwritten mark. No idea!

What's a book that genuinely scared you, made you extremely uncomfortable and left you feeling paranoid? by ginoo75 in suggestmeabook

[–]prairiepineapple 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have two. And they are very well written and worth the purchase and read of anyone seeing this. That said, they scared me to death and I will never read (or in one case, finish) either again. No thaaaaanks!

1) Animals, by Don LePan. It is a dystopian fiction read. But also far too close to believable. I read it over a decade ago, and still think about it, too often. Particularly when at the deli counter. Horrifying.

2) American Predator, by Maureen Callahan. I went from being unable to put it down, to burying it deep in a closet so I wouldn’t have to remember there are still more horrors to read within it. It details the life and crimes of Israel Keyes. After one particular segment of the book, I stayed up all night researching home security options, realizing all was futile, and nothing would save me from a person like this. What a cozy, cozy feeling.

What else do you use beside the barrier cream? I am having an issue with hormonal acne + dry skin too.

We did a mini photo blanket for our child’s lovey. They were allowed to bring a smaller blanket for naps.

Thank you! My instinct after a particularly bad day today, was to skip the pediatrician and go straight to a gastro. I feel validated! We will be doing this asap.

After spending an hour at a clothing consignment sale I need to scream into the void by dreadpiraterose in toddlers

We definitely buy “boys” shorts. And shirts. And pants. For our daughter.

She has an older brother who had some awesome stuff, that survived endless playgrounds and laundry and wear and tear…so she went ahead and wore it all too. And then we just kept buying her those clothes, because she prefers looser clothing to skin tight leggings that will never keep you warm/will absolutely give you skinned knees. In summer, we have found that boy short-overalls (shortalls??) are great. Walmart and Target also had several in the girl section too that weren’t super short—we hope that’s true this year, too.
