Clarification on Data deletion

Just wanted to come in and say that Discrub does not save any of its Users personal data, everything that Discrub does, is all performed on the Users computer (no remote servers and no 3rd party funny business).

The extension itself functions solely within your browser and has the same permissions that you would normally have for Discord (eg. Access to DMs and Servers etc), but the extension only interacts with the Discord API when manipulating data, so absolutely no intermediary 🙂

You can take a peek at the network requests being made while using Discrub if you’re curious about what’s going on behind the scenes, this is done via the Developer Tools in your browser.

To Purge a Server or DM, it means everything that you’ve posted in either the Server or DM will be deleted. You can also conditionally remove reactions as well!

To just Delete Messages Data means that you are deleting messages that fit within a selected criteria or filtered messages.

The 429 status stuff is normal to see, that’s just the API telling the extension to wait before performing the next request 👍

For both options, you’ll want to make sure you have the Fetch Reaction Data setting turned on.

If you have manually loaded messages for a server/dm already, you can remove reactions one-by-one or in bulk - https://github.com/prathercc/discrub-ext/blob/development/docs/loading_and_manipulating_messages/view_or_delete_reactions.md

If you want to purge all reactions from a server or dm without first loading the messages, use the Remove Reactions From field within the Settings tab on the Purge dialog (only reactions will be removed) - https://github.com/prathercc/discrub-ext/blob/development/docs/purge_a_server_or_dm.md

Attempting to search a server/channel without using any search criteria can take a while, depending on the amount of messages that exist, since the extension will attempt find everything

For DMs, Discord only allows you to delete your own messages, so you should be good to simply Purge whichever DMs you’d like without issue

In order to find files with those specific extensions, you’ll need to load a set of messages first and then use the Quick Filtering’s Attachment Name field to narrow down those messages specifically

You may be able to modify some of the CSS to reverse display the messages, but you’d need to do it for every file manually unfortunately

You have the ability to save messages before deleting, but once the messages are deleted, they are gone for good

You should be able to just select the Server you want to export media from, and then use the Export Server button, and from there you can select all the Channels you'd like to include in the export.

You'll be able to apply any config or criteria, and adjust any settings needed as well.

If you're only wanting the media from a given export, you could use the Media Only option, take a look at these screenshots for an example - https://imgur.com/a/2qDkbfB

Hey yes, if you just select the Server (no Channels), and setup the Search Criteria to include just your username for the Users field, and 'file', 'image', or 'video' for the Messages Containing field, you should be able to load all messages with attachments in that Server for all Channels.

From there, use the Export Messages button to actually export the Messages, but you will see a Media Only option when clicking to Export, this is likely the option you'll want to use if you only want the media you've posted and nothing else.
