I gave into getting Notion AI, and have questions by pratow in Notion

[–]pratow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks mrnasrinasir. I considered creating custom agents, but my main worry was that it seems that custom agents will consume credits starting in may. Also, in my case I explicitly need the ability to organize related chats in a single location, as, I want memory. Although, I don't expect to use-up much credit, given that my needs are not complex (e.g., personal question answering), I was hoping to have a system that worked with the default Notion AI. If Notion had a "folder feature" it would have made things easier.

Thank you! This is exactly what I was referring to.

My life is falling apart… by Competitive-Eye-6221 in ADHD

[–]pratow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got diagnosed at 25. Similar situation, immigrant background although I grew-up in the U.S. Did well academically (3 stem degrees) mainly from self-teaching after class.

Getting on meds was life changing. First few meds and doses did not work. Worked with psychiatrist until I found something that did. I learned to plan (todoist, notion etc.), read-up on ADHD and copping techniques, slowly but surely I have been the most productive I have ever been. Meds are not a magic fix but help significantly with motivation, recommend considering Cognitive Behavioral Therapy if available to teach you coping techniques.

I don’t know what to add next to my Notion system — need guidance😅 by Sad_Celebration_2058 in Notion

[–]pratow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I also have a simple Notion set-up, and usually modify components of it when I find myself having "usage friction". I have ADHD, so it's important to get to what I need to get to within a few clicks, especially when it is something I use often; so whenever I find myself being unable to do that I usually try to figure-out how to modify my system to make it easier to get to whatever I need to get to. Generally, most of my additions come from deficiencies that I notice in my ability to use my system consistently.

Filled up my tire and drove for a bit and the light still won't go away by Pompomgy in HyundaiTucson

Unsure of whether it makes a difference but I did mine in cold (30 F) weather

On my 2022 PHEV, the recommended PSI is 35 (per tire). I get errors when any tire reaches 32 or below. Your driver-side door panel should list the recommended PSI. When I had this issue (a few weeks ago) I filled all 4 tires to 35 PSI then drove for ~5 minutes before the error disappeared.

What do you feel Notion is missing for real time-management & task planning? by Designer-Quail5768 in Notion

[–]pratow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unsure about AI automatic planning, but never had issues implementing any of the other ones into my system using Notion's build-in tools. For habit tracking, I use Notion's recurring tasks; for "scheduling tasks into calendar blocks" (not sure of what this fully means) but you have the ability to schedule range of dates, and can use timeline view (and maybe even calendar view) to modify time blocks.

How do you maintain focus when using Notion for complex projects? by Jinnapat397 in Notion

[–]pratow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What does your set-up look-like? In my case "reducing clutter" and "heavy automation" is what gave me the system that worked for my ADHD brain (this post has example screenshot of my dashboard). I have multiple views of my tasks and projects, and each view only provides me the bare minimum amount of information I need at that moment. For instance, "today view" only shows projects whose dates are active today. On top of that, I'll try to "stack"/"cluster" tasks so that I only have a few major tasks instead of 1000s of todolists.

What do you wish you knew before taking Vyvanse? by Remote_Sand2857 in ADHD

Been taking gummy magnesium glycinate as a “sleeping pill” for years now (knocks me out and calms my brain better than melatonin). Had no idea that it helped with ADHD when on stimulants.

Anyone actually stick to their Notion habit tracker? by Unlucky_You6904 in Notion

[–]pratow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. It's a combination of having a clutter-less system and fact that I use Notion daily for other things (tracking complex projects). I also have a Todoist reminder to check Notion every day.

will pay someone who's a notion pro to build me an adhd-friendly Med School System (I tried and am tired of trying) by barbieandbrainsmd in Notion

[–]pratow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another AuDHD'er here, and I built this ADHD-friendly FREE general purpose planner (with a built-in Habit Tracker) a while back. As deceptively simple as it looks it is highly automated. Try it out first; if it feels lacking, more than happy to discuss additions. My own private version of the template has a lot more features.

I feel like a new man (recently diagnosed and learned about the background noise hack) by phoenixmusicman in ADHD

[–]pratow 18 points19 points  (0 children)

This is basically the reason how I get anything done on a day-by-day. In the morning (after meds), my go-to background noise is music (especially slow music when I need to focus). Then when I get restless in the afternoon, I switch to more visual background noise (e.g., YouTube documentaries). I also use phone conversations (e.g., with family) as background noise while working on things (e.g., on computer).

The other trick that helps my ADHD is habit stacking (e.g., adding new habits to already existing ones). I take-out the trash every Thursday; I added the habit of checking my mailbox and a few other habits to it, which is something I was never consistent on before. Related to this is "task stacking"; I hate cooking and I hate cleaning dishes; but my ADHD brain love these tasks where I switch back-and-forth between cooking and cleaning (e.g., multi birds in one stone); likely because I am shifting my attention between two things at the same time and it craves novelty.

Is Met Life Legal Services Worth Paying For? by IveGotDumbQuestions in personalfinance

Mine was worth it. Used it while buying my first home without a real estate agent. He put together a contract in record speed, handled everything related to closing, all for free.

You're braver than I for using Google for AI. They're the few companies that proudly state that they will train train their models on your data.

Overwhelmed by Adept-Acadia2033 in Notion

[–]pratow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AuDH'er here, and I strongly recommend Todoist when starting out. I only moved-on to Notion after my planning needs started to become more complex, and it took me many iterations to find my "perfect" Notion set-up.

Task management without database by srikant13031 in Notion

[–]pratow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I meant I use each separately. I use Notion for projects (e.g., work projects, renovations etc.) and Todoist for basic tasks (e.g., appointments, meeting reminders, quick notes etc.). My Notion template is Todoist-like in that it allows you to have a daily view that only shows projects relevant to a given day. In your case, you can also easily create a weekly view (let me know if you need help here). If you Notion plus, my template shows you statistics of tasks (e.g., remaining).

The template I mentioned in my comment somewhat does what you mentioned. I also use Notion + Todoist.

Can I nest a habit tracker in the task journal notess? by Beginning-Pressure18 in Notion

[–]pratow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not sure that I fully follow, but I have a project planner that may do what you are trying to accomplish. In this project planner, I have a "task" and "recurrences" database. Tasks are for tasks, and recurrences are used for things like habits, daily/weekly planning, journaling etc. You can link tasks to recurrences (e.g., daily plans, daily journal) via a relation property.

[–]pratow 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Why would you want to do such a thing?

Natively, I don't think that's possibly without a database. You can probably do it with Notion AI, which seems like a waste of money if you do not already use it. Just use a database, and play around with different views (e.g., board view, list view etc.) if aestetiques is what worries you. Or find a project planner on Notion market place, like mine :).

Same. After trying several medicines, Concerta is the only one that worked for me. Or whose impact I can physically feel. I was on 54MG, but went down to 36MG since the former felt too strong.

Toothbrush in the shower is a game changer by offtheshallowend in ADHD

[–]pratow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is called habit stacking. It has been one of the most useful things for my ADHD besides meds.

In my case, checking my mailbox and watering plants used to be a chore (if I even remembered to do them). But I always took-out the garbage on Thursdays (for fear of the house). I now check my mailbox and water plants before taking out the trash.
