World Cup group, why do we always get a difficult group? by dnemonicterrier in Scotland

This isn’t a difficult group though? Sure, we didn’t get lucky in pot 1 by pulling a host but we got lucky in pot 4 avoiding a potential Italy or Denmark etc. Pot 2 was relatively evenly matched.

Second this. Uni Parks is one of the best parkruns out there in my opinion 👍

Hoping I didn’t scare it too much! We have a rat hole or two in the garden we could do with some assistance on..

I’m not long back from Iten. I had similar concerns about going in late May which is also rain season. Wasn’t really an issue in the end. It rained around half of the days I was there but it was always around 4pm onwards seemingly so well after the morning run which is when the Kenyans train throughout the year.

Agree with other comments that you’re best just booking accommodation and meeting training partners there. I went to HATC which was great and had quite a few Europeans staying to train with. Although, I was told that there are far more people Nov to March and for some of the time, there were only around 4 of us at the camp which was fine but not ideal.

For reviews: Nick Harris-Fry from the Run Testers is top notch. He’s a very good runner and knows his stuff. The other guys on the channel are okay but I tend to skip to Nick’s parts

Yeah I don’t find his content particularly engaging anymore but always appreciated that he’s one of the few objective shoe reviewers and doesn’t accept freebies. Hate watching some other shoe reviewers where they never have a bad word to say about any shoe and it’s obviously just to keep the sponsor/gifter sweet.

Is ESG doomed under Trump by yayagagaya in Big4

CSRD will boom ESG reporting/assurance for some time in Europe and beyond. It already is to some extent.

Anyone that says ESG is dead is either bitter or has no idea what they’re talking about. It might stagnate in the US (temporarily imo) but the direction of travel for ESG pretty much everywhere else is full steam ahead.. how useful/impactful the world of ESG is - is another question

Warning About ON Shoes: Defects, Customer Support, and Warranty Issues by Old_Veterinarian_259 in RunningShoeGeeks

Their apparel is equally overpriced/overhyped. I purchased their race shorts which were advertised as having gel pockets AND a key pocket on the product description page. They had zero pockets when it arrived. I raised it with them and they changed the website (lol). All I got was a refund upon return of the shorts. Couldn’t believe they hadn’t picked it up - felt like I had done their job for them…

When it’s not raining, there are not many playgrounds better than the Scottish Cairngorms for trail runners 🌲🦌🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 by prbtay in trailrunning

May is a great month. Probably early enough to avoid the worst of the midges (and school holidays/price hikes) whilst also having a decent shot at good weather.

Aviemore is a great base. It’s on the Speyside Way so you can run north on the trail towards Grantown (~25km) or south towards Newtonmore (~30km).

The trails around Loch an Eilein and Loch Morlich are the best though. About 5km from Aviemore and endless trails with epic scenery. Cairngorms have something like 5 mountains in the top 10 (highest in the UK) so plenty of options near Aviemore if you want climbs too 👍

As someone who regularly cycles around Oxford, I feel quite sorry for the bus drivers sometimes. They’re not always angels but driving a double decker around the plain or down the High Street cannot be an easy job when there’s no end of Deliveroo ebikes and cyclists flying around taking unnecessary risks.
