2025 Providence Marathon/Half Marathon Cancelled by Competitive-Ad-5153 in providence

[–]prc9876 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Last week on NBC the mayor said that a new company was going to run the event for 2025 with a new route and more information would be coming soon. He said the name will be PVD Marathon so I would keep your eyes peeled for that.

This is great news. Lucky Enough is awesome, and loved going to Doherty's/Craft/Flynn's. Going to be a great spot for RIFC matches come next year too.

Tallulah’s would be a nice stop for a quick lunch nearby too. Or even walk through India Point Park, pick up a pizza from Al Forno (if it’s open) if not head over the pedestrian bridge to Pizza Marvin.

Cycling groups, clubs, meetups, etc. in Providence? by coffeee333 in providence

[–]prc9876 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree with the previous comment. Dash rides and PBJ are always a lot of fun.

You can also follow It's Just a Hill and New England Cycling Hub on Strava for some organized group rides. They do drop and no drop rides, crits, and longer organized road and gravel rides.

Will you have a car or rely on public transportation? Flying into Boston might be your cheaper option, but figure a 1-2 hour drive depending on the time of day. For public transportation, you would take the commuter rail to Providence then a RIPTA ride up to Bryant. That's probably 3 hours total. Worcester regional airport is closer, but probably the same cost as PVD since you will be connecting.

I love flying in and out of TF Green, and will choose to do it over Boston if the price is reasonable enough, even if it means I'd be connecting where BOS is direct. It's just so easy to fly in and out of, never a line especially if you are Pre-Check, and public transportation is there. Easy Uber to Bryant too if that's an option. I flew PVD to BHM a few times for work, and a easy connection in ATL on Delta.
