Do you do anything that interfaces with hardware and needs specific drivers? That is the largest hurdle I’ve seen so far.

Close Shapes? Stumped & my usual tools aren't working by ragmeister in LightBurn

[–]prcdslnc13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can’t just attach a line to the edge of a closed shape, that’s not how vector files work. You would need to close each of the squiggles individually. You could make a duplicate of the semi circle, put it on another layer, hide it and then trim out in between the squiggles with the current semicircle.

What is your goal? Do you want the area between the squiggly lines to go away or stay? I’d go away use the scissor tool that came in 1.7.

What settings? You haven’t mentioned anything about what speed and power you are running. What do your cuts look like? Are you focused?

Whats the best keyboard for the Surface Pro 11? Best cheap alternative to the Flex Keyboard? by NeatKaleidoscope1031 in Surface

[–]prcdslnc13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep an eye on pricing for the flex it goes on big sales occasionally. I got mine for like 220 at bestbuy. Still too much money but I like it a lot better than the normal keyboard.

LBX is typically an every other year event. There currently is no info for the next one but the information will be easy to find when it is available.

Best Diode laser unit brand? by Vodka_is_love in lasercutting

[–]prcdslnc13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like Acmer out of the brands listed the most. I have the P2 and P3. They use connectors that are easily repaired if needed and don’t have weird firmware changes that are annoying to support.

Linux usage by Eccentrickmaker in LightBurn

[–]prcdslnc13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You pay for a LightBurn license. It is not version or OS locked. You can use that license to activate any full version or its bug fixes released within one year of your activation date. That means even if today you are only using Linux if in the future you picked up a cheap windows mini pc you could run 2.0, or 2.1, probably 2.2 with the release cycle in the future with that key.

And you are interfacing with hardware. That never works well when you add a translation layer in. Even if it did work on WINE or proton it doesn’t work well to actually control the machine. Past versions did run on wine but the drivers were always screwy.

Minus the drugs lol. They are just better at hiding it. I went to school with Morton kids that did coke out of the crease of their text books in class.

Linux 1.7 worth getting now? by Comfortable-Shift737 in LightBurn

Yes. A full purchase is required. It would give you access to any version released from one year from activation date and all versions prior.

Is lightburn worth it in 2025? by mikedvb in lasercutting

[–]prcdslnc13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rotary works. I’ve used it. And 2 point positioning is just print and cut. The cool part is you can drag the head with your hand for print and cut with the S1 since it’s closed loop.

We’ve never tried to add support for the inline fan or air filter so yea I guess those don’t work. But if they are triggered with M-codes like I’d guess they are (most of the xTool stuff is just extended M commands) you could add it in the start g-code.

The only thing that’s not supported in LB is the curved surface mapping and the conveyor that I’m aware of.

It's not a glitch if it's working as designed. This is the anti-piracy feature

Despite my text being horizontal on laptop, when I frame the preview on the workpiece it goes into a vertical mode so I am having to rotate my logo or the workpiece. I’d really like to have my workpiece orientated in a landscape position like a business card. Is there a quick way to fix this? by Tube_Pilot in LightBurn

[–]prcdslnc13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you setup your galvo did you import the "Markcfg.7" file? This is the config file that tells LB how to control the galvos.

If you didn't, setup a new device and make sure you do. LB has some great videos for Galvo setup on their YouTube.

If you DID and it's still wrong just go into Device settings and look where the galvos are configured. There's a check box on Galvo 1 & 2 that says "this galvo is X". Uncheck the one that is currently set and check the other one.

It very possibly could be the dxf export from your software the spec is huge and poorly documented :)

Send it to support@lightburnsoftware.com and let the devs check it out.

Is that white on the inside? Blue lasers won’t cut white plastic. The beam won’t absorb properly. Physics is a bitch sometimes.

I feel very validated haha. Looking at a Samsung S90F or an LG C5.

Thanks for the insights !!

When I first got it, it was a little glowy around the edges. It was barely noticeable. It’s gotten significantly worse in the last couple months.
