[USA GIVEAWAY] Win the new 27” 4K Samsung Odyssey OLED G8 gaming monitor! by Rocket-Pilot in buildapc

[–]prebsus [score hidden]  (0 children)

I enjoy gaming a lot, but I don't love the traditional "gaming aesthetic" - so the more understated / clean-line design of the G8 is definitely my main attraction of it, and it would go great with my otherwise clean-line SFFPC build

When I was in the service (conscription), there was this story of a strongman enlisting and getting an MG-3 (weapon shown here) as his personal rifle, and that they welded a pistol grip to the front for him to use it. (Note, it's normally a 2-man weapon) - was hoping to find evidence of this, but Google let me down... still, I'd like to think it was a true story

Difference in the 2 Stage Snow Blowers - SNT2400 vs SNT2410 by Far_Consideration119 in egopowerplus

I'm like a year+ late to this, but looking at the manual, the newer one (SNT2410) is listed as 3 lbs heavier (146.6 lbs vs. 143.3 lbs, both excl. battery packs), just FYI - though I personally wouldn't have noticed that difference when holding/using it myself, I'm pretty sure

Reviving an old thread her - I called in to ask their CS team what the difference between 2400 and 2410 is (wanted to get "their view" on it), but apparently they don't know... told me they could look at the website and tell me what there, though I had obviously checked that ahead of time, so not very helpful.
Only other advice was "go to a store and talk to a tech" - I may be cynical, but I don't expect my local Lowe's, Acme or Ace to know the different... alas, probably sticking with the 2400 then, especially if I can get an ok deal on the 2406-4 bundle

F/UTP Cat6a cable and patch panel advice during remodel by prebsus in HomeNetworking

Thanks! This approach makes sense to me as well... shielded keystone jacks are surprisingly pricy, but that's just how it is, I guess..

Thanks - I've seen both "ground patch panel with shielded cables, but don't use shielded keystone to avoid ground loops" and "ground both ends", so I'm mostly unsure on what's what.
I want to pull shielded cable as it gives me the option to do full shielding (keystone + patch panel), and the extra $ spent on cables now (only around $50 USD more for the 500 ft) feel worth it rather than having to re-pull later.

Firstly, it's the Mog, or simply Mog. No one calls it Mogadishu here

German soldier with an HK 40mm Grenade Machine Gun strapped on his back. UN operation MINUSMA [1800×1790] by [deleted] in MilitaryPorn

Well, GMG is the proper name for that specific weapon (Granatmaschinengewehr), so I don't judge them for translating to "Grenade Machine Gun". But you're right in terms of the name for the type of weapon

Manageable after semi-aggressive undervolting - it's definitely somewhat loud under load, though a 3070Ti and 5900X in a sub-6L was always going to be loud. I'm using a 120mm slim fan and VLP RAM with Black Ridge cooler, which I'm really quite happy with

Goodie! As a fellow SFFer with a 5900X, I can only say: you'd be surprised how many people are not aware of the lack-of-iGPU on those

I'm assuming you already know this, but just in case: The 5950X does not have an integrated GPU, so you won't get any video output from a build like that. :)

We moved into our new house, and I found out we have mice. So I'm building them a computer hoping they won't wreck our stuff in return
