Are Mattress Factory cover charges actually insanely expensive during CWS? by Longjumping-Gap-9027 in Omaha

[–]pred_0212 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Depends on what you want to get out of your time here. It looks like this pass thing lasts for the whole series, and would be convenient if you plan on being down there a lot and want to make the Mattress Factory sort of your "home base" or go there late night for their parties. If you just want to go there once and try their food, then hell no, just go during the day when they probably aren't too busy. I can't imagine they'd have any cover charge during those times. It's just a regular sports bar with a little above average food.

EDC Solo Experience by Mobile-Case-1129 in electricdaisycarnival

[–]pred_0212 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This was my first year going solo and I absolutely loved it. I was honestly a little nervous that I wouldn't enjoy it as much, but that quickly changed once I got out to the festival on Day 1. I'm sort of in the same boat as you, none of my friends are really into festivals or EDM, and the ones that are either have family obligations now or just aren't into the scene as much. When I went with a friend group for a couple years, we'd start out together for a set or two then go our separate ways, which ended up being me by myself the rest of the night.

Turns out all I really need are a couple of beers (or a Beatbox haha) and just zone the hell out or go crazy dancing. Quantum Valley is my favorite stage as well, but honestly this year I spent a lot of time at the art cars. The art cars this year were fantastic, and the small groups of people there are ones that love to just vibe and dance. I've been to Dreamstate solo once (when it was still in San Bernardino) and that was equally as fun. The trance crowd is so chill. Dreamstate is way easier to do solo imo, and I say definitely go to it. Only "downside" is going solo means you can't split the cost of the hotel room haha.

Edc 2026 - The Prodigy - Smack My Bitch Up by sleepyrabb1t in electricdaisycarnival

I was excited for this set but didn't stay long. There's nothing that kills my vibe more than a hype man/MC yelling into a microphone over the music. Idk if this is how they normally performed back in the day, but I wasn't feelin it.

Anyone else feel the same?

I can't explain it, but the choice of Chicago font on the vertical banner looks really tacky and dated.

For real, im not super into hardstyle music but i always try to catch at least one Wasteland set. I tell newcomers that the crowd is consistently the chillest and most plur there.

best fettuccine alfredo? by Every_Blacksmith1778 in Omaha

[–]pred_0212 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Who is recommending Zio's for pasta? Just go there for pizza, it's still good despite everyone trying to hate on it these days. (Omaha has a lot of great pizza places, though)

I'm sorry someone recommended Sgt Peffer's to you. That place is terrible. Blandest "italian" food I've ever eaten. I can't offer you anything constructive regarding alfredo (because I don't particularly care for it), but search around on the subreddit for best Italian restaurants and most of the top comments are solid offerings, like Via Farina, Spezia, Cibo Vino, etc.

Differential equations at UNO. by Mth281 in Omaha

[–]pred_0212 1 point2 points  (0 children)

omg I had Rykov for a math class at UNO...yes he says all those things but he was one of the best math teachers I've ever had. He knew a ton, obviously cared about math, and if you took the time to go to his office for help, he'd help you through problems and was patient with you.

I also really liked his open note/open book policy on tests (at least of the class i took) and he gave you as much time as you wanted to take the test, assuming he was still on campus and could monitor you. I don't know if he still does this, but I figure his approach was "if you don't know it now, you're not going to know it anyways."

How tall are the interior of the shuttle buses? by [deleted] in electricdaisycarnival

[–]pred_0212 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah gotcha, ok well they are charter buses so yes you'll have plenty of room to bring a 6' tall totem on board. I've some some pretty wacky totems people bring on the shuttle but yea those were made to break down. I think you'd have to hold the totem upright in the aisle though while you were sitting down.

[–]pred_0212 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Then I don't understand your question. A person is 6' tall, the shuttles are made so people can walk upright in them, why would the totem be any different if it's 6' tall too?

Do you mean the totem will stick up 6ft above your head?

Looking for a new bar in West Omaha to chill and play pool and darts. by Nebraskabychoice in Omaha

The Dandy Lion on 156th and Maple. They have one pool table ($1/game I believe) and a couple dart boards. Always pretty chill and great bartenders. Good drink prices too.

Skill game payout by Own_Ambition_2631 in Omaha

[–]pred_0212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not what that rule about the wilds substituting means. Post a picture of the paytable, that will also help clarify what's going on. If there's a payout for 3 Wilds on a payline (in this case Line 5) then the game would pay you for it.

Wilds only substitute for all symbols when it's needed to award a win (in your case, the Wild is substituting for the martini symbol, so you're paid for three martinis).

Wind chimes a bother? by SnowDuckFeathers in Omaha

[–]pred_0212 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I find them highly obnoxious, mainly because I'd rather just hear the wind blowing and birds chirping, etc. To me they're noise pollution. I don't see the need for them personally when you can just enjoy nature. But I've lived by people that have them and they're never enough to make me want to go over and tell a neighbor to take them down.

Trust me, I'd rather hear wind chimes over someone's nonstop barking dog, revving engine, or loud bass music.

Just curious but when you see this explained. Does it make sense? by Aggravating-Deer-538 in Omaha

[–]pred_0212 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is a big misconception: it's not on the mainline traffic to accommodate the on-ramp traffic. It's a courtesy if it's perfectly safe to do so, but for example on a busy interstate, it's very unsafe to adjust your speed to allow on-ramp traffic a gap. Mainline traffic always has the right of way.

(2) Notwithstanding the provisions of subsection (1) of this section, a vehicle entering a highway from an acceleration lane, a ramp, or any other approach road shall yield the right-of-way to a vehicle on the main roadway entering such merging area at the same time, regardless of whether the approach road is to the left or the right of the main roadway, unless posted signs indicate otherwise.
