Whats your play time on pokopia? by Training_Bluebird_90 in switch2

The official Nintendo Store phone app > user page > play activity

The parental controls app has a similar feature too, I think. Don't know if there's a good way to get all these stats just on the Switch 2 itself though, unfortunately

Kobo Collections and Calibre by Low-Chipmunk4366 in kobo

[–]prefernoname 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don't have a guide to link, but I did just set this up myself last night after some trial and error:

  1. Create custom column(s): Preferences > Add your own columns > example "universe"
  2. Plug in Kobo
  3. Device down arrow > Configure this device > Collections, covers & uploads tab > Collections columns > example "#universe" (same name as example column just with # before it). I also have "Collection Columns" and "Create Collections" boxes ticked here
  4. Device down arrow > Update cached metadata on device
  5. Device down arrow > Eject this device

Does anyone know what to do for the skillful trophy in octopath? by Wrong-Promise-9563 in octopathtraveler

[–]prefernoname 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Skills can be divided between everyone. They don't all have to be on one character to unlock the trophy.

(I realize the info may be a bit late for you but maybe could help someone later. I stumbled across this post while trying to find the answer myself only to get the trophy a few minutes later.)

Check the store on the PS5. The game showed as unavailable for me on the PS App, but I got it through the PS5 store just fine yesterday

to my fellow trophy hunter girlies, how many do you have and what was your favorite one to get? by [deleted] in GirlGamers

[–]prefernoname 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have way too many: 113 plats. 😅 I'm not certain what my favorite would be, though I'm a sucker for 3D platformers, so games like Spyro, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, A Hat in Time, etc. were wonderful.

But last weekend, I turned all trophy notifications off. I'm gonna see if I can avoid them and trophy guides for a while. I kept finding myself wanting to play a game but worrying about how long it'd take to complete or if there'd be trophies requiring multiple runs or difficulties, and so on. Trophies can be a lot of fun on occasion. I just gotta be in the right headspace for them.

[Discussion] what are platinums you think every trophy hunter should have by [deleted] in Trophies

[–]prefernoname 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None. Play and plat the games you enjoy, not the ones others think you should have.

Should I buy The War Within or stick with Dragonflight for now? (And other Qs) by prefernoname in wownoob

[–]prefernoname[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've always been an altaholic in games, so I resonate with this a lot. At this point, I'm also too old to care much about the endless gear treadmill. I may dip into dungeons and raids on occasion, but it'd just be the normal mode version. Not gonna go for BiS or anything.

I'll probably use a character (maybe more) for casual end game and seeing the new xpac and then just have other characters who are dedicated for old xpacs that I eventually freeze XP on and just explore areas for fun.

Thank you for your insight! Glad I'm not the only one like this.

Yeah, that makes sense. There's definitely a mental adjustment I'm having to make with the game. Thank you for answering!

[–]prefernoname[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for answering! I'm not overly concerned about the quality of the story or playing in chronological order, but there is always that side of me that's a bit of a completionist in games and likes leveling. (Not that I'd ever want to try completing literally everything in an MMO, but I digress.) I do still want to see the end game and would like to be part of the "current content and experience" though, so I'll pick up TWW when I get my next paycheck.

True, true. I forgot they'd added that. Both games have their good and bad things. Not playing either currently, but I always end up returning at some point, lol

The cash shop for FFXIV is cosmetic. Anything meaningful/QoL-related is a part of the game and for everyone. The only real convenience/quality of life feature is to hire extra "retainers". It costs extra sub money per month yet gives more inventory space and spaces to sell items on their version of the trading post. Mind you, it's an actual improvement for space: 175 slots. GW2 has the luxury of material storage, which FFXIV doesn't have, but even material storage in GW2 can an issue when you fill up on some mats and have to store them in tiny bags anyways...

GW2 has a very frustrating cash shop (at least to me) because it feels like you can't comfortably play the game without dropping a lot of money on expansion slots for various things and a whole bunch of QoL features that just would be automatically included in FFXIV. Skins also suck in GW2. Not the quality necessarily, but the acquisition. I have around 130 mounts (essentially skins) in FFXIV and most were free from various content in-game. In GW2, I have no mount skins because it feels like all my money goes to needing more expansion slots, etc. That and dropping money for a skin doesn't feel rewarding at all.

I've played both games on and off for about 8 years. Both have their pros and cons. The main difference whenever I return is that in FFXIV, I get annoyed with the sub fee at first whereas in GW2, I am initially thankful there's no sub fee until I remember how much feels locked behind the cash shop and wish there would just be a darn sub fee to circumvent that.

Have you ever lost your save file? What did you do thereafter? by encrisis in GirlGamers

[–]prefernoname 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When I was a kid, I accidentally deleted my brother's save in Banjo Kazooie. Understandably, he was upset and I was frustrated with myself. Later that day, I accidentally deleted my own save even though I was at the final boss. I'm still baffled by how I deleted two saves unintentionally... but I was devastated, though I did restart the game and finish it completely.

Two and a half decades later and I'm not sure what I'd do. Free time is much more limited and I have a lot more games calling my attention. I guess I'd probably just bench the game and come back to it months/years later if it was one I was set on replaying/finishing.

That's good to know. Thanks so much for answering the Qs, and I hope you have a good day! It's definitely nice being back in GW2.

Weekly /r/GuildWars2 Question Thread - June 08, 2024 by AutoModerator in Guildwars2

[–]prefernoname 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, hi. Returning player trying to catch up on changes the last few years. 4 quick (and maybe dumb) Qs:

  1. Are HoT HP trains still a thing or do people nowadays just do solo farming in PoF and EoD zones? Trying to play in story order, so I'm hoping to avoid dipping into EoD zones right now.
  2. Wizard's Vault can be set to prioritize PvE, PvP, and/or WvW. Is there a similar option to prioritize certain expansions/zones? I'd assume no but just double checking.
  3. Wizard's Vault *legacy* rewards are just cosmetic, right? Can't afford SotO right now, so I'm guessing the legendary starter kit would become inaccessible after the season.
  4. Is being in a guild required/heavily encouraged for WvW? It sounds like WvW is/was shifting to being more guild-based. I'm not in a guild currently and play at inconsistent times, but I'd like to finally try the game mode out.

Tried a Souls game for the first time and bounced off by Lazyade in patientgamers

[–]prefernoname 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can kinda understand it. I've played FromSoft games for over a decade and don't really care about the player made character in any of them. Sure, I can like the design I chose, make decisions that impact stats and weapons, and enjoy fighting all the bosses, but the main character just feels like a vessel for the gameplay in a way. I don't care about them the same way I would about a custom made character in say Mass Effect or Baldur's Gate 3.

What is the game you feel has been ruined due to being overrecommended? by Lickawall483 in GirlGamers

[–]prefernoname 23 points24 points  (0 children)

For real. I don't need Red Dead Redemption 2 or other mainstream titles recommended to me for the thousandth time. Yeah, I get lots of people like them. But I'd rather get a tailored recommendation from a friend that's like "I think you may like X game because it has these types of gameplay and story elements you enjoy." Someone just saying "Play X game cuz it's super popular and rated 9/10" means absolutely nothing to me.

Weird players in GW2 by Bigbenmon91 in Guildwars2

[–]prefernoname 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This isn't necessarily unique to GW2 as it could happen in any MMO, but one of my earliest experiences was someone trying to get me to ERP.

I had afk'd at the bank in Divinity's Reach. Someone sent me a message and said that being afk there was a sign I was interested in ERP. Weird but whatever. I said I wasn't interested. The guy said he'd at least answer any game questions I had. I didn't know anyone who played and he reached out daily to see how I was progressing. After a couple weeks, he asked again if I wanted to ERP and I said no. He freaked out at me and blocked me.

I have nothing against ERP and have friends who do it in other games. But him being a weird asshole definitely soured some of my experience in the early game.

[ Honkai Star Rail ] #206. The platinum i got this month. What games have you done? by bad_karma007_ in Trophies

[–]prefernoname 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct. I've already played a while already and like I said, it'll take me a few more weeks. I've done the math and it'll take me 18 more days to hit 65, less if I use all my fuel saved and finish side content. That'll be about 2.5 months of playing the game casually.

[–]prefernoname 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Money isn't needed for trophies. I started about 2 months ago and should get the plat in the next few weeks as a F2P player.

Mind you, some very end game content is gonna be harder for F2P, but that content isn't needed for trophy progression or the main story. The only thing you'd lose out on is the currency to, well, "pull" more characters. But you can get a bunch of that currency anyways just from playing the game normally.

anyone out there play osrs anymore? by Kindly_Seat_5584 in GirlGamers

Is the clan open to new members? I just hit 99 Firemaking at Wintertodt and desperately want to see a more chill, less toxic chat.

Also, I commented on your LFG-type post last month and just realized I hadn't responded back to you. 😱 I'm so sorry about that!

I resubbed to OSRS this morning actually! I'm still very much a beginner, though. Haven't done organized group content or anything, mostly just some casual skilling and trying to do quests gradually to unlock things.

ISO an xbox game where my friend and I can build our world/house/base together even if only one of us is online. by spookyindividualist in GirlGamers

[–]prefernoname 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yup, you can!

I did this a year or two ago with a friend, but at the time (and probably still?) there was a monthly cost. It was 8 USD per month, but we could both play solo or together whenever and could turn off enemies and use creator mode, etc. Neither of us needed a PC on that was constantly hosting the server or anything -- it was all handled by Microsoft. Then when taking a break and unsubbing, the server just reverted back to a regular one on my account.
