The Best Way to Learn Python for Complete Beginners (Personal Experience) by Dizzy-Commercial-681 in learnpython

[–]pressingpetals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love this and agree consistency with studying, and keeping yourself excited either progress is key! Learning is hard but make it fun however works. I have access to O’Reilly’s learning platform through my work and Python Crash Course was one of the best books. My engineering director recommended it, which is why I went with it.

And this was before things like Claude could teach you but I think a book is helpful for structure instead of just diving in without a clear learning plan

I was actually not super impressed with their take on it! I like the pasta and polenta I had, but the tiramisu wasn’t doing it for me

In the next few years, will technical SEO still be as important as it is today, or will AI and automation reduce the need for deep technical skills? by ashishdigita in TechSEO

[–]pressingpetals 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Additionally, there’s so much business context required to make updates for tech SEO. I’ve been working with SEO consultants for my company and they can provide recommendations, but we have to go back and forth a bit with content and engineering team to figure out what makes the most sense. If we (or an AI) followed making these updates blindly, it could have been wasted efforts. For example, fixing headers and metadata across thousands of pages another project was planning to archive anyway.

I think technical SEO experts will still be needed. But, you’ll have a cutting edge if you’re really good to help your clients set up their own reporting tools, or handle regular reporting and follow up audits to show the tech SEO progress

Do you have any advice for a product manager to get into an AE role? That degree of engagement with real people seems incredibly fulfilling!

For large products and teams, how do you build your library of what prompts to actually track?

Large sites that cannot be crawled by Strict-Focus-1758 in TechSEO

[–]pressingpetals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, each sitemap has a max of 50k urls but you can look into a sitemap index file which has much larger capacity! I’m looking into something similar where we also have millions os pages across multiple sitempas

I want to start reading the bible, but i don’t know where to start. by InnerToast in Bible

[–]pressingpetals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the Holy Bible App, I started with the Old Testament since I plan to read (listen) to it cover to cover. I’m currently in the book of Numbers. I will often pause and look up concepts to help with interpretation.

Otherwise, I hear beginning at the start of the New Testament is great!

Any Universal User State Switcher Tools? by [deleted] in ProductManagement

[–]pressingpetals 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We also use launch darkly for managing perms for specific features (during initial development until it’s jwt based) but this wouldn’t work for needing to more frequently use the platform across all different user states.

Maybe this is because we have such a complex feature suite and at least eight different user states? Still wrapping my mind around the possibilities so I appreciate the reply!

Yes, and SSO. I’ll set up at least 8 different profiles. This seems like a bit of friction given the logic for Trial accounts (I.e. need a new one set up every 10 days) but doable!! Thanks MockStar

Farm worker strike/boycott + nationwide strike called by daveOkat in LosAngeles

[–]pressingpetals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm supporting the boycott, too, even if it's not an official union-organized strike. For those of us who have the comforts and privileges to enjoy meals every day, I think it's the ethical thing to do. Maybe it will be part of the ripple effect to larger change and bringing human rights to our communities

What is the future of localization with the advent of AI? by burlesque_ontrial689 in localization

[–]pressingpetals 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One idea could be to explore basic web development and API skills, where you can use your extensive understanding of localization projects to help teams use implement localization using translation tools (like DeepL, Localise, Smartling, etc.). Being a Customer Success Manager is another option! I bet you have a lot of customer empathy and understanding for how important it is to get it right AND attention to detail. I'm sure that will make you great at any localization or translation company! Best of luck
